Camille had driven herself to an isolated area, at the exact location Finn had texted to her.
Shortly after, Finn appeared from a dilapidated structure and quietly stepped into the car. Since the windows were tinted, they were safe should anyone pass by, which is not likely.
Camille threw her arms around Finn, unable to hide her excitement. She kissed him time and time again, so much that if Finn had not stopped her, she would have demanded it right there.
“You don't look happy, is something wrong?” She noted. “Does this have something to do with Serena and your brother, Elliot?”
Finn looked disturbed, causing Camille to panicked.
“I'm taking things to the next level, baby.” He told her. “I love you so much and that's why I'm here to reveal my plans to you.”
“Ok baby. I trust you. What are you up to?”
“My father is at it again. I have to prove myself to him to get my inheritance.” He started.
“What? What does he want from you again?”
“He wants me to get married, and have a son.” Finn revealed.
The colour immediately drained from her face.
“No way!!” She shrieked, her screams shocking Finn who tried to calm her down.
Camille was beyond reasonable. She banged her first repeatedly on the steering wheel and continued to scream her lungs out.
It wasn't until Finn shouted, “We could get caught!” did she stop screaming.
Finn held her face in his palm and wiped her tears.
“I know, baby. It hurts me too but think about it. It's a blessing in disguise!”
Camille sniffed. It didn't look like a blessing to her. If it was, God wouldn't be taking the love of her life away.
“I might lose this and fail to get my inheritance, but with you and my son under the Whitmores, we're certain to get rich.” Finn explained.
“I don't care.” Camille cried. “I just want to be with you. I'll leave Adrian immediately, you can tell Mr Vance that you already have a wife and a son.”
“Camille!” Finn grabbed her arms, shaking her violently. “Get it together.”
“No…” she sobbed.
“You're Adrian’s fiancee and everyone thinks the child in your womb is his. How could we possibly reveal the truth to them?”
He continued. “We'll be put behind bars. Think of our son! Think of our dreams. Everything will cease to exist.”
Camille cried harder. She couldn't take it. Finn held her, trying his best to console her. At a point, he too began to cry.
“Always know that I love you and our son, Camille.” He sobbed. “Everything I do is for us, for a brighter future.”
Camille's tears increased and even Finn began to sob loudly. They cried in each other's arm and didn't stop until almost half an hour.
In the silence, Camille spoke. “Who are you getting married to?”
“I'm not getting married, baby. I told you that you're the only woman I love so I cannot marry anyone else.”
“But, your father.”
“It's all a ruse. I and the woman will pretend to be in love, we will get married according to my father's wishes but we will get divorced in nine months, after his death.” Finn explained.
Camille pulled him into her arms again. “I love you so much, Finn.”
“I love you too, honey.” He kissed her. “Hope you're eating fine, huh?”
“Yes, I am.” She giggled.
Finn placed his hand on her belly as the baby slowly moved within. They both laughed and spent the short time playing with the unborn child.
…..
Serena's POV
I boarded a cab to see Doctor Layla in order to check my baby's health. Even though I tried not to think of how much my life has drastically changed, I couldn't help it.
Unlike Elliot's deceit that I quickly accepted, I couldn't accept Karen's recent behaviour. Elliot is a complete stranger to me, however Karen has been my friend for ages.
She had said she wants something too. What could it possibly be that she had to go into competition with me?
I don't know why, but I have a strong hunch that it wasn't money. What could Finn possibly be threatening her with?
Could it be my life? I doubt.
I sighed and clutched my belly. I should be worrying about my baby and the little secret.
Now that Elliot has tricked me into signing a contract that states that we'll get married and I'll bear an heir or pay the sum of twenty million dollars, how can I continue to hide my baby.
Even though the baby belongs to Adrian and he doesn't give a f**k, I am the mother of this child, a child that I will keep no matter what, after losing two pregnancies that left me devastated.
What do I do? I can't opt out of this deal, nor can I reveal the truth of my pregnancy.
By the looks of it, Karen must be under pressure from Finn to convince me to step down. She's using my pregnancy to make me back down but I can't, not if I want to pay twenty million dollars which I do not even have.
I rested my head on the headrest and shut my eyes. Shortly after, I arrived at the hospital. Doctor Layla had her hands full and I wanted no other doctor to examine me so I had to wait.
Half an hour later, I was laying on my back as Doctor Layla did an ultrasound. I was trembling, scared that I would hear those dreaded words.
It was always when I came for ultrasound that I was told the baby wasn't in a good condition. I'd then be advised to terminate because of my health. I blatantly refused but a week later, the baby was gone.
Soon, the test were finished and I waited for some minutes in her office before she arrived.
“Doctor, is it fine? Please don't tell me—” I paused. I couldn't say it.
She held my hands across the desk and said, “Serena, your child is doing just fine and it's growing pretty fast too.”
My eyes lit up. “Really??”
She nodded. “There's a lot of improvement since your last two pregnancies. I think the drugs worked perfectly for your hormones!”
“Oh, thank you so much, Doctor!”
“However, your pelvic floor doesn't seem strong enough. You need to be extra careful.” She advised. “As long as you don't do any hectic work like lifting heavy objects, or anything that could put pressure down there, you'll be just fine.”
I nodded, taking the test results from her.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
“No one is allowed in yet.” Doctor Layla announced.
However, what came next shocked me to my bones.
“It's Adrian, Doctor. I'd like to see you urgently.”
