Ch. 30 : Horrid Intentions

I wasn’t all that surprised that little Alder quickly passed out after feeding off me. What I was surprised about was that he had curled up against me, yawning as he sat on my crossed legs and leaned on me, mumbling a soft ‘thank you’ before falling into a deep sleep. My gaze moved to my now healed hand, having been pulled from my thoughts when the boy freed me from between his teeth, licked the bite to help it heal over, then moved to sit on me. All that was left on my palm now was a faint, almost shiny scar that showed where his teeth had bitten through. The pain had also left me too, all thanks to his saliva which holds strong healing properties since he was a Vampire. And I would guess that he was going to be a pretty strong Vampire too, with how fast my hand had healed. There weren’t very many Pureblooded Vamps on Earth anymore, since many Hunters got rid of them first along with a few other races. But I was willing to bet that Little Alder was close to being a Pureblood. And if he had a Match when he got older, then his future kids would more than likely become the first Purebloods to return in a very long time. I frowned as I thought of this, recalling how my sister had told me that my Lora was a Pureblood Siren. Devin, I knew, was Pureblooded herself which made her a much stronger Succubus compared to others of her same Race. And because of that my sister could pick up on that similarity with Lora, though it did take her longer than it should have for her to pick up on it. Devin guessed that it was because her Siren’s call was being suppressed temporarily. My sister had also told me that it seemed like Lora didn’t know how powerful she actually was. This made Dev wonder if maybe another of her kind was using their Pheromones or power to keep Lora from fully accessing her full power. But the only way that was possible, according to my sister and her hours of research, was if the person blocking my Lora was blood related to her. The way my sister explained it to me was that having that genetic connection would allow Lora’s relative to slither in beside the hum of Loras power, muting it without alerting Lora in any way. I was growing angry just thinking about someone so close to Lora doing that to her when the door in front of me swung open violently, striking the wall to the right of it and making Alder jolt awake. “Well now.” A voice filled with mild surprise and suppressed anger spoke, the owner of it staying just outside the light where I couldn’t see him. “Isn’t that a sweet sight.” I tightened my grip on the boy in my arms, feeling him pull himself closer to me as he gripped my shirt. “You even managed to free your wrists and ankles.” Finally, the bastard stepped closer and a new level of rage I hadn’t felt in a long time took over me as I recognized him. “Mitch, I’m guessing?” I snarled, holding Alder to my body with one arm while I used the other to get to a squatting position, moving back and away from the threat. He laughed darkly, shaking his head as a fake smile took over his face, his eyes emotional and hard. “And you learned my name too.” He stopped right on the edge of the light, looking down at me with a narcissistic air of superiority. “I wonder how much else you know?” He crossed his arms over his chest, tapping his foot a few times before suddenly chuckling once more, making me nervous with how unhinged he seemed to be. “Now I remember you… you’re that fucker that took my little songbird from me.” The glare he pinned on me was murderous, his attention solely focused on me while I backed up a little more, moving to place the boy in my arm behind me. “Tell me where she is.” He demanded, crouching down so we were both eye to eye. “Where did you take my pretty pet?” “Why?” I snapped out at him, feeling Alder's little hands balling the back of my shirt after I moved him. “Why does she matter to you?” I needed to refocus the conversation, not just to contain my own rage, but to gain something useful out of this prick. I couldn’t afford to risk Alder on the impulse to punch this fucker for how he talked about my Lora. “You and your buddies never once hesitate to kill Demons once you capture them… so why hold them hostage?” I pressed, hearing the amount of anger spilling out of me with every word. “And all of those kids?... What the f**k were you sick pricks doing with them?” He stared at me for a long while, never once moving his gaze away from my eyes as the quiet intensified more and more. When he did finally speak, he sounded so very cocky, his ego and assurance that nothing would go wrong nearly made me laugh in his face. “A Pureblooded Siren… so powerful that every other Demon Race is incapable of resisting their call.” The smile that grew as he spoke made me feel disgusted and I was so happy, in that moment, that Lora hadn’t been anywhere near the fighting where this sick f**k could see her. “Raising our own little team of Demon brats to do as we say, hypnotized by a Siren like her to follow our orders and infiltrate any and every Demon populated location in Washington…” He chuckled a little, sounding amused by the idea. “It would just make our jobs so much easier.” Humming a little, he rose to his feet before looking at me with an expression I didn’t like at all. It unsettled me and increased the feeling of disgust and rage that was still simmering inside me. “Other than that… taking a Siren like her to my bed… getting a taste of that power while she climaxes under me…” His gaze went unfocused and groaned, actually groaned as he envisioned his own words while my jaw tightened painfully. “Such a delicious rush… you should try it.” Without another word, he turned away and moved out of the room, smiling darkly at us before closing the door. His words though, stayed with me and continued to fuel my fury, urging me to find a way to knock that door down, find that fucker and beat the living hell out of him. I hated that this was what he had planned for my Lora, feeling grateful that she had escaped before he laid a finger on her in that way. Though it also made sense why he had clung to Alder