Ch. 26 : Captive News

*Nick Carnia* An annoying, beeping sound woke me and I groaned, moving away from it and tightening my hold on the soft, warm body beside me. The noise stopped after a short while and my mind slowly started to fade back into sleep, but then it started up again, shoving me away from the cozy, blank bliss. I groaned even louder, getting pissed and opened my eyes to find my head nearly laying on a pair of plump, velvety soft breasts. Still ignoring the beeping noise of my phone, I scooted closer and nuzzled against the warm flesh. A giggle rang out from Lora when I did this and I pulled myself even harder against her body, still smiling. Then the beeping started up again. “Dammit!” I hissed, rolling back and away from the perfectly soft and cozy comfort of her embrace. Swinging my legs off the edge of the bed, I muttered random curses under my breath as I got up, looking around the floor where I vaguely knew I had tossed both our phones last night. Annoyingly, the beeping started up once again and I was able to find the small device buried under my suit coat, next to my shoes. “What.” I snapped down the line, not bothering to look at the caller ID as my finger swiped at the answer button. “And a good morning to you too.” My sisters amused voice rang back to me, followed by more laughter from multiple other voices, telling me that she had put me on speaker. “What’s going on Dev?” I asked, sitting on the corner of my bed, turning to smile at Lora as she sat up and stretched her arms above her head. I swallowed hard at the sight and slowly started to turn back to her before Devin’s voice pulled me back to the phone in my hand. “Did you hear me!” She practically yelled, breaking into a fit of giggles. “Hello! Earth to Nick!” I shook my head and forced myself to turn away from Lora, who blushed when she found me looking at her heatedly. “Give the poor woman a break, Nick! She can’t talk yet!” I rolled my eyes, though my smile couldn’t be pushed aside, my own blissful emotions still riding a high I had never experienced before. “What did you say?” I pressed, wanting to refocus the conversation back to what she had apparently tried to tell me. Devin cleared her throat and took a second to stop laughing, her voice sounding much calmer as she answered me, “One of our scout teams just got back, Nick. They have confirmed the presence of prisoners… and most of the captives are young.” My smile was wiped clean off my face, my spine straightening completely as I felt movement shifting the bed behind me. “Pictures?” I asked, needing to know if there was a clear sight of those held captive. I wanted to have something to give to Lora so she could feel even just a tiny bit more confident in our plans and methods to find and rescue her nephew. I could tell that, even though she understood and even agreed with how all of us were doing things, that some tiny little part of her was still afraid. Nervous that she had placed her trust in the wrong people. Or that, maybe, we weren’t as skilled as we claimed to be and were more than likely to get her nephew hurt. Or worse. “Yeah. A whole handful was delivered to my place this morning.” She told me, audibly turning away from her phone and speaking to someone before returning to her phone. “I’ve got everyone gathered here in the lounge again, pulling up a detailed map of the location that one of our scouts drew up.” I nodded along, getting back to my feet and turning to look at Lora, who had been slowly crawling over to me, a question in her beautiful ringed eyes. “We’re trying to plan out our next move now and have already pulled back the rest of our scouts so that they take up patrol around that location.” “Got it.” I answered back, smiling softly at Lora who rose up to her knees, running her hands through her hair. “We’ll be over in a bit.” Devin giggled again as she said, “Don’t take too long, Nick. I’ll time you.” I chuckled at my sister's teasing, lightly tossing my phone on the bed behind Lora before reaching up to cup her face. She smiled as I slowly ran my thumbs over her cheeks, leaning into my touch as she stared up at me. That damn smile, those eyes that glittered and glowed when she looked at me… f**k. All I wanted to do right this second was push her back down onto my bed and keep her there. Feeling the start of our connection as a Matched pair was overwhelming when I recognized it on the dance floor. But once I fully wrapped my mind around it, assisted by the descriptions my sister and Marcus had once told me, I was elated and completely accepted it. And like I had told Lora last night, being Human, and with nothing wedged between us to hinder our bond, I was itching to solidify our connection further. And the first thing that had popped into my mind was establishing a solid foundation for our bond. And the best way to do that was physical closeness or intimacy. Lora, quite clearly, knew this and welcomed my eagerness and touch. Though the fact that she was still a virgin stunned me, I was more than prepared to ease her into what she wanted. I didn’t want to cause her any pain, and did my best to guide her through it slowly. Though, my own impatience grew and grew until I just had to have her, I was still able to hold off before I rushed it and caused her greater pain. At least, from what I saw, I hoped so. And now, knowing that pictures have been gathered. Knowing that our scouts witnessed the gathering of Hunters and the presence of captives. I had to step out of our blissful little bubble, take her with me into the harsh reality that she had escaped from. I also knew she would want to know about her nephew, especially with how worried she had been when she first awoke in that spare room. “That was my sister.” I told her, leaning down to kiss her slightly swollen lips, needing to at least kiss her to sate the growing need that was rising again. “Our scouts delivered pictures that they took of captives being held in one of the locations we sent them to.” Her eyes widened and took hold of both my wrists, hope blooming in her eyes as she searched through mine. “Dev and the others are at the lounge right now, planning and plotting the next steps to take so we can free everyone those Hunters have locked up.” Lora then shot to the side of the bed and jumped to her feet, making me have to turn away from her as her breasts bounced with her