When Love Is Fated

A Matter Of Justice

Lei walked briskly into the house and informed Anson, "Sir we have Amber Zhao and the location to where Mrs. Hu and Brenda Jiang is. My team should be dealing with Charlotte Hu as we speak. Brenda Jiang is on her way to work. The team will intercept her before she arrives. The three of them will be taken to the warehouse for interrogation. Everything should be ready for you when you arrive." Anson nodded his head and looked at his grandfather, Charles Hu, his brother, and father. "I will inform Annie of the progress. The nannies will stay here with the babies while we handle this." Charles Hu pulled out his phone and contacted his attorney, Li Huang, "Li, everything is ready. I will text you the location to meet with the divorce papers. I want them filed as soon as she signs," he informed Li as he prepared to leave with the others. Li Huang buzzed his secretary and instructed her to bring in the Hu file. He took the filed and checked to ensure all of the paperwork was there. He received the text with the address to the location he needed to meet Mr. Hu. "Miss Wu, I'm going out for an appointment with Mr. Hu. Clear my schedule for the remainder of the day," he instructed her as he left the office. 

Anson discussed everything with Annie, who agreed with his plans. After kissing the babies, they left the villa together. Driving, Anson asked Annie if she was sure she would be able to handle everything she hears. She replied, "I already know everything that happened, I just need to hear her admit it. I can't wait to see her reaction when she sees all of us there together. I mean, how fake was she to use me to make her a clothing line, knowing she had my mother killed," she stated in anger. Anson glanced at her briefly before remaining focused on the road. "Angel, she will pay for everything she did, I promise." Annie nodded her head. In the short time since they were married, Anson had shown her that he would do anything to make her happy. She was lost in thought of the events that were about to happen. Although her father explained that he never loved Charlotte, the idea that he married the woman who arranged for his wife's death, had to be weighing on his conscience. Annie felt bad for her father. She wiped the tears from her eyes. Anson noticed her actions and asked with concern, "Angel, what's wrong? If this is too much for you, we can go home and let grandpa handle this," he replied with concern. "It's not that. I was just thinking how my father must feel being fooled by Charlotte all these years. He felt so guilty not picking my mom up that day. Imagine how he must feel knowing he married the woman who arranged mom's death," she explained feeling heartbroken. Anson understood what she meant and reached for her hand bringing it to his lips. He noticed that with Annie, he could touch her and she could touch him and he didn't feel panicky like he did when people touched him. They drove the remainder of the way in silence. 

Andrew Wen contacted Xi-wang Zhao to make sure he was on his way. He knew his old friend wanted to seek revenge for his son. "Andrew, are you there already?" Xi-wang Zhao asked as he answered the phone. "I'm about 10 minutes away. How far away are you?" He asked. Xi-wang looked out the window and told Andrew his current location. The GPS stated he would arrive in 12 minutes. Realizing Xi-wang was right behind him, he ended the call. He could not wait to start this process. He would make sure Charlotte Hu paid for her crimes but not before she was tortured. 

Anson and Annie arrived first. Before they could exit the car, Anson received a call from Lei, "Boss, Jin Ouyang found something very interesting. He is bringing his surprise with him," he then informed Anson of the surprise. Anson turned to Annie with his mouth gaped open in shock. He informed Lei he had arrived and was outside and hung up the phone. He turned to Annie looking as if he had seen a ghost. "Honey, there's about to be a huge secret that's about to rock Charlotte's world. Let's get out, you're going to enjoy this." He explained with a secretive smile.  Annie could not help but smile as Anson helped her out of the car, "Care to give me a hint?" she asked with excitement. "Let's just say, Charlotte will be surprised to see an old friend," Anson said secretly. Annie looked at him and could not figure out what he meant. Walking inside of the warehouse, Anson sat Annie down in the chair behind the two way glass before excusing himself to make a call. Just as he reached the door, Charles Hu, Ang Wen and Shuang Wen walked into the room. Anson excused himself and asked them to look after Annie until her returned. He stepped outside onto the balcony and ensured he was alone. He made a call to Jin, "How much longer until you arrive?" he asked him. "I'm downstairs now looking up at you," Jin replied and waved his arm. "Great, come on in,'Anton instructed him and hung up. He then called his grandfather but before he could put the call through, he saw his grandfather's car pulling in closely followed by a car he did not recognize. He watched as his grandfather greeted an elderly gentleman and realized it must be Xi-wang Zhao. He smiled knowingly at what was about to transpire. 

