From Uncertainty to Motherhood

409 Words
They weren’t particularly shocked—especially my boyfriend’s father—because Franthier and I had already been spending most of our time together. His father was rarely around, and his siblings were often out as well. However, his mother felt deeply frustrated when she found out. I understood her reaction, especially since Franthier is the eldest among the three. While his father remained calm and his siblings stayed neutral, they still approached me and suggested that I stay at their house. From that point on, Franthier and his family accompanied me to every check-up. They took care of me and made sure I was supported. When I told my own mother about my pregnancy, she accepted it quietly. She told me that perhaps my child would become the reason for me to grow, to change, and to become the best version of myself. She also reassured me that she would support me. That moment changed how I saw her—I began to truly appreciate her, as she became the mother I needed from then on. Although my mother and Franthier’s parents only spoke occasionally, there was a silent understanding between them. Franthier’s mother, despite her initial frustration, eventually chose acceptance. She knew there was nothing that could be undone, so she embraced the situation in her own way. As the days passed, I did my best to adjust and contribute to their household. I took on responsibilities—I cooked, cleaned, did the laundry, and managed daily chores. I also cared for Franthier’s grandmother. It was tiring at times, but it brought me a sense of fulfillment knowing that I was gradually earning their acceptance. After that, my mother came home to be with me and my mother would visit me often, taking care of me whenever she could. When I finally gave birth, she was there by my side, supporting me every step of the way. From that moment on, the anger I once held toward her slowly began to fade. After long months, I gave birth to a healthy baby girl named Sabrina. She was absolutely beautiful and looked so much like Franthier. She had a bright, bubbly presence that even the doctor joked about wanting to take her home. Franthier almost cried the first time he saw her. The resemblance between them was undeniable—especially in her eyes. It was a moment filled with love, emotion, and a new beginning for all of us.
