CHAPTER FOUR Erica held her umbrella over her head, hunched over. She gave the front left tire of her old Camry a kick for good measure, muttering darkly beneath her breath as the rain continued to patter along the old road at the base of the mountain. The reaching pines and old trees shivered in delight beneath the droplets, the leaves shuddering and chortling on contact. Erica glanced up and down the dark, worn, solitary road, and staring against the deluge for any indication of the tow truck. “Come on,” she muttered beneath her breath. “Where the hell are you?” She glanced down, fumbling with freezing fingers to pull her phone from her pocket.
