Maybe they had expected too much before that everything would be going fine whenever they were together, that everything would fall under their plans and everything would be as easy as a piece of cake. Maybe they were so used to what had happened from the past two stages that they had expected the other stages to be not as hard as to how they were experiencing now.
Maybe it could be like that, they could go to the levels without thinking of any other things but the enemies and what kind of level the next point they were set to go in.
