Chapter Two
You were the hardest lesson I ever had to learn.
-
As I was nearing the border deep in the forest Jax stopped as if on cue that we have arrived on our destination. I climbed down and my abilities were telling me we were not alone. I hear another heartbeat aside me and Jax near our surroundings.
"I know someone is here, you might as well come out already." I said, suddenly I heard whispers and I held my arrow tightly just in case they attack us.
Slowly but surely I saw two figures emerged from the dark and made their way to my direction. When the moon's light shone unto them I saw a guy whose hair is floating along with the water with it. His eyes were blue as the ocean and I noticed his clothes were soaking wet. Next to him is someone who made my breath hitched.
A faerie, a rainbow one to be exact and she is breathtakingly beautiful.
"A faerie..." I whispered, never had I seen a rainbow one in my daily life here in the kingdom, they are the rare species and I mostly see elemental faeries.
I only saw a rainbow one in a book in the library back in the castle but to see one in front of is making me speechless. She was wearing a tube green dress that stops midthigh and flowers decorating all over it.
Once she heard my whisper I could clearly see a glint of happiness in her eyes. Her hair was blond so was her wings. They were not like butterfly wings, they were more like pointy one and I can see gold dust falling down from it. Reminds me of tinkerbell's wings actually, except hers color is blond/gold. Her eyes were as green as the leaves and skin white as the clouds.
"Hello there!" She greeted me with a big smile that I swear my cheek could hurt if I smiled that much. She flew towards me and examined me from head to toe while still smiling brightly. I lowered my weapon, my senses were telling me they mean no harm.
"We're actually here to get you!" She told me and cling into my my arm as if we've been close for years. "By the way, how did you knew we were here?" She curiously asked and leaned in to me.
She reminds me of a child, honestly.
"I sensed your presence and I could hear your heartbeat." I replied, and she were more curious now. "Is that-
"As expected from the King's daughter." The man who's hair was floating finally spoke and cut off what the faerie was about to say.
I don't know if that was a compliment or a fact. The faerie pouted to show her disappointment when the guy interrupted her. "You know-
"You said you're here to get me, yeah? Lead me to our destination, I have to do princess duties early in the morning." I told the guy, made sure to emphasize the princess duties and he nodded.
Then the faerie pouted at me now for I have interrupted what she was about to say. "Hm! I'm not talking to you both!" She stated and stomped her foot before approaching Jax and petted him. The horse seemed to come to a liking to her presence though.
Of course, she's a faerie. Fairies like her automatically create friendship bond with any living creature.
"Follow me, princess." He said, mocking the word 'princess'.
He led me through the dark forest, luckily I can use my abilities to see the dark. However unfortunately, I'm not used to it so I got tired easily.
The man seemed to notice so the water on his hair glowed along with the rest of his body and it was the only source of light aside the moon's light.
Someone tug my shirt and when I turned around I saw the faerie smiling at me and handed the leash of the horse.
"By the way, my name is Heather," She smiled sweetly, her name fits her personality and appearance very well. "And that's Fury. Kaizen Fury." She pointed at the man in front of us. "He has the ability to control the water or the oceans, that is why Fury is is his name, because it means–
"Nothing is more violent than the sea..." I finished her sentenced and she clapped happily while sitting on Jax.
"Yes! I didn't know you were so brilliant your highness!" She cheered happily and I cringed at the word 'your highness'
He must be a a Kairus then, the one who posses the ability to control any type of water. By I mean any type that involved liquid, I meant any type.
"Just call me Alan-I mean Alina. Ivelisse Alina." s**t I almost blurted out my real name.
I am still confused between Alana my name in the future and outside the book. Then Alina my name here, which is the princess's name.
It seemed that she didn't notice though, which was a relief. And wait did she say she didn't thought I was that brilliant? "What do you mean by you thought I was not that brilliant?"
"Well Cali said you were idiotic and stupid.." She trailed off, and even though I don't who that is I already have a thought of who he is.