urgent movements. I moved towards my closet and searched through it, pulling on a t-shirt, boxers and gym shorts before grabbing at another shirt similar to mine, just in a different color. She smiled and pulled it on when I turned and offered it to her, looking down at herself and tugging at the end of my shirt. It covered the top half of her perfectly, though left nothing to the imagination. But her legs, those toned and smooth long legs of hers, were completely exposed, thanks to my shirt stopping a few inches down her thighs. “Oh, fuck.” I groaned out, clearing my throat when I caught the husky tone that I hadn’t intended to come out of me. She smiled bigger, the blush coating her sun-kissed cheeks glowing brighter as she tucked her hair behind her ear shyly. I couldn’t help myself, my arm shooting out and pulling her to me, kissing her hard and smiling when she gasped and moaned against my lips. “I’m gonna need to find something else for you to wear.” I told her, speaking against her bright pink lips as she smiled and giggled. “I won’t be able to pull myself away from you if you stay in this.” Then, a rattling faintly echoed from somewhere in my house, followed by the sound of my front door slamming open and loud, heavy footsteps moving towards my bedroom door. I quickly pulled Lora back and behind me, my hand taking hold of the gun I kept hidden between my folded sweatpants in my closet. I raised the weapon, my finger hovering over the safety, and waited for my doorknob to move. My eyes narrowed as I waited, dangerous and deadly thoughts filling my head as I tried to find a way to get Lora out of here safely without exposing her too much, in case the enemy also had a gun. But I needn’t have bothered. “Put the gun away Nick!” Nyla’s amused voice rang out from just outside my bedroom door. I huffed and sagged once I realized that there was no danger, dropping my arms and placing the gun back into the now messy stack of sweats on the shelf. Lora’s laughter made me turn, finding nothing but amusement dancing in her eyes as she covered her mouth with her hands, attempting to muffle her giggles. “What’s so funny?” I asked her, raising my fingers up and wiggling them at her, watching her eyes widen at the clear threat I was hinting at. She shook her head, still smiling, and backed up further into my closet, nearly covering herself by my hanging clothes. “Nick! Lora!” Nyla shouted once more, knocking on the door. “Don’t make me have to pull you apart! I’ll spray you with ice water if you don’t cool it!” I groaned and shook my head, gently tugging Lora out and into my arms by her wrist. “We’re f*****g coming!” I shouted back, hearing Lora giggle even harder. “Eww!” Nyla answered, hitting the door harder. “I don’t need to know that!” Shuffling could be heard from the other side of the door before Nyla spoke again. “I brought a bag of clothes for Lora… hurry up!” Chuckling, I waited until I no longer heard Nyla near my door and went over to open it. Finding a small pink backpack on the ground, I scooped it up and closed the door again, turning to hand it over to Lora. She smiled as she took it from me, turning her back to me and setting the bag on the bed. I leaned back against the door, crossing my arms over my chest as I watched her pull my shirt off her body. It was so very interesting, watching Lora as she dug through the bag naked, pulling out a pale white bra and panty set and made me shudder. The growing need to touch her twitching to life between my legs as she calmly and slowly slipped into her clothes. The dress that sat inside was a soft ivory color, with bright yellow flowers all along the skirt and sprinkled on her short sleeves. She looked beautiful. Needing to close the gap between us, I pushed off the wall and glided my hands down her arms, hugging her into me as she pulled out some comfy-looking yellow flat shoes. “You look so gorgeous.” I muttered to her, nuzzling into her neck with her soft blond hair surrounding me. She giggled and tried to shrug me off, only making me tighten my hold on her. I could feel her shake her head at me before managing to turn her body to the side and away from me. I peeked through her hair and watched as she dropped her shoes near her feet and carefully stepped into them while still in my arms. I knew I had to, but I really didn’t want to let go of her. And my mind instantly had me wondering how the hell my sister and Marcus had been able to fight this all-consuming urge to be close to each other for as long as they had. Though my sister had had a lot to deal with, what with a Curse and the loss of a past Match. She was terrified of having to go through such pain and grief again, and having anything like fear, hatred or pain already attached to your Match before the connection is realized, it muddles the draw/pull to be around them. Weakening it to some extent until the emotions either goes away or enough time is spent around each other to allow their connection to override that negative emotion. Finally dressed and ready, we joined Nyla and a very excited looking Danny who was pacing by my front door. It didn’t surprise me that now, after their wedding, they were both here ready to lend their help to Lora, just like they had promised. It also helped that Nyla and Danny were waiting for their honeymoon, which was a planned double date sort of deal with my sister and Marcus. So Nyla and Danny had another two months free to help Lora out without problem before Devin and Marcus marry. Then all four of them were set to spend two weeks on a cruise that toured the European coast. Lora and I both settled into Danny’s car after I locked up my place, everyone clearly eager to see what it was that we had to work with. I kept Lora close to me through the entire drive, pulling her legs over mine and softly kneading her thighs above her knee, wanting to soothe her or distract her. I could see how much this news was affecting her, her mind spinning with all the different possibilities now. A touch of fear and worry clung to her, as we neared the office, with both her patience and mine near breaking once we parked and stood waiting for the elevator. Once we reached the lounge, my hold on her tightened on I silently sent out s prayer to whoever would listen, wanting nothing more than to have everything go smoothly. Not just for my Lora, but for her young nephew too.
