Joelien Point OF View
After Josh left she took the time to go shower then thought after she shower to visit the old graves of her two daughter Mila and Mia . By taking her Horse Spirit out little for a run to visit the craves on the top of the hill.
On her way to the grave she halt the horse in the middle of the field of wild daisies thought about grabbing a boutique of daisies for the graves on her way. When she gather enough she clime back on her white horse spirit then head to the hill where the two grave stones stood under old willow tree.
Joelien stood there in front of the two graves for long time staring at it with tears running down her cheeks. The in craved letter in the stones break her heart more as she read the names of her daughters .
Mila Bentley and Mia Bentley.
Her hand began to shook so as soft sobs left her lips. Her daughters never got to have the chance to live life and what only remain in this life of them was the two gray stones what stood under the big tree.
After view minutes she finally got the courage to defied the boutique of daisies in two half and place it down on the two graves.
But as she did her heart break more and she could not speak but only cried as she stood there. Her heart was broken and she could feel her body shake of the hurt in her. She stood there for long time crying until she felt the tears dried up but the hurt remain in her heart and her body was still shaking a soft sobs left her lips.
Until she felt a chill crawled slowly up the back of her neck. And then she got the glimpse of the familiar scent of perfume what she would never forget .
She instant knew who it was and it was not her imagine nation .She didn’t need to turn around to know who it was. Her heart knew this man so well that she could feel his warm a mile away as he stood behind her and she could hear his foot steps as he come closer.
Driven….. her mind remind her . It could only be him.
She turned slowly, meeting the gaze she had once fallen in love with—those deep blue eyes that always felt as though they could read her soul. Even if they was not together was Driven still a good looking man. With his perfect blond hair fall need to the side and his perfect skin with his handsome futures .
Her heart gave its usual painful leap, even though he was no longer hers, even though he had a wife and a daughter now.
“Driven,” she said, forcing a small smile.
She couldn’t help letting her eyes drift over him.
He wore a crisp clean baby blue light formal shirt what was view bottoms untied at the top revealing his handsome man chest , and with matching black pants, and to finest the formal look off with polished shoes.
He must have been on his way to work, she thought to herself. And as always, he looked impossibly handsome—too handsome, standing there casually with his hands in his pockets, making her blood pressure rise with just his presence. All those years she still feel that heat build up in her even if they was not together any more.
But the main question was why was he here and how did he have found him. She haven’t seen him in months.
She tried to wipe the last tears of her cheeks when he say “ The flowers looked lovely what you bring for our daughters they would love it”
It was painful to see him after all this time and here at the graves . her eyes remain on him as he come to stand next to her staring at the two graves stones a head them . The two of them stood quiet for second then she hear him speak again “ Why did you not tell me about your anemia have gotten worst that you need blood fusion”
Joelien was stump when she hear him say that. How did he knew . she turned to him with confusion in her eyes. Of course.
She come to realize. It hit her like a brick wall . He was still friends with her doctor. Their history ran deep, even after everything that had happened.
Joelien have forgot that he still have contact with her doctor.
“So I guess you heard everything.” She mutter the words out.
A wave of fatigue washed through her, she could felt the tiredness in her body take the lead. Maybe it was the grieve or her Anemia what make her feel so tired again.
She bit her lower lip, steadying herself, then notice a big old stomp of a tree what lay nearby and walked over to it and sat down on it. As she sat she could feel the heaviness in her body.
“Are you going to take the blood transfusions?” Driven asked. “The doctor say it would help you and this would be good for you”
She lifted her gaze to him and saw the worry in his eyes. The same look he used to give her during the worst moments of her life when they have lost they child , the same look that once made her feel safe. He was always her rock. But they weren’t together anymore. And reminding herself leave sharp pain in her chest.
“Yes… I start treatment on Monday.” She finally answer his question.
Silence settled between them, thick and heavy. He shook his head slightly, absorbing her words, but she could feel the unsaid things lingering between them, hanging like a weight neither dared to touch. She tried to ignore it, though her heart ached with questions—why he had slept with that woman… why he had destroyed everything they had.
They had a future together, they have just got married. But he have to destroyed everything they have built.
The pain began to rise again, burning behind her eyes. She turned her head quickly, staring toward her horse as ate from the grass, not wanting Driven to see her cry. The past still hurt so much. She could not face him. And hated that he is here now. Why did he come here.?
“Do you have someone to help you?” he asked quietly. “I mean… when you start your treatment, you’ll need someone to drive you home…. You going to feel weak after wards and need help with it”
That was the moment her emotions broke loose. He has cross the line. She shot up from the log of tree, tears already welling in her eyes as she shot him a hurtful look.
“Stop,” she whispered, voice trembling. As she looked at him with tears running down her face. Her chest tight as she looked at him . He could not do this to her . Being all caring after everything he have done to her.
Driven’s brows furrowed in confusion. He looked at her as if he didn’t understand what he’d done wrong.
