Chapter 10

1528 Words
I stand up, and the books falls to the floor. All these weird titles, alpha and beta. I didn't understand it before, but now I do. Do werewolves eat people? Normal wolves are carnivores, so human flesh is still meat. I wondered, walking back and forth in my room. Ethan is a big bad wolf. I should feel disgusted, but I don't and if given the opportunity, would let him suck on me again, even kiss me next time. I guess, I have a s****l fetish for animals. Werewolves, in particular. I laugh out loud. Something I read, suddenly came to the front of my mind. The words mate. The book explained, that most supernatural creatures have a mate, except vampires, faries and the elves. They get to choose their mates, just like us humans. This means Ethan has a fated mate. Given to him by the Moon Goddess, they worship and deemed to be their god. The book also said at age eighteen, is when they can find them. I wasn't sure how that part worked. Something about sniffing them out, whatever that means. It all sounds pretty strange, but then again so was everything else. So technically, he was married? Is that why he walked away, because of his mate? He had to be at least twenty seven, so I would not expect him to be single. Was it Mary-Ann? She was upset, no wonder she hates my guts. I feel sad. I was a homewrecker at seventeen. Why would he do those things to me, if he had a wife? I mean mate. Was he a cheater then? I didn't want to be involved, in these sort of things. All this moment, all of this was pure speculation. I needed to find out the truth. I needed to clear my head, it was all too much. I pick up the books from the floor, and put them on the small table, next to the loveseat. I walk towards the french window, opening it. I walk onto the small balcony and stare outside, it was almost dark, the sun was setting over the mountains, an orange glow streaking the sky, time for dinner. A few stars, winks at me, more will come out later with the moon, and brighten up the sky. I stayed there, for about ten minutes, just unwinding and processing all the information, I had read. There was still alot, I didn't know. It was now fully night, the moon and stars were showing off their lights to each other. I walk back inside, closing the french doors behind me. I go to my closet and pull out, a brown sun dress from the hanger. I dressed, putting on my sandals. I washed my face, opened the door and head downstairs. I walk into the dining room and meet her there waiting for me. "Did you have a good rest, dear?" Ms. Anna asks me, with a smile. "I couldn't fall sleep, as I am not accustom of sleeping during the daytime," I tell her, shrugging my shoulders. I take a seat, at the table, which was filled with an array of dishes. I filled my plate with chicken, rice and beans and start stuffing my mouth with food. We eat in comfortable silence for a while. I wondered how the bring up the topic of Ethan, without it being too obvious, when she beats me to it, saving me face. "How come Beta Ethan, didn't bring you back home?" Ms. Anna asks glancing at me. "Something came up, I guess," I say, not elaborating. I didn't think that she would approve, of our make out session in his office earlier. "I was reading about a werewolf mates, so have they all have found their mates?" I ask uninterestedly. Just making conversation, yea right? "No, not all of them. A few werewolves have never found their mate. Even after visiting other packs, around the country," she answers me. "That's sad. So do they stay alone, for the rest of their lifes," I ask curiously. "No, they eventually choose a mate, from the unmated female werewolf, who's mate has died or have not been found," Ms. Anna tells me. "It is important for werewolves to have someone. It prevents them from going mad," she says, picking back up her fork and continues eating. Talk about Ethan! I yelled in my mind. I say it over and over again, in my head getting angry. Suddenly, I notice her body freeze, her right hand stills midair, still holding the fork. "Talk about Ethan," she says erily. What the hell! I wonder. Was she having some sort of mental breakdown! "Talk about Ethan," the strange voice coming from her says again. I feel a bit scare, unsure of what to do, or who to even call. Should I do something? I take a deep breath, then ask out in a rush. "Does Ethan has a mate? I wait anxiously, not sure, if I wanted to hear the answer. "No," she answers. "He has not found his mate." I breathe a sign of relief out loud, not realising that, I had been holding my breath. I feel relieved, at least I wasn't a homewrecker. Yaay! This next question was also important. "Is Mary-Ann his girlfriend?" I ask, needing to know. "No," she tell me. I instantly feel over the moon happy. "Mary-Ann is his lover," she continues. My happiness fades. I sigh deeply, getting lost in my thoughts, staring off into space. "My dear, why are you not eating?" I hear Ms. Anna asks. I snap out of my daze and look at her. She seems fine, her body was no longer frozen, and her eyes were her normal shade of blue. I pick up my fork and continue eating. After a while, I pause with the fork midway to my mouth, and looks at her. She pauses also, and stares at me expectantly. I blurt out "I really can't believe, that this is all real." "It is real, believe it," Ms. Anna says, putting her fork down. "How does my mother fit into all this? She is human and has no powers" I say, confusedly. "It is true that she has no powers, but her parents were powerful," she answers. I had poweful grandparents, all I knew was that they were dead. "Your grandfather was a wizard, who met and fell in love with your grandmother, who was a fairy," she explains. "Their love was forbidden so they moved to Bluemoon town, to live their lives," "I don't understand, why didn't mom ever tell me any of this?" I ask upset, pushing away my plate. "How did they die?" I ask cautiously. "We were attack by vampires and rogues werewolves. They had developed a portion, that could make the rogues obedient to them, building themselves an army of rogue wolves," she says solemnly. "We fought with everything we had, but lost many good people, including your grandparents. By the time the Lycan King's soliders reached us, it was too late. Half of the town's population, was wiped out. Many buildings destroyed." Ms. Anna says, with tears in her eyes. "I am sorry, Ms. Anna. I did not mean to make you cry," I tell her, feeling quite sad. "It's okay, history is there to make sure, that we don't make the same mistakes again," she says cryptically. "She had her reasons," Ms. Anna says to me, getting up. "Let retire to the living room," she announce, walking through the doorway. I push back my chair, stand up to follow her. Entering the living room, I see her behind the bar, pouring herself a drink. "Do you want one? she asks me expectantly. "Yes, please," I hurrily say, hoping that she would not change her mind. I had never drank alcohol before, my mom would have a fit, if she found out. She picks up another glass, and pour the red liquid from a bottle into it. She walks over to me, and hands me the glass. I take it and sit on one the couches. She sits opposite me, and takes a sip from her glass. I lift the glass to my nose, smelling it, there was a faint hint of berries. "It's just red wine, from our vineyard," Ms. Anna says, taking another sip. They have a vineyard here? I was amazed at this fact. I open my mouth and take a sip, It taste semi-sweet. I take another sip again. "You need to understand, your mother felt disappointed, that she did not have any powers," Ms. Anna tells me, looking distress. "Just imagine, living in a town with supernatural beings, and you are only human," Ms. Anna explains. "She felt like an outcast, and as soon as she turned eighteen, she left it all behind her, to live in the human world." "She moved so far away, to an island in the caribbean," she states. "So then, why am I here? I don't have any powers either," I exclaim angrily. "That's may not, be quite true," she says seriously looking at me.