Amber Zhao slowly awakened to find herself tied to a chair and her mouth gagged. She could not make out where she was but smelled the strong smell of urine. Looking around, she then started to see rats scurrying across the floor. Panicking, she started to try and free herself of her b*****e while attempting to scream. Realizing it was of no use, she sat in the poorly lit room and cried. Charlotte who was in the next room finally woke up to the same atmosphere as Amber. When she realized she was tied up and gagged, her heart started racing and she tried to overturn the chair in an effort to free herself. However, the chair was bolted to the floor and she could not move it. Seeing the rats and bugs all over the room, she began to scream. Hearing the muffled screams, she knew no one could hear her so she sat still and tried to listen for any sound outside of the room. She started to think the Zhao family must've found something on her and was exacting revenge. Anger began to boil inside her. She would never admit to anything and decided to just keep quiet. Brenda Jiang was still sitting in her chair tied and gagged just like Amber and Charlotte. She hadn't come to yet and her captors were sitting watching and waiting. Twenty minutes later she started to stir. Once she became alert, she looked around but did not have the same reaction as Amber and Charlotte. She sat completely still and looked straight ahead. Her first thought was that Charlotte had her kidn*pped to prevent her from talking. She decided to remain calm and see what she was up to. It never occurred to her that she was about to go to jail.

Everyone was now in place. Jin Ouyang walked into Amber's room first. He turned on the light and Amber was finally able to see the entirety of the room. Her eyes stretched after seeing body parts up against the side of the wall. This was why the rats did not come towards her. She started to cry harder and escape from her b*****e. Jin walked over to her and snatched the gag from her mouth, "Miss Zhao, you only get one opportunity to tell me the truth, the minute you lie, I cut off a body part and feed it to the rats behind me. Is that understood?" He asked in a deathly tone. Amber noticed the razor-sharp knife that looked like a short sword in his hand. She looked at the rats eating on the human flesh and quickly nodded her head. "Now, tell me, who ordered you to kill Kim Wen," he asked with a voice laced with malice. Amber looked at him with confusion and was scared to answer. She wasn't sure who Kim Wen was. "I....I...I don't know anyone named Kim Wen. I've never killed anyone," she said terrified he wouldn't believe her and cut something off. Jin, an expert in interrogation, knew when he was being lied to. He watched her in deathly silence and knew automatically she was telling the truth. "Is it true that you volunteered at Wen Medical Center five years ago?" He asked her. Amber remembered her mother made her volunteer and said it would be good for her in the future, "Yes. My mother made me do some volunteer work there. I didn't stay long because I couldn't stand the smell of the disinfectant," she explained in a hushed tone. An idea struck Jin and he realized that Charlotte who looks a lot like Amber had switched places. "I will be right back. When I come back, I will have one question for you. If you lie...you die," he told her in a cold voice. He turned and left the room quickly. Amber was so scared that she could not stop shaking. She only volunteered at the hospital for a week before her mother agreed to allow her to quit. 

Jin walked out of the room and into the private room where the others were sitting. "Don't tell me you believe what she's saying," Ang Wen asked as Jin walked in. "I've been interrogating people for over ten years. I know when I'm being lied to. What she says is the truth. I realized something when she was talking. It wasn't her who put the sleeping pills in the IV. It was Charlotte Hu. When I looked at the tape, her face was covered with a mask. However, look at Amber's right arm," he said pointing to the monitor in front of them. He then pulled up the video of the volunteer walking out of Kin Wen's room and he stopped the camera on the arm of the person walking out of the room. "Look at the mark on the right arm of the woman walking out of the room," he said while pointing to the spot. Everyone looked at the mark on the right arm of the woman on the screen. Charles Hu jumped up and pointed, "That is definitely Charlotte. That is the scar on her arm that she got when she had a birthmark removed," he explained. "So she set my granddaughter up to look like she murdered Kim Wen," he said in disgust. Ang and Anson looked at each other and then their father. "This Charlotte has no boundaries to what she would do to get what she wants. What reason does she have to murder Kim?" Shuang Wen asked angrily. "I don't know but I will find out," Jin exclaimed as he walked back out of the room. 

