Chapter Twelve This time Elsie didn't let go of Caidon's hand, not wanting him to go too far ahead of her. They paused at the other doorway, peering into the corridor before they turned towards the kitchen. There was barely enough light from the candles placed evenly along it, only some of them lit. Once in the kitchen, she reluctantly let him draw his hand away from hers and watched him rummage through cupboards in between glancing at the open trapdoor.
