Regret.

Jace’s pov.

I had to get myself together and find her, the really sad part about this, was that no one could tell me her name. In 4 years no had asked her. Axle is curled up and whimpering at the back of my head, we know she has her wolf and he thinks she has run away and we’re not going to find her. I have to go face my parents, mate or not I know what I did was wrong, cruel and stupid. I walk back to the pack house and up to my dads office, the door is open so I walk in and stand in front of the desk. My dad looks up.

“Hello Jace what can I do for you?”

“I need to tell you and mum something, oh probably your beta and gamma as well it will save time.”

He mind links them, a few seconds later they walk in with Bain and Kale as well. I shut the door, my mum sits in a chair next to my dad, his beta and gamma stand behind him, Bain and Kale stand together by the window.

My mum: “Jace what is going on?”

I take a deep breath.

“About 3 years ago I was mucking about with some friends, Stephanie said I know what we can do, so we follow her to the barn. There was a girl mucking out the stables, Stephanie started to call her names and kick the muck about to make more mess, when the girl asked her to stop Stephanie pushed and slapped her, the rest of us laughed and then walked away. Over the last 3 years we’ve been back occasionally and done similar things to her.”

Everyone is staring at me with very pissed off looks. My dad looked at Bain and Kale.

“Where you two involved with this?”

Both of them said no alpha.

“Where is the girl now?”

“No one knows, she’s missing. I think she’s just turned 16 and she’s my mate.”

My mum started crying: “I’m so disappointed with you, how could you do such a thing?”

I looked down at the floor.

“I don’t know I’m so sorry.”

“LOOK AT ME BOY, WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE TO DO THAT, I’M BEYOND ANGRY. Bain and Kale please get some pack members together and start looking for her. Jace what is her name?”

“No one knows.”

That must have been the final straw as everyone growled at me. My dad: “So let me get this straight, her parents died when she was about 12 but no knew she was here and she ended up living in the barn on her own, working for nothing eating very little and tormented by the ones that should have been looking after her!!! What I don’t understand is, why didn’t you tell me about her after the first time you saw her?”

“I know this doesn’t excuse what I’ve done but at the time I didn’t know she was an orphan, I just wanted to be liked and seen as a strong future alpha.”

“Get out of my sight, I suggest you do everything to find her and soon.”

I nodded and left with Bain and Kale.

Bain: “I don’t know what to say to you Jace. Kale I think we should start at the barn see if we can track her scent.”

Kale nodded and they both walked away from me.

Rai’s pov.

After Shay ‘woke up’ we went back to the barn.

“Oh hell no Rai we are not staying here anymore.”

“But we don’t have anywhere else to go.”

“Let’s sleep in the woods and see what happens in the morning.”“Fine but we’re sleeping up in a tree it’s safer.”

Shay nodded in my head. I gathered up the blanket and the small amount of clothes I had, we stayed close to the barn up a tree. I slept for a few hours, until shouting woke me up. Oh god the animals need sorting out, I move to start going back down.

Shay: “What are you doing?”

“The animals need seeing to.”

“Not by us, we need to stay hidden until we can work out who can help us as it’s not safe for us to leave.”

Confused.com!! We then see someone walking towards the barn, oh no it’s one of my tormentors. The next second Shay is going mental and shouts ‘mate’

“Mate will help us.”

Oh hell no, I show Shay some of my memories, she whimpers and goes quiet. I can’t hear what they say, after a few minutes they go inside, he comes back out and walk’s away.

A while later two guys I’ve never seen before, walk towards the barn and go inside, after a few minutes they come out sniffing the air and seem to be following something. They stop close to the tree I’m hiding in looking around. Unknown: “She has to be here somewhere she can’t have just disappeared into thin air.”

The other one turns around and looks up wright at me.

Unknown: “I know your scared, we’re not going to hurt you and we’re going to make sure that no else is going to ether. My name is Kale and this is Bain. The alpha sent us to find you, he just wants to talk to you, make sure you’re ok and keep you safe. He is so sorry he didn’t know about you and if he had known things would have been very different for you.”

“What do you think Shay can we trust them?”

“I’m not sure but I don’t think we have any other options.”

I grabbed my bundle and jumped down, making them gasp. “Ok lead the way boys.”

“Shay how come we can sense our mate we’ve got 2 years before that happens?”

“I don’t know why all I can tell you is that we are special.”

I walk in between the boys, as we get to the pack house I’m in shock, it’s so big I’ve never seen it this close before. As we went through the door Stephanie and friends were on their way outside, she went to say something but Bain stepped in front of me.

Bain: “Don’t even think about saying or doing anything.”

She huffed and carried on her way outside. We continued making our way to the alpha’s office, we came to a door and Bain nocked on it.

“Come in.”