Reentering the room Amber was in, he walked up to her and showed her the video of Charlotte leaving Kim Wen's room and stated, "Didn't I tell you if you lied to me I would cut something off! This is you leaving out of Kim Wen's room right after you injected sleeping medicine into her IV," he shouted at her. Amber looked at the video and stated, "That's not me...that's not me! I was not working on this day. See the date in the corner, I was sitting for my GaoKao exams that morning," she screamed while crying to explain. She was terrified that he would use the knife in his hand to s***h something on her. "If this is not you, why does the person in this video have on your uniform with your name tag. This looks just like you," he baited her. Amber looked at the screen again and squinted before realization hit her, her mouth gaped open and her eyes were wide. "That...that...that looks like my mom," she stammered in utter surprise. She then shook her head, crying she said, "This can't be...why would she do this to me." Amber was in complete shock. 

Realizing that Amber was telling the truth, Jin nodded his head and before Amber could react, her face was once again covered with a cloth. Jin instructed the man to take her to another room and strap her to the bed. Leaving the room, he went back to the room with the others. "So she confirmed that it was indeed Charlotte. I will go to Brenda Jiang next to get her to talk," he explained as he walked out of the room. Everyone in the room fixed their eyes on the monitor that held Brenda Jiang. They watched as Jin walked into the room. He told Brenda the same thing he told Amber, Brenda did not appear afraid at all. Instead, she stated, "I don't know why Charlotte had you bring me here. I don't know anything about her life. I work as a nurse and have my own life. She and I are not friends anymore," she stated plainly. Jin looked at her and said, "I don't care whether you and Charlotte Hu are friends now. I care that you helped her kill the wives of Charles Hu and Shuang Wen," he stated in an icy tone as he walked towards her. Brenda squinted her eyes and asked, "Who sent you to kidnap me? Was it Charlotte or Zhao's family? I don't have anything to do with what she has done!" she screamed at Jin huffing. Her chest rose and fell with each breath. Jin noticed that she did not feel afraid at all but was angry instead. He changed his tactic. "Why did she confess that it was you who came up with the plan to make everything look like an accident. Why is it you who sent the text messages and paid the driver to pay to have the family of the man you chose to kidnap and pour alcohol down his throat threatened and even kidn*pped his daughter where you have been holding her in your family's villa in the mountains," he told her and watched for her reaction. Again, she was not afraid but was livid, "My idea...that bitch...she called me and told me she needed a favor. She provided me with a bank card and had me send the money to the driver from my phone. She said she didn't want it to come back to her. She told me after the fact what the plan was. Using my phone was to ensure I kept my mouth closed. She kept telling me that Shuang Wen liked me and often asked about me. She also told me that it was Kim Wen's family and his father that made them marry for business and he was miserable. I believed her and tried to start a relationship with him. He told me he had no interest in me and forbade me from ever coming to him. When I heard his wife had not died but was seriously injured, I stopped trying to see him. When I tried to talk with Charlotte again, she had already married Charles Hu and blocked my number. I knew then she had used me to get what she wanted. I hadn't even talked with Charlotte until yesterday when she called me to tell me to leave the city. I will not go anywhere because I did not have anything to do with her twisted plan. She did all of this just to get Charles Hu after Zhao's family kicked him out and he had no more money. Did she tell you she slowly poisoned her husband with a poison she bought from a guy from Japan? It's untraceable unless you know what you're looking for. Then she refused to allow the doctors to treat him properly and lied about what was wrong with him. I tried to tell the nurse but she caught me and told security I was trying to harm him. I was banned from entering the hospital. I even tried to go to his family but was told that he was no longer a part of their family," she told him all of this with conviction. Jin nodded his head and informed her that he was going to check her story, "If anything you told me is untrue, I will be back and you will lose an arm or several fingers," he told her and turned to walk out of the room. 

Jin walked back into the room where the others were. He walked up to Xi-wang Zhao and asked, "Do you remember anyone coming to tell you what was going on with your son?" Xi-wang sat there for a few minutes in thought and then looked at his assistant, "Was she the woman who came to the gate looking for me? Send her picture to the guards and ask them if they remember her," he ordered. The assistant looked at her and turned to his boss, "Sir, she is indeed the woman who came making noise and stating that Yichen was in trouble. This was about two days after he called you," he informed Xi-wang. Brenda Jiang was indeed telling him the truth. Jin turned to Xi-wang and asked, "Mr. Zhao, your son Ximen, he was there that day wasn't he?" Xi-wang looked at Jin and nodded his head. Jin stated, "This woman is telling the truth. She was not part of the plan but was supposed to be a scapegoat for Charlotte Hu to place the blame. As you heard Mr. Wen, she used Brenda Jiang to court you so that she could alienate you from your wife and Charles Hu." Shuang Wen looked at Brenda Jiang and he believed her as well. It was her who tried to warn him that Charlotte was up to something and he should be careful. He did not want to see her anymore and forbade her from coming before him. He just wanted to focus on getting his wife better. 

