I would have to let him go, but could I do it? I just knew that, If he were to find his mate, I would not stand a chance aganist her. Just thinking about never seeing him again or touching him, made my heart bleed.
"Why are crying?" I hear him asking me.
Crying? Who was crying? What is he talking about? My muddled mind wonders
"I'm not crying," I tell him quickly snapping out of these, forlorn thoughts.
Ethan wipes my cheeks with his hand, and shows me that it's wet. I touch my face, and yes it was indeed wet.
I was so caught up with my heart breaking, into pieces on the inside, that I hadn't even realise that, I was crying on the outside. Why was this love soo unpredicablly wonderful and unbearably painful at the same time? I mused to myself, trying really hard to be realistic in this love thing.
"What's wrong bebé?" he asks pulling my body close to his, placing light butterfly kisses all over my face.
"You need to find your mate Ethan, I realise now how important, this to your kind," I hiccuped out, feeling the tears still falling now.
"But that's exactly it, I think I have found her!" he tells me excitedly, with a big grin on his face.
"What! You did, when?" I exclaimed harshly, pulling away from him, but instead of letting me go, he only pulls me closer.
"What are doing Ethan!" I demand, getting angry now and feeling like a fool. "You need to let me go!
I didn't understand it, if he had found his mate, why did he make me his girlfriend? Was this some kind of cruel joke? I thought to myself. I needed the truth now!
"If you found your mate, why did you make me your girlfriend!" I yell angrily at him, trying harder to get free of him.
"Stop fighting me bebé. It's you!" he tells me earnestly.
I feel the strength suddenly leaves my body, and I stopped fighting him. My mind trys to grasp onto the meaning of his words, but all it feels, is lost in this maze of his words
"What do you mean?" I asked, seeking clarification from him.
"Angelia, you are my goddess choosen mate," Ethan tells me, with a wide toothly grin on his handsome face.
Me? No, I didn't hear him correctly. How could I be Ethan's mate, I wasn't even a were-wolf. I didn't even have powers, I was just a lowly human in the mix of things. My sane mind internalise realistically.
"When we first met, I wasn't one hundred percent sure at first, because your scent was faint and were not yet eighteen. However, when you ran away, my wolf went crazy and we had to find you."
"When I found you at the inn, I knew without a doubt that it was you, you are my mate," he slowly tells me, as if giving me the time needed, to absorb his words.
A shiver of unparallel ecstasy, slowly begins spreading over my still shellshock body, unwinding it bit by bit, every where it touched me. Until, my body was completely feeling warm and beaming with an untamed energy of happiness.
I take in a deep breath and blew it out slowly to calm myself, because I didn't quite feel like myself.
"I don't understand, I didn't realise that we both needed to be at least eighteen, for you to recognize your mate" I query still lost about how, this mate thing actually was suppose to work, since I was not a were-wolf.
"Were-wolves recognises their mate first by scent, you smell like roses and baked apple pie, my favorite scents," he says to me, caressing my hair.
"Yes, you did tell me that at the lake," I tell him, remembering that day.
"I couldn't keep my hands off you, but I wasn't sure as you were only seventeen," he explains the delima he went through
"Which is why, I tried to keep away from you until you turned eighteen, when I would know for sure."
"Ok. I understand all of that, but Ethan I am not a were-wolf," I say resignly, pulling out from his arms, watching his face for a reaction.
"You know my family history, my father was human and mom is part fairy, part sorceress," I conclude for him
"That part, I am still working on, which is why we need keep this between us for now," he tells me with a frown.
"So in other words, you don't want anyone to know that we are mates? I say rethorically, trying not to get upset but still feeling a way.
"I just need some time, to do some research, and when I'm ready, I will declare you as mines to the entire pack," he elaborates his intention in precise detail.
"Ok, so are we just normal girlfriend and boyfriend then?" I ask him, hoping at least that this part hadn't been change.
"Yes, as I said before, just for now," he says me with a glint in his eyes, looking at me intently
"For now then," I repeat in confirmation, agreeding to his wishes. I will give him the time, to do what he needs to keep us together.
"But what do you mean by declaring me yours?" I ask, a bit unsure about that part.
"It means that, in human terms you will become my wife," he whispers seductively with a smug smile, his eyes darking now, till they were black as a moonless night.
"There will be a ceremony to introduce you before the pack, where I will mark you," he says nonchalently, as if it was a regular occurence.
"Mark me? How?" I enquire of him, unsure about the details of the actual ceremony. Did they wear a white dress, or maybe just regular clothes, I wasn't sure what was required of me.
"You said you read up about us, wasn't this part of it covered?" he asks me, trying to guage how much I knew.
"I can't remember everything, I read," I tell him, trying to recall these details from the book.
"Ok. Well during the short ceremony, which will be held on a new moon, basically, the Leader of the Counsel of Elders, will declare us mates and we will be given a silver knife, where I will make a small incision on your palm and you will do the same to me,"
"Then we will join our palms together, in harmony and utter a plea of acceptance of each other. Then I will, bite you on the right side of your neck as a sign of belonging to me and me alone," he explains in detail."
"Will it hurt, you biting me?" I ask him anxiously.
"Only for a little while, I need my incisors to reach your blood, where I can release my wolf toxcins into your bloodstream," Ethan further explains
" You want to know why, right?" he asks me rethorically. I nod my head in agreement to this.
"It's required, so that my mark of ownership can form on your skin, it only fades in death,"he explains quite seriously.
"So it's sorta like, branding me" I tell him, getting a clearer picture of it all now.
"I don't really like that word, but I guess it could be used, as it's a clear and direct message to all were-wolves that you are taken by one of them, so paws off," he says jealously, his voice much lower now, not quite sounding like him
"Will I get a ring?" I ask excitedly, not wanting to focus on the marking aspect of it. I just had to know, blame it on the romantic in me.
"No, but if that is what you want, I will get you one " he states earnestly, looking me in the eye.
I felt elated, just thinking about wearing his ring. What more could a girl ask for, besides a ring from the gorgeous man who seem to adore her.
"I should take to see my house, as it would also be your home soon," he adds, teasing me almost.
Of course I want to see the inside of his house and especially, if I was going to be living there soon. Wow! This was all going so fast, I was begining to have some doubts. Was I ready to start living and sleeping in the same bed as Ethan? I mused silently in my head.
"We still have some time, before we reach that living together stage," Ethan says, reading my face. He takes my hands in his, squeezing it lightly in assurance.
"Yes, okay," I say to him, feeling a bit relieved, as this rollercoaster ride of my love life, was still all too new to me.
We spent some time, talking about this and that, just enjoying each other's company. Ethan explained in details the daily routine of the pack, and how the town is incorporated into all of this.
Bluemoon Pack, had several business in Arizona, they owned a large scale security firm which provided security to high paying businesses and politicians. They were into construction and even had a few organic supermarkets. No wonder the town was blooming, they were a wealthy pack.
Sometime, during the night we fell asleep wrapped up in each other's arms.
