Chapter 11: Dinner Table Discussions The dinner table was set, and the delicious smell of home-cooked food filled the room. Tyler's parents sat at the head of the table, while Lily and Tyler sat across from each other. "How was everyone's day?" Tyler's mom asked, serving Lily a portion of mashed potatoes. Lily took a deep breath and began recounting her day's events. "It was crazy! Rachel and Tyler got into a scene in the cafeteria. Rachel basically claimed Tyler as hers, and it was super awkward." Tyler's dad's eyebrows shot up. "Claimed him? What's that supposed to mean?" Lily filled them in on the details, her voice rising in indignation. "I mean, who does Rachel think she is? It's ridiculous." Tyler finally spoke up, his voice low and measured. "It's not that big of a deal, Lily. Rachel was just... expressing her feelings." Lily shot him a look. "Expressing her feelings? By claiming you in front of everyone? That's not expression, that's possession!" Lily's eyes flashed with frustration. "You're not taking this seriously, Tyler. Rachel's behavior is getting out of hand." Tyler shrugged, his expression calm. "I'm just saying, maybe Rachel's feelings for me are genuine." Lily's voice rose. "Genuine? You call that genuine? She's just trying to control you, Tyler." Their parents watched the exchange, intrigued. Tyler's mom set down her fork, her expression thoughtful. "Tyler, Lily, let's talk about this calmly. Rachel's behavior does seem... intense." Tyler's dad nodded. "Yes, and it's essential to respect everyone's boundaries." Lily seized the opportunity. "Exactly! That's what I'm saying. Rachel's not respecting Tyler's boundaries." Tyler's mom looked at him. "Tyler, how do you feel about Rachel's behavior?" Tyler took a deep breath, his expression sincere. "Honestly, Mom, Dad, I don't have feelings for Rachel. She's just a friend, and I don't appreciate her behavior." Lily's face lit up with a "I told you so" expression. "See, I knew it! Rachel's just trying to claim you as her own." Tyler's mom smiled slightly. "Well, it's good that you're aware of your feelings, Tyler. And Lily, it's good that you're looking out for your brother." Tyler's dad leaned forward. "Let's focus on supporting each other as a family. We'll handle the situation with Rachel together." The family shared a moment of unity, but what happens next? ___ Just as the family was enjoying their unity, the doorbell rang. Tyler's mom got up to answer it. "I'll get it." A moment later, Rachel walked into the dining room, a bright smile on her face. "Hey, Tyler! I was in the neighborhood and thought I'd drop by." The room fell silent, with Tyler's family exchanging awkward glances. Tyler's expression turned uncomfortable. Tyler's mom's smile faltered for a moment before she regained composure. "Rachel, dear, we're in the middle of dinner. Perhaps another time would be better for visiting?" Tyler's dad chimed in, "Yes, Rachel, we're trying to spend some quality family time together." Rachel's smile began to fade as she picked up on the subtle cues. "Oh, okay... I didn't mean to intrude. Maybe I'll catch up with Tyler another time?" Tyler nodded slightly, relieved. "Yeah, sure. Another time." Rachel nodded understandingly. "No worries, I'll talk to you later, Tyler. Nice seeing you all." With a smile, Rachel turned and left the dining room. The family breathed a collective sigh of relief as the door closed behind her. Tyler's mom smiled. "Well, that was... interesting." Lily giggled. "Yeah, drama queen exit." The family shared a laugh, tension dissipating. As the laughter faded, Tyler's dad asked, "So, how was school otherwise? Any updates on upcoming projects?" Lily launched into a discussion about her history project, and Tyler chimed in about his math homework. The conversation flowed easily, and the family enjoyed the rest of their meal together. Let's keep the story going!Chapter 11: Dinner at Tyler's House As they finished dinner, Tyler's mom asked, "Have you two given any thought to summer plans? We should start thinking about camps, vacations, or maybe some family projects." Lily's eyes lit up. "I've been looking into a summer art program! Can I go, please?" Tyler's dad smiled. "Let's look into it. What about you, Tyler? Any ideas for summer?" Tyler's face lit up with excitement. "Actually, I've been thinking about joining a basketball training camp this summer. I've been playing on the school team, and I want to improve my skills." Lily chimed in, "That sounds awesome, Tyler! Can I come watch some of your games?" Tyler's mom smiled. "We'll definitely look into the basketball camp. It'll be great for you to focus on your passion."