Xi-wang Zhao sat there feeling remorseful. He understood his actions caused the death of his son. He was so angry with Yichen for not listening to him that Charlotte was only after his money and did not really care for him. Yichen was like his mother and had a soft heart. He fell in love with Charlotte at first sight. He was determined to be with her at all costs and it cost him his life. Xi-wang was filled with guilt and anger at himself at Charlotte and her greed. He stomped his cane on the floor and said to Jin, "Go in and talk with this Charlotte. I want to hear her admit what she did facing all of this evidence. Then I want her DEAD!" he screamed. He had not cried since his beloved wife died many years ago. He could not control the sobs that racked his body. Turning to look at him, Jin told him, "Mr. Zhao, don't worry, I will get her confession. I will also provide you with a great surprise. Just sit here and watch for it," He turned and walked out of the room. Anson checked on Annie who was sitting there quietly watching her father. "Angel are you okay?" he whispered in her ear. She turned and looked at him and nodded, "I'm a little worried for my father. He must be feeling awful that he did not realize he married a monster," she said trying to hold back her tears. 

Everyone watched as Jin walked into the room with Charlotte. Flipping on the bright lights, he walked slowly towards Charlotte with a sneer on his face, "Mrs. Hu, it's been a while since last we met." Charlotte had to blink her eyes to adjust to the bright light after sitting in the dark for hours. She inhaled sharply upon seeing Jin walk into the room, "Why is it you? What is it you want? Do you not know who my husband is? You untie me now!" she shouted at him. Jin smiled as he sat in the chair across from her and asked, "Do you think I'd be here if I didn't have something important to tell you? You know I was investigating what happened to my "uncle" Yichen. Haven't you realized I've figured out what you've done," he stated to her. He watched as her expression went from confident to nervousness. "I don't care what you think you've found. My husband died from a disease. Your Zhao family cut us off and did not even have the decency to come to see him," she spat with disgust at Jin. Jin looked at her and started to laugh, "You are truly a piece of work Mrs. Hu. First, you poison him with an untraceable Japanese poison, then you deny the doctor's from treating him properly, and then you had him cremated so that his family would not have any chance at exhuming his body to check for poisons. You thought of everything didn't you?" he asked her matter of factly. Charlotte wasn't surprised that he found this information out. She knew what was in the medical reports Dr. Xu gave to him. She sat there with a crooked smile on her face, "Whatever you think you have is not enough to convict me in a court of law. Can you prove I purchased poison from someone in Japan? I was a loving wife who could not stand to see the doctor's experiment on my dying husband. I just didn't want him to suffer any longer." Jin watched her closely and admitted to himself that this woman was truly despicable. "Really, so what if I told you your husband didn't die after all...what would you say?" he asked studying her for her reaction. Charlotte's eyes widened in surprise before she regained her composure, "I saw my husband's dead body before it was wheeled out and taken to the morgue. What are you playing at?" she asked. Jin took out his phone and sent a message. They both sat staring at each other until the door opened and in walked Yichen Zhao. Charlotte thought she was seeing a ghost at first until he walked closer towards her and then she fainted.

Xi-wang Zhao jumped from his chair and walked closer to the monitor. "WHAT IS THIS? IS THIS REALLY MY SON?" He shouted in excitement. Lei looked at Anson who nodded his head in consent to explain. "Mr. Zhao, Jin Ouyang found out while he was investigating that Ximen Zhao came to the hospital the day Yichen was supposed to have died. He instructed the staff to stage Yichen's death in order to get him safely out of the hospital and away from Charlotte. When they wheeled him out of the room, instead of taking him to the morgue as she thought, they took him by ambulance to another hospital in a neighboring town. Ximen made sure he was cared for before he left for his military duties last year. He never told you because he was afraid you would be angry and would not allow him to care for him. He wanted Yichen to wake up from his coma first before telling you. Yichen only woke up six months ago, but could not speak nor walk. He was moved to a rehabilitation facility where he received therapy to walk and talk again. Jin found him yesterday and told him what was going on. He agreed to come today to confront Charlotte after hearing about everything she had done. He was most angry with her about what she did to his daughter." Lei explained all of this to an excited Xi-wang who wanted to leave the room and go to his son. Andrew Wen stopped him and said, "Xi-wang, I know you want to see your son but wait just a little longer, please. Let the plan continue until we get all the information we need." Xi-wang nodded his head but never took his eyes off his son. 

