The moment the words left his lips, she squealed with excitement, jumped up from her chair, ran over to him, and threw her arms around him. “Lucas, that is wonderful news!” she said, hugging him tightly.
Lucas hugged her back, and when he pulled away, he said, “That is why I need your help with the ring. I want to go ring shopping.”
Joelien looked at her cousin, tears welling in her eyes.
She felt so proud that he had asked her. “I would be honored to help you,” she said with a big smile. “In fact, I am the one who introduced the two of you!”
Lucas nodded, his smile growing even brighter. “That is true. So you have to help me, Miss Cupid,” he teased.
