“She’s coming here.” The words hang in the air like a storm waiting to break. For a moment, neither Margaret nor I speak. Because the implication is too strange. Too dangerous. “She’s running from federal investigators,” Margaret says carefully. “Why would she come to Reyes Tower?” Adrian’s eyes remain fixed on his phone. “Because she knows we’ve connected the dots.” My stomach tightens. “And that makes her come here?” “Yes.” “That sounds insane.” “Not if she believes this is her last opportunity.” “To do what?” I whisper. Adrian doesn’t answer immediately. Instead, he looks toward the glass walls of the boardroom. The city stretches beneath us. Rain beginning to fall over Manhattan. Somewhere down there—a woman who watched me forget my life for three years is on her way here. M