so much after she got away. He needed a form of leverage over her, something that would make her more willing to submit to his demands. Of course, it also confused me as to why he had waited to play that card on Lora while she was being held captive. Maybe his boss, Marcus’ dad, didn’t want her touched or used like that until he could control her power? It did make sense that that old bastard was more focused on using Loras Siren's call for that first plan of theirs until that s**t-head Mitch somehow convinced his boss to let him do as he wanted. “Is he going to hurt Lo-Lo?” Alders voice pulled me out of the red mist of anger that surrounded me, reminding me that I was here for him and that Lora was perfectly safe, far away from here. “Hey.” I turned and moved to pull the little man onto my lap again, smiling a little when he came willingly and didn’t even flinch or show any sign of protest. “No… no. Don’t listen to that man's words, alright?” He looked up at me with a dark hint of fear in his eyes, searching me for reassurance of any kind. “I promise you, Lora is safe with my sister and friends right now, waiting for you to come back with me.” He took a moment to look into my eyes a little intensely, making me feel as if he was able to look straight into my head somehow before he nodded slowly. After he calmed down and eventually fell asleep again, I took the chance to not only assess my own physical state, but also the state of the room we were in. My ankles and wrists were still a bit tender after being bound tightly by that rope, and the back of my head ached too. A few places on my body also grew a tiny bit more sore now that more time has passed and I guessed that I had been tossed unceremoniously into the room after I was knocked unconscious. Though I couldn’t understand why I was placed in the same cell as Alder, I was grateful that I didn’t have to add finding him to my list of plans. The room itself didn’t look so well carved out like the cell that Lora had escaped from. Only two wooden beams seemed to be holding the earth in place around us from what I could see, and the door, though made of metal, didn’t appear to be as thick as I expected it to be. I continued to stare at that door as I thought about it, gently moving a sleeping Alder to the ground next to me before standing and approaching it. Careful not to make too much noise, I tapped the edges of the door that were tightly surrounded by dirt. Then I dug a finger into the soil that touched the frame of the door, freezing once I realized how loosely packed this pile of dirt was. I kept going as I moved up the side of the frame, smiling to myself as more and more dirt fell away. I nearly laughed out loud, amazed at how pathetically done this cell was made, seeing a much brighter light that spilled in from what looked like a long cavernous hallway. “Alder.” I whispered softly, slightly shaking the boy who hummed and sleepily looking up at me. “C’mon little man.” I scooped him up again, hugging him tightly as he rested his head on my shoulder. “Let’s get out of here before anyone comes back.” I was certain that it was dark out, guessing that I had been unconscious for a few hours, though I was prepared to book it with the boy in my arms if it was light out. It would obviously make it too easy for us to be spotted if the sun was up, so I was hoping that once I got outside, it was late into the night so we could be hidden in the darkness. With Alder still sleeping on my shoulder, I moved back to the small hole in the dirt that I made and continued pushing and moving the packed soil out of my way. Once the gap was big enough for me, I slipped out and quickly looked both ways, wondering which direction I should go. On a whim, I chose to go right, moving quietly and stopping at every corner before moving again, not wanting to run into any other Hunters. But after a few minutes of walking I was soon able to hear laughter and light music playing, my heart thundering in my chest when I skidded to a stop and slowly started backing away from the noise. Soon enough I was passing the cell we had just escaped from and picked up the pace now that I was heading in the opposite direction. This path was a lot more curved and stretched on for a long while. Sweat coated my body by the time I started to second guess my decision to go this way. But I soon found myself peeking out from around a corner that looked so much more promising. Two other paths could be seen across a small opening space just on the other side of the corner. One of these paths I could see led into another long hallway with lights spaced out every few feet. But the other path was only partially visible since it was further to the right of the first. I waited there, listening to anything that could pose a threat to Alder and I before I finally stepped out. I reached the second path just as a loud, beeping alarm started ringing out overhead, a few lights in the hallway flashing red lights. Alder squirmed in my arms a little as I moved, making whining sounds before he managed to tune it out, calming against my chest once again. Panic filled me for just a second before I stepped in line with the second path, a smile growing on my face when a door made of old wood appeared before me. I could see through the gaps in the wood, not only seeing bits of the trees outside but also smelling them. I backed up a bit, raising my foot and kicking out the weak door that was left dangling by the chain and padlock that had kept it closed. Stepping out into the cool night air, I chuckled and shook my head, completely amazed that I had actually succeeded in escaping these bastards so easily. I then spent the next few hours running, walking and hiking through the woods before I stepped onto the closest road to where we had been held. Then, hoping I was going in the right direction, I walked beside the road for a little while longer, talking to Alder who had woken up and was still content to stay in my arms as we chatted. Though I was certain that this kid just didn’t want to walk so much, preferring to have me carry him while he rested against me.
