Alice's POV
So that means it was Griffin who slapped Mr. Leo. But why..? Oh God, what’s going on in this man’s mind?
Then Griffin said, “It’s nothing.”
I said, “But Alpha, you’re bleeding.”
Griffin, in his deep voice, said to Lucus, “Give me the first aid box.”
Lucus, who was sitting in front, took out a first aid box from the dashboard and handed it over.
Griffin passed the box to me and said, “Do whatever you want.”
I quickly took the first aid box and cleaned the blood from his wound, then bandaged it.
Griffin loosened the knot of his tie and leaned back against the seat, closing his eyes.
Even while sleeping, Griffin looked just as handsome as he did during our college days.
A while later, we reached the venue. The place was absolutely beautiful, and the decoration was very elegant.
I stepped out of the car, and just then, Griffin came beside me and told the driver and Lucus, “You both can head home now.”
Both Lucus and the driver nodded respectfully to Griffin and left.
He told them to go home, but why did he keep me here?
Just then, I felt a warm touch on my waist. I looked down and saw Alpha’s hand there — and I got goosebumps.
Griffin’s charming voice whispered in my ears, “Shall we, Miss Alice?”
I came back to my senses. I was very nervous at that moment. One touch from Griffin was enough to make my heart race.
I tried to remove his hand from my waist, but Griffin said, “Don’t.”
Griffin’s right hand was fully wrapped around my waist, and he led me forward.
It was a business party, attended by all the renowned people of the city, most of them with their partners.
The moment we entered the main hall, all eyes turned toward Griffin and me.
I became even more nervous.
That’s when Griffin said in his deep voice, “Relax, sweetheart. I’m with you. Relax.”
And as he said that, he tightened his grip on my waist, pulling me even closer.
Then a man around 50 approached us and said, “Griffin, my boy! How are you? You look so handsome today!”
Griffin, with no particular expression, replied, “As always. I’m always handsome, Uncle Davis.”
Mr. Davis laughed and said, “Of course, my child!”
Then Mr. Davis’s eyes fell on me, and he asked, “Who is this beautiful girl?”
Mr. Davis looked at me and Griffin with suspicion, so I quickly cleared up his doubt and said,
“I’m Alpha’s personal assistant, sir.”
Mr. Davis smiled and said, “Nice to meet you, Miss…?”
“Alice,” Griffin said in his deep voice.
Mr. Davis replied, “Ohhh, nice name, Alice.”
Then Mr. Davis said, “Have some drinks, man,” and called out to a waiter.
The waiter served us drinks. I didn’t take any since I don’t drink alcohol.
Just then, a lady approached and hugged Griffin, saying, “Griffin, my darling!”
She had a drink in her hand and was wearing very expensive clothes. She was Mrs. Davis, Mr. Davis’s wife.
Mrs. Davis said, “Griffin, you’ve forgotten us now, haven’t you, dear? Don’t you miss your aunt and uncle?”
Griffin replied gently, “Because of work, I haven’t been able to meet you, Aunt.”
Mrs. Davis sighed and said, “Yes, now you’re the Alpha of the entire pack. You must have so much work.
Oh, my child must be working so hard. I won’t spare your dad for making you work so much!”
Mrs. Davis was sweet and funny, but then she said something that made my heart feel shattered.
She said, “So Griffin, have you found your mate yet? We always wished our daughter Olivia would be your mate, but I guess Goddess Moon had other plans.”
To that, Griffin took a sip of his drink and said, “Still waiting for her, Aunt.”
Mrs. Davis replied, “It’s okay, dear. You’ll find your mate soon. Now go dance and enjoy the party.”
Then her eyes landed on me, and she asked, “Who is this girl?”
Mr. Davis answered, “Griffin’s personal assistant.”
Mrs. Davis smiled at me and said, “She’s really beautiful. Go, dance with Griffin. Enjoy the party.”
Before I could refuse, Griffin had already pulled me onto the dance floor.
My hands were trembling. Griffin placed one hand on my waist and held my hand with the other.
Griffin leaned in and whispered softly in my ear, “Let’s dance, Miss Alice. Don’t act like a dumb.”
I seriously don’t get it — why does Griffin always call me dumb? Okay, maybe I’m a bit dumb… but not that much.
While dancing, Griffin and I were so close, our breaths were colliding.
Then Griffin pulled me even closer, and I could hear his heartbeat — loud and fast.
The music was slow, and Griffin’s hands were wrapped around my waist.
That’s when I asked him, “Alpha, can I ask you something?”
Griffin just looked at me and said, “Hmm.”
I asked, “Alpha, haven’t you found your mate yet?”
Griffin replied softly, “No.”
I was surprised and asked, “But why haven’t you found her?”
To which Griffin looked into my eyes and said, “Maybe she’s under a misunderstanding.”
I asked curiously, “What kind of misunderstanding?”
Griffin held my gaze and replied, “That maybe I won’t accept her… or maybe that I love someone else.”
For a moment, it felt like Griffin was talking about me.
But the next moment, I convinced myself — maybe Griffin likes someone else, like he did in college…
Leave it…
I didn’t say anything further. I was hurting. That same pain in my chest started to return.
A while later, we left the party and went to Griffin’s penthouse for our second meeting.
Today really was a hectic schedule.
As I stepped out of the car, my feet were aching. I could barely walk in those heels.
Griffin stopped me and said, “Wait.”
He bent down and touched my pale feet — I let out a soft gasp.
Then I realized, Griffin was removing my shoes.
The moment he did, I felt relieved. My poor feet had turned red.
Griffin asked with concern, “Does it still hurt?”
I replied, “No, Alpha.”
Griffin said, “Let’s go.”
We started walking into the penthouse. Griffin was still holding my heels in his hands.
I wanted to ask him to give them to me, but I couldn’t bring myself to say it.
The penthouse was by the sea — not too big, not too small, but truly luxurious.
We went upstairs to Griffin’s room.
Griffin said, “Go freshen up.”
I said, “Alpha, but what about our meeting?”
To which Griffin replied, “I canceled it.”