That son of a-
"We're here." Before I could curse him on my head the- I mean Fury spoke that made my thought into a halt.
Heather jumped off Jax and ran to the front and when everything lit up I closed my eyes for a moment before fluttering them open again. There in front of me, are 10 people standing including Fury and Heather and 11 if you include me.
In the center I saw him sitting like a king on his throne. I was about to glare at him when I remembered something I read back in the library in the castle.
"A princess must not lose her composure."
Thankfully I had refrained myself from losing my self-control. As I did that I can clearly saw the the side of his lips rose a smirk fully displaying, though none of his comrades noticed for their attention is on me.
I glanced at each of one of them beside Heather was girl wearing a rather a little revealing armor and by the looks of it I can tell she's a Raveneye a warrior who is gifted with extreme intelligence and has super strength along with her spear and shield. She also posses the ability to create and destroy a trance if ever she is in one.
Next to her was a guy surrounded with black mist, I can tell he was a Zarath a demon mated with a lower rank person in the kingdom, well not really that low ranked, judging by his abilities by his dark mist. I heard people in the town still does not accept a half demon breed.
On the left side I saw girl who was raging with fire. She must be Fyre. A girl who can control and produce any fire including lava, her hair was on fire and she has red eyes but she was utterly beautiful.
To her right was a guy who is practically glowing, I mean like literally, he must be a Pyro. The ones that create and get light from any source or any kind of light and make them their own.
To his right was a girl holding two swords in both her hands, her swords were on fire I know what and who she is in a heartbeat.
Her kind is my favorite after all.
She's a Steel Slinger, her swords are light as ever but very sharp in return, it can cut any living and non living thing. She can summon any kind of sword and no one can hold it without her permission, if you hold it without her permission I guess you can expect a burnt on your hand that'll last for at least three weeks. That's how powerful her sword is.
Next to her was a smirking guy and just by his oozing confidence I can already tell he's a Clone Devil. He can make many clones of himself as much as he wants. He can be invisible to anyone and no one can feel his presence once he does that, he can also fly. I read that his kind are very cocky.
And for the last person, he was cold as ice, his aura is cold and even his presence is cold, well maybe because he posses of the ability to create winter or snow, that's why he feels cold because he's the Ixar. However, on the other note, from ice he can create something hotter than fire and lava but not as hot as the sun.
And finally this piece of s**t in the center sitting comfortably. I searched of him but since I do not hold any information of his abilities I lack of information of who and what he is.
I have to know, not that I want to know, it is because I need to know. I have always had a habit of knowing of I am associated with just to be cautious and be on guard. Not knowing who and what they are drives me insane. I-
"Well, seems like you have come true to your word," He said that caused me to stop my train of thoughts.
"Well, not like I had any choice." I replied making sure to indirectly tell him I am here unwillingly.
"Mate, you didn't tell me she was feisty." Said the clone devil but his "master" did not respond to him.
"Now, now, be grateful. I just saved your life of course." He replied to me in a little bit of a teasing tone.
You shouldn't have, like really.
"Well. Don't beat around the bush and tell me what you want." I impatiently said considering the fact I should have been asleep right now and he is ruining my sleeping schedule and I am not happy about it.
"Oooooh..." The clone devil made a sound in a teasing tone towards his 'leader'. He was about to say something again when the Steel Slinger punched him in the gut. I made a winced face because of it.
Damn. That must've hurt, I heard steel slinger's are often very strong too.
"For your first tasked, you must bring me the Oryx-Musk Deer," I was about to protest when he raised his hand to shut me up.
How dare he raised his hand on me, the princess! Well at least in this storyline.
"I hear no complaints and you shall do as I say, we made a vow, remember?" He slyly said that irritated the f**k out of me, but I knew what he was doing. He was making me lose my composure and test my patience.
"A princess must not lose her composure." I reminded myself mentally. I'll let him make me his slave, for now.
I inhaled before looking at them with a smile on lips and asked them the words that left them all astonished. "When shall I start?"
