The start of it all

1805 Words
Being connected had it’s irritations, and all five of them had learned to control it over the past 4 millennium. So when they got hints of pain from their siblings, at least one of each got in contact with the one sibling that they don’t always hate, and make sure that they aren’t dead. The call list was like falling dominoes, until one didn't pick up. But, one night they all woke up in pain. All centered around the left hip to the knee and then across their chest. Eros was the one who figured out who it was, and called the others. He wasn’t surprised when he got irritating brothers at first, and then their older sister Eva. “What do you mean her place was a mess?” She had shouted and ground her teeth together. “Exactly what I said. I got here, s**t was everywhere Eva. There was blood in her bedroom, things have been tipped over like they were searching for something. Maggie is missing. Gone. She was the one who was hurt.” Eros explained looking around the house one last time. “Where was she even staying? How did her neighbors not hear?” Eva ground out angry that she had to worry about her little sister that would rather stake her than hug her. “I don’t know. All I know is that I couldn’t get in contact, and when I went to her last known address, they forwarded me here. She wasn’t here, her place is a mess. You know what I know. Don’t rip my head off for not being psychic... not in my gift set. Now, are you going to call on us all to gather or just let our sister die?” He asked through clenched teeth and he knew the answer the moment she growled. “Get to Italy. I will take care of Marcus and Lucifer.” Eva told him before hanging up and calling for one of her minions. Evangeline was queen of all the vampires. Sitting on a throne in Italy, or Romania, or where ever else she decided to spend her time. She liked the finer things in life, and what Eva wanted she got. Marcus was Alpha King of all the Werewolves in the world. But unlike their eldest sibling, he stayed in their homeland, ruling with an iron fist, near the Iron Curtain’s original structure.  Maggie decided to move almost as far away from Europe, taking on the roll of a ‘guiding’ spirit. She liked to help others and train certain magical people how to become a witch like her. Her people worshiped her and the ground she walked on even if she hated the thought of being their leader with a title. Eros liked to travel, never in one place too long, and never getting too involved with the community. Always sticking to the shadows and running his businesses with little to no effort. He didn’t control his people, they did what they wanted, and all of them had the sense to behave themselves. All his people knew is that if they stepped out of line, something, being him, would take care of them. And finally Lucifer, he loved being nowhere and everywhere all the time. No one knew how he controlled his people, the only way to kill a demon, was if one of the high siblings decided that he no longer had the chance to live. He was the laziest king of the siblings, never corralled his demons, never gave orders unless it benefited him. And now, they were all headed to Italy, a big family reunion that was 1450 years in the making. They hadn’t all been together in that long, and the last time that they were... death threats weren’t just tossed around, they had almost come true. Lucifer was the first to arrive in Eva’s chateu and he looked around with his purple iris shining with mirth and he looked to his oldest sister and gave a smirk. “Dear sister, how goes ruling the undead?” He asked walking towards her as she walked downstairs to meet him. “Probably just as good as you having the three women in your bed when I called.” She gave a little glare before leaning down to kiss her baby brother. “You look thin, hungry?” She asked and he shook his head. “I am famished.” They both turned to see Marcus making his way inside with two wolves behind him. “If it isn’t the two siblings that control the dead.” “I see you brought protection older brother.” Lucifer stood in front of Eva and eyed the two men. “Oh come now, let’s not fight. We need to find Maggie. We all know what she’s gone through. She doesn't heal like we do. We might hate what the other is, or has done, but Maggie has always wanted peace between us. Lu, Marcus, please just think about her until we find her.” Eva stepped between her brothers in a flash. Pleading with them. “Never thought you would be the one to bring us together over Maggie, but I guess there is some kind of justice in that.” Marcus said and he looked to Lucifer. “They aren’t here for my protection, they’re the best trackers.” Marcus stated and looked from one sibling to another, “Now, how about we eat something, get some good old fashion sibling bonding. At least until we hear from Eros again.” Marcus said with a big smile. “Anything you want?” Eva asked needing to keep her calm around her brother. Lu was her favorite. He never cried with her like Eros had done as babies, and she took a shining to him right away. However Marcus was the irritating little brother that never let her have any fun. “Anything you have is fine.” Marcus said holding his tongue and looking to his men. “If you are hungry I suggest you eat now. We don’t know when we will need to be on our way. There will be no pit stops for a hungry wolf.” He told them and Lu looked over his brother and smirked once again when they made eye contact. “Been well?” He asked and Marcus sent him a cautious look. “As in mentally?” He asked his little brother and crossed his arms. “As in romantically. Mom always said you would be the first to fall.”  Marcus rolled his eyes, knowing their mother had said that many, many, many times. "So she said. Hasn't happened this year, or the thousands before." Marcus reminded him. He was the oldest son, and after him, Eva was set to find the love of her life. Then it was just the rest in the birth order to follow. Lu just got to the end of the conversation very fast, knowing that the brute hadn't tried, which meant he was safe. No woman was going to come into his life and suddenly make him and his siblings all happy go lucky with each other. There wasn't a force in this world that would make him buddy buddy with his twin. As it was, the bastard would be lucky that he was willing to hold off on a fight until Maggie was with them and safe. As much as they were twins and 'womb' mates... there was no reconciling the fact that when it came Eros time to step up, to take over for him, it might have been over 3 thousand years ago, but now Lu didn't care. There would be no corralling his minions in if he was going to have to fight them alone. As for his other siblings though, he could think about the good things that could come around for them. Eva might be cured of her ever present blood lust. The only ones that she was never worried about biting was them, therefore, most humans she came into contact with when she was still new were now her lady's maids, her right hand men and women. She barely made contact with the real world any more because she had to be contained. Once she had a mate... their mother promised the lust for killing, for the rush of blood, would go away for her. For Marcus he was supposed to inherit a bit more power, to control those of his species that had the balls to defy him. He was to become the king of all creatures, or at lest that is what he planned on calling himself, when in reality he would have the power his mother told him would be there to protect the family he has, and will have when he finds his mate. Lu remembered wondering what kind of threat would call for more power to be unlocked in Marcus still. As it was, Lu knew he could never take him one on one and come out the winning side. Not that he ever had a real reason to attack and hurt Marcus. Maggie's mate would bring her harmony and love and peace to the rest of the family. Eros' mate would come in and wreck havoc on him, push his limits until he wasn't so ... stuffy as their mother used to love to call him. He kept his hands out of all of his siblings business and hasn't bothered to show up no matter what issue they were going through with their people. As it was, he wasn't in attendance by the time the food was brought up and Eva paced as she waited for him. Lu thought about when his mother made him drink her magic brew... she had looked at him and cupped his face, telling him that his mate would bring him peace in a way he never would imagine. That he would be ok the second he laid his eyes on the woman that was meant to be his. They were all supposed to be ok, a big loving family that no longer had any issues.  Now they were all cursed. The promise of a love, of true love for each and every one of them hasn't come true for thousands of years, and they knew they could be waiting for thousands more. It was all in the hands of Marcus and when and where he would find her. They were all dominoes lining up and waiting to fall.