“Don’t do that,” she said again, louder this time, tears shining on her cheeks. “You can’t just come here and act like that……. Who the hell give you the right to be all caring all the sudden. ”
Her heart pounded painfully as the words spilled out—raw, honest, and uncontrollable.
“I’m worried about you Joel’s,” Driven said softly. “You can’t do all of this on your own.”
His voice lace with worried. But it make everything worst . She looked at him her jaw tight as tears run down her face uncontrolled of the emotion in her.
“Don’t come here and tell me you are worried about me” she says with broken voice as she looked at him. The soon she say those words she saw his blue eyes turned in hurt. The same looked he give her when they ended everything. But before she knew it she notice he move his space and full it as he come to stand before her now and looked down at her .
“ You cannot do this on your own “ he say as she stood before her “ Let me help you with driving take you to the doctor and back when the treatment is done …… I just want to help you Joel’s don’t be so stubborn ”
Hurt tightened in her chest, and a soft, shaky sob slipped from her lips before she could hold it back. She turned her face away from him, wiping her tears quickly with trembling fingers. She don’t want to show this in front of him. It was silly of her but she was still in pain. They have may break up now a year ago but she was still in pain. Because Driven was more than friend to her. She have known him for five years now and they was first friend before their have dated and got engage.
“You are the last one to tell me I cannot do this on my own” she murmured, her voice breaking as she turned to him with hurt in her eyes “ You are the one who destroyed our marriage and now you want to sudden out now where cared about me”
She wasn’t fine. Her inner wanted to scream at him. Shouting all the hurtful words what she have burled up inside her in months. She hated him and then she still love him. And seeing him here today break everything inside her.
She was falling apart right there in front of him, pieces of her heart falling to her feet. And then—warmth.
For second she holds her breath when she felt his touch.
His hand slid gently over hers, the kind of touch she knew too well, the kind of touch she had missed more than she dared to admit. Every part of her wanted to pull away… yet she couldn’t. Her hand stayed still in his, as if it remembered him even when she wished it wouldn’t.
“You’re not fine,” he whispered.
She lifted her gaze, meeting his eyes—and saw tears there. Real tears. His features were tight, pained, broken in a way that matched the cracks inside her.
“Let me help you, Joel’s,” he pleaded, his voice thick as a tear slid down his cheek. “I know I’ve hurt you. I don’t blame you for anything you feel. But please… let me at least be your friend right now. Let me help you.”
Her eyes searched his, those blue, shattered eyes she once trusted with everything she had. And a part of her wanted to say yes—a desperate, lonely part that longed for the comfort he used to bring. But her heart was too raw.
Too wounded. Too full of scars that still bled. She was too broken and nothing would ever piece the parts together again.
He had broken her in ways that couldn’t be undone. His touch was toxic as she stood there in front of him vulnerable and in pain. His hands moved up to her face , cupping her face in both of his hands then she felt his thump brushing away her tears from her cheeks. She almost hold her breath when she looked up and felt his touch as he wipe her tears off. ‘
They eyes locked and for moment everything around them faded away like it was only the two of them. Flashes of her memories of him flashed before her eyes as she looked at him. Five years knowing him. Matter what she do he would always be the man who own her heart.
And just like that she was drawn back to reality. She could not pretend to be his friend or to be okay.
His daughter was turning one next week—the child he had made with another woman. The child he had married that woman for. That truth was a knife she still felt every day.
The one thing what she crave in life was he having with another woman. It was too painful to know that he have a child with her. After they both have loose two .
The pain surged too sharply. So take a stepped backwards puling herself out of his touch out of his hold, stepping back as if distance could protect her.
“I think it’s better if I do this on my own, Driven,” she whispered. “ I would drive myself to the doctor and drive myself back home “
He stood there, completely still, tears streaking quietly down his face. “I’m always going to care about you,” he said faintly. “I know you hate me for everything but at least let me do this one thing right at you and help you with this “
His words sliced deeper than anything else. She sucked in a breath that shuddered through her whole body, another soft sob escaping.
“That’s the problem,” she whispered. “We both care too much. And that’s why we can’t do this together…….. You have family now and I am no longer your problem anymore”
Her voice nearly broke on the last word. She could see her own pain reflected in his eyes—the grief, the longing, the too-late regrets. There were so many things left unsaid between them, but none of them could fix what life had already broken.
And so she turned away.
She walked towards her horse, even as her legs felt heavy and weak, even as tears streamed freely down her cheeks. The rawness of their divorce still clung to them, even after a year. She knew he still loved her. She knew she still loved him. But this—this moment—proved it more painfully than anything else.
They could not do this together.
He had made a family with someone else. Built a life he couldn’t unmake. And she… she had to learn how to live without him.
She got on her horse and grab on to the leather strings of her horse then turned her horse and ride away from him. She needs to get away from her and as fast she could.
With one last breath, choking and desperate, Joeline left him standing at the grave of their two daughters. She left the man she loved behind. Tears run down her cheeks and she let herself went freely as her ride away on her horse.