I kept cursing him on my head because how on the f*****g earth am I supposed to catch rather kill the Oryx-Musk Dear. Even the guardians are having a hard time catching it for god's sake! Just so you know, the guardians are the one's protecting the kingdom.
Relax, Alana. Just think this is a normal hunt you and your father did when you were young. Yes, just think of that way, it'll be more easier to capture it.
For the tenth time you thot, I curse you down in the pits of hell you piece of s**t-
I heard movements, and as if on cue I saw the Oryx-Musk Deer drinking water in the river of Sterile. Now all I have to do is hope that the plan I formulated will work.
Curse you again thot, in the deepest parts of hell.
As soon as the dear drank in the river I had already cut out the possibilities of it escaping from every way possible and every chance it hopes. I made it seem that death wasn't after him like any living thing.
I was ten feet away from the deer. My shoulders were tensed and the way I held my bow was shaking, my hands are shaking.
I breathed in and out to relax myself and their burning gazes from my back was not helping at all. I felt more pressured.
Concentrate.
I reminded myself. My father once told me that the best thing about me was my concentration on certain things, occasions, and surroundings. He said that I could do anything and formulate any plan to defeat and enemy if I concentrate.
So I did, I blocked all the other sounds and concentrated on my breather and a predator hunting its prey.
I have three ropes with me, all these ropes lead to the little setup I made from my prey's left side, right side, and its front.
If I pull any of this strings after the failed attempt of me hitting it, which side it will go I will pull that string. My mini setup will release the three arrows I've put it.
Now, I will kill my prey.
She concentrated on aiming her bow at her deer and the group watching her were curious for she did not held any arrow to release from.
"Is she playing with us?" The Steel Slinger said for she is pissed by how the princess only had a bow but no arrow.
She was about to say something when the Raveneye spoke in a calm serious tone. "Be patient, there is something we are not aware about."
Everyone knows the Raveneye only speaks the truth, despite the fact she can detect lies she can also only speak the truth.
They all sensed an energy out from nowhere that made their guard up. They all saw the princess's concentration then she acted as if she released an arrow and when she lets go the string, an arrow came into view.
And with a swift of her arrow it pierced in the deer's neck.
Did I...did I just really killed it...?
The ten of them that was watching her all widened their eyes in shock because how can a princess kill the Oryx-Musk Deer with ease?
Even they have to plan carefully to capture it but she...she did it as if she's been doing it all her life. Even the guardians themselves had trouble capturing it.
The Oryx-Musk Deer isn't like other deer's, it's horns contain powerful magic that can detect any living and non-living thing miles away and can sense when death or when someone is nearby of what they're standing.
They even have to use half of their powers to catch it, and when the princess only shot an arrow, it hit their alter-ego, the arrow that was released also surprised them when she didn't held any arrow at all.
When she positioned herself, it was like as if she was holding a arrow when she really wasn't, when she released the string a gold arrow covered in little fire on its end came out of it and killed the deer without sweat.
Just.... who does she think she is?
That's the only question remained on their mind as they watch her drag the the deer by its horn and started walking towards them with a triumph smile on her lips.
He felt his eyes glow as he watched the girl with a triumph smile on her lips and a brow raised as she started walking towards them.
He felt his ability flowing as if warning him a threat is nearby, however, only he felt this for his friends still had a shock look on their face oblivious of his eye color changing and his ability leaking and overflowing a little.
As he faced forward, he saw the girl had thrown him the deer's dead body and the arrow long gone leaving no trace of evidence behind. As if it wasn't there to begin with.
He looked into her eyes and saw pride swimming in them and he felt his eyes changes it's color but she was oblivious by it for she started to walk towards her horse and every single one of them followed her movement.
When she had held the horse's leach she had said her final words of goodbye.
"Until we meet again." Before disappearing into the air with her horse.
In that moment he knew, he had to know more about this girl, for she was no ordinary princess at all.