Jin had a chair brought in and Yichen sat beside him to wait for Charlotte to wake up. Jin nodded to the man standing behind Charlotte who threw water into her face. Jumping and gasping for air, Charlotte looked at Yichen sitting in front of her and stammered, "No...no...no, I saw you dead...how could this be?" Yichen looked at the woman he gave everything up for. Gone was the love he once felt for her and in its place was pure hatred. He looked at Charlotte and wanted to reach across the table and strangle her until she couldn't breathe any longer. "I know you wanted me dead Charlotte. Sorry to disappoint you," he said sarcastically. "If my brother hadn't arrived in time and had the nurses help fake my death, you just might've gotten away with it. I've spent almost ten years in a coma. If the doctors hadn't finally found out what you poisoned me with, I might still be in a coma. I gave up everything because of you. You knew how to hurt I was that I couldn't be with my father and brother. My father tried to warn me that you were only after my money but I couldn't see that. I thought you love me. How stupid was I?" he explained shaking his head. Charlotte looked at Yichen and smiled, "You were very stupid. I told you not to give up the money. I told you we could be together in secret but you insisted on getting married instead. Once Amber came, I felt trapped and gave in for her sake. How could you think I was happy? I lived my whole life poor, I thought you would change my life but instead, you gave it all up!" she stated. Yichen remembered what the doctor told him before leaving. If he became too upset, he may hamper his progress. Standing he stated, "I've already reached out to an attorney. I've filed for a divorce and will not have anything else to do with you from this day forward." he turned and left the room. Standing outside the door he steadied his breath and slowly made his way to the room Jin told him to go to. 

Yichen slowly opened the door to find his father standing there in tears. Xi-Wang moved forward-leaning on his cane to assist him to get to his son. He grabbed Yichen in his arms and they both stood there hugging and crying. "I'm so sorry son for not being there when you needed me. I'm so sorry son...so sorry." Yichen was so glad to see his father who he thought would never forgive him for abandoning his family. "Dad, I'm the one who is sorry for not listening to you. I'm so sorry you grieved for me all these years. I had no right to put you through all this pain." Lei insisted both men take a seat and rest. He then provided them with warm water to help them calm down. Xi-wang then explained everything they found out Charlotte had done and how they planned to deal with her. "She deserves to be put to death. All of this because she was hungry for money," Yichen started looking at the screen in fury. He then asked his father, "Where is Amber? Does she know that her mother tried to set her up? Does she know that her mother tried to kill me?" he bombarded his dad with questions. "She knows her mother dressed like her to get into Kim Wen's room. I don't think she knows that it was her mother who tried to kill you. She still thinks you're dead. She has been put to sleep in the next room because I didn't want her to know what has been going on yet. We will talk to her when she wakes up." Yichen tried to stand, "I just want to see her. I have been dreaming of my daughter for years. Please dad," he begged his dad. Xi-wang looked at his son and understood what he was going through, he just had his son returned to him so he knew his son just wanted to see his daughter. He nodded his head and asked his assistant to take them to her room. Standing they both left the room. 

Jin opened the folder in front of him and began to talk with Charlotte once again, "How lucky are you that you won't be charged for the death of your husband? But not so lucky in the deaths of Caroline Hu and Kim Wen," he clicked his tongue and shook his head. Charlotte looked down at the folder and saw pictures of Caroline Hu and Kim Wen, she saw circles around the image of herself and Brenda Jiang in the background. She decided to put all the blame on Brenda, "It was Brenda Jiang who planned and executed that plan. I was just her friend and supported her. She was in love with Shuang Wen for a long time. I saw Charles Hu when I visited my husband's grave at the cemetery. You want to blame somebody goes find her. Why are you coming to me with this?" she asked. Jin smiled and explained, "I already spoke with Brenda Jiang. She has already told me everything I need to know. I have the evidence to prove it.
