Josh sat beside Joelien in the transfusion unit, his hand wrapped around hers as they waited for the nurse to finish preparing everything.
The room was quiet except for the soft beeping of monitors and the low conversations of other patients receiving treatment. Joelien sat in the large reclining chair, trying to appear stronger than she felt.
"You okay?" Josh asked softly.
She forced a small smile. Even deep inside she hated this and wish she just can get this over.
"I'll be fine…..hopefully this would be over soon” said Joelien.
The nurse approached carrying a bag of deep red blood and carefully hung it on the IV pole beside Joelien's chair.
"Everything looks good," the nurse said warmly. "We'll start slowly and keep an eye on you."
