"Don't go," I hear myself whisper out loud, into the empty room.
I see Ethan's body stills on the railing, as if unsure of what he heard.
"Please, come back," I plea, with tears forming in my eyes, one teardrop broke free to cascade down my right cheek.
I didn't know if everything, would work out between us, but I was willing to give it my all, as Ethan was my first love, and hopefully the only one.
I had made this decision, without even realising the gravity of it.
Ethan stays perch like that, for a while. I was begining to wonder, if he heard me at all.
I get up off the bed, and take three steps, towards the french doors, ready to go to him on the balcony, when I see him jump backwards, off the railing and back onto the balcony, landing softly on his feet like a huge graceful cat.
We meet one another halfway, wrapping our arms around each other, holding on tightly, Ethan places his face, in the crook of my neck, not wanting to let go.
After a few minutes like that, he pulls his head away and kisses me, on the lips deeply. He forces my mouth open, asaulting my tongue with his, twirl it around with his larger hot one.
I feel something hard poking at my stomach, I had a fair idea, of what it might be, and that turns me on, getting me wet, between the legs.
Ethan stops kissing me, and sniffs the air between us. He grins wickedly, then says
"I love the way, your body response to me."
"It's like struming a guitar, creating music, bending it to my will, with a stroke here and a caress there," he says poeticly.
"Only you, can stroke the strings on this guitar, bring out it's music, making it feel alive," I joined in poeticly, smiling at my silly lines.
Ethan burst out laughing, his face lighting up, he looks so young at this moment. I could almost see, the boy he used to be in this intance.
The laughter dies down, and he kisses my nose lightly.
"If there is one thing, I am sure of, is that being with you, there will never be a dull moment," he says to me smiling still.
I stare at him, and he stares back at me, lost in each other eyes. He abruptly walks me backwards. The back of my knees, hits the bed. He pushes me down onto it, but I held onto him tighter, making us both collaspe on the bed hard.
"Awwh!" I screech out, with his heavy body halfway ontop of mines.
I am having trouble breathing, when he quickly rolls off me, and pulls me with him, until I am on top of him, with my face laying on his chest.
"Is that better?" he asks, kissing the top of my head, and rubbing my back.
"Yes, much better," I tell him, glad to be able, to breathe freely again.
His hand leaves my back, then begins caressing the top of my head slowly, with his finger tips. He runs them through my hair, twirling it around one of his fingers, playing in it.
We lay like that and don't speak for a while, just absorbing the warmth and feeling of each other. My hands are on his chest, the sound of his heartbeat is loud and strong in my ear. My breathing slows down, and starts to go in sync, with the rise and fall of his massive chest.
"Do you think, there anything else, I should know about you?" I ask hesitantly. I didn't need another surprise, I was still coming to terms, with the first major one.
"Well, I guess by now you know the basic differences, between were-wolves and humans," he says, running his other hand up and down my back.
"Yeah, I read that your kind are stronger, faster, have better hearing and instincts, plus quick healing abilities and I guess stay young too," I quickly recalled all that, I remembered from the book.
"Our hiearchcy, is also very important to us, because without structure, and a strong alpha to lead, a pack can grow weak and fall apart," he emits this piece of information seriously, getting all stiff with me now.
"Oh" was all I could utter, listening intently to his explainations, which I guess made sense.
"We have a Counsel of Elders, which comprises of six older were-wolves, with vast experience, in fighting, leadership and wisdom. All of whom, were selected by the pack, to serve the best interest of the pack."
I lift my head up, off his chest, and hunch on my elbows instead, resting my chin in my hands, entralled by all this politics.
"They posess great influence, which is why the king must now choose a mate,"
He goes on to explain in detail, about the importance of having a true mate, one that makes you stronger, which in turns benefits you and creates a much stronger pack.
"But the king will not have a true mate, worn't that make him weaker," I theorize, based on what he had told me.
"No, a chosen mate, will still make you stronger, maybe not as strong as a true mate," he explains patiently to me.
"So, do you also have to find a mate?" I stutter the question out anxiously, waiting with my heart in my mouth.
The hand on my back stills, and I feel him take in a deep breath, which he lets out slowly through his nose.
I wonder if he is stalling? If so, then why? I questioned myself .
With this thought in my head, it makes me scoot off of him, as if I had been burned.
He took his time to answer, having me wait, until he was ready to speak. My heart starts jerking in my chest, beating faster, making me feel as if, I was running the great race.
Calm down Angelia, calm down! I say to myself silently.
"I do, but I refuse to be force into it, before I am ready," Ethan finally speaks up, with a stubborn look on his face, his brows were all bunched up looking ferocious.
My heart beat levels off, and I can breath normal once again.
This relationship, was going to be the death of me, I preceived. Then another thought hit me hard.
"So why, didn't the Alpha King wait too? I question curiously. If his Beta could wait, so can he, until he was ready.
"Because of his status, and the well being of our kind, he needs an heir to carry on his legcacy" Ethan explains to me patiently.
"Oh," I say still feeling confuse.
One would have thought, that the mighty Alpha King would not, have let a counsel of old wolves, tell him what to do with his love life.
Ethan sits up suddenlly, and leans his back aganist the bed headboard. He had the strangest look on his face, sort of like regret then softly speaks while looking at me
"Or maybe he just gave up."
"Why do you say that?" I ask, wanting to know, his thought process on this matter.
He just sighs deeply again, then grabs me and suddenly rolls me onto my back. I stare up at his face, slightly out of breath by this manouevre and he stares right on back, deeply into my eyes. He is ontop of me, crushing me once more. He seem to notice my distress and lifts some of his weigh off me.
He leans his face close, to capture my lips, in a hot passionate kiss. I feel him capture my hands, in his own and raises them above my head, pressing them firmly aganist the bedsheet. He pulls his lips away, from the kiss to stare into my eyes, as if trying to reach my soul.
Gosh! This man-wolf is intense, and I think I like it, my pea-feathered brain sums up.
"Just imagine as a pup, growing up and hearing, all the wondetful things abouts mates. Watching that magical love story play out between your parents, then seeing it happen to your friends," Ethan says seductively.
"Wanting! No! Longing, more than anything in this world, to find her. Searching through all the packs in the North, East, West and South and still nothing," he breathes these words out huskily, his eyes never leaving mines.
"The years goes by, and that hope starts to dim decade after decade, until you start to believe that maybe, the moon goddess forgot about you, and didn't create your mate," he says sounding desolate.
"That sort of thing, could drive the strongest wolf insane," he ends solemnly, letting go of me, and rolling back onto his back.
Wow! I never knew it was all that. It made me feel sad and even tho, I wanted badly to be with Ethan, I now also wanted him to find his true mate.
