Might as well make her my wife

After wearing black sweatpants and woolen shirt, he wore his indoor slippers and walked out of the room. He wanted to check if Mrs Harper had put Seth to bed properly or if the little chap was still awake. Standing at the door, which had blue dog sticker all over it, Asher sighed and knocked gently, before opening the door. “Seth?” He called out softly as he walked closer to the bed, the little guy was still awake, sniffling softly as his red eyes landed on his father. Then his eyes darkened and he turned to face the other side of the bed. Asher lips twitched when he saw this behavior, he squatted next to the bed as she called out softly. “Seth? Why aren’t you sleeping? You know Elaine won’t like you dozing about during your classes?” “…” Seth immediately sprang up at the mention of Elaine as he stared at his father angrily. “I don’t like Elaine, she’s mean, I want mummy..she’ll let me go to school if I ask. I want to go, it’s boring at home..” “Seth, there are reasons why you can’t go to school, I want to protect you that’s why I did that..” Seth expression dropped, he knew after what happened his daddy wouldn’t let him go back but he really liked going to school. “Isn’t Daddy powerful? Then why can’t I go to school? Did Seth do anything wrong? I can’t have friends or a mummy..” Tears dropped down as he clenched his bedsheets, wasn’t his daddy rich so why couldn’t he have everything? Asher sighed as he patted the little guy’s head, he guessed it was time he gave the little guy a mother. He couldn’t keep depriving his son of that. “I’ll speak to Kate and Austin, let’s see if I can find a good school for you, daddy won’t deprive you off that..” Seth’s teary eyes lit up slightly at his father’s words, though his lips quivered as he wiped his tears with his small fists. He turned to face Asher fully, a glimmer of hope mingled with doubt in his expression. “Really, Daddy? You’ll let me go back to school?” he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. Asher nodded, his hand brushing gently through Seth’s soft hair. “I’ll find a school that’s safe for you. But you have to promise me something, Seth.” “What?” Seth asked eagerly, his tears momentarily forgotten as he scooted closer to his father. “You have to listen to your teachers and follow the rules. No running off on your own, no sneaking around, okay?” Asher’s tone was serious but warm, his piercing gaze locking with Seth’s. Seth nodded earnestly, his small hands clutching the sheets tightly. “I promise, Daddy. I’ll be good. I just want to have friends again.” Asher’s chest tightened at his son’s innocent plea. Seth had been through so much, and Asher had done everything in his power to shield him from the world’s dangers. But in doing so, he had unknowingly kept him isolated. “I’ll make it happen,” Asher said firmly, leaning in to kiss Seth’s forehead. “But you have to get some sleep now, alright?” Seth hesitated before finally nodding. “Okay, Daddy.” He sniffled again and lay back down, his small frame burrowing under the covers. Asher tucked him in carefully, smoothing the blanket over his shoulders. “Goodnight, Seth,” he said softly, standing up and heading toward the door. Just as he reached for the doorknob, Seth’s small voice stopped him. “Daddy?” “Yes?” “Will Kayla be my mummy if I’m good?” Asher froze, his hand gripping the knob tightly as his heart gave an odd lurch. He turned slightly, his expression guarded. “Seth, we’ve talked about this.” “But you said I should be good,” Seth insisted, his eyes wide with innocent determination. “I think Kayla likes Seth too.” Asher’s lips pressed into a thin line. “Go to sleep, Seth. We’ll talk about everything another time.” Seth pouted but didn’t push further, reluctantly closing his eyes. Asher slipped out of the room, quietly shutting the door behind him. Leaning against the wall in the hallway, he pinched the bridge of his nose, his thoughts a tangled mess. Seth’s words echoed in his mind. Will Kayla be my mummy if I’m good? The idea shouldn’t have affected him, yet it lingered stubbornly, refusing to be dismissed. He couldn’t deny that Seth had grown attached to Kayla in a way he hadn’t expected. But was that enough to change everything? Pushing off the wall, Asher strode down the hallway, he guessed he’ll just have to make Kayla, Seth’s mother. But how? He was sure she was going to refuse outright, so what could he use to convince her. Fishing out his phone, he dialed a number, the call quickly got through as a charming voice rang out. “Boss, you call at this most awkward of times..” This was Austin, one of Asher’s assistant in different fields. “Get a background check on that assistant of mine, down to her family, even debts….” “Kayla Henderson? How did the beauty offend Mr CEO?” “…” “I want to make her my wife, Seth has taken a liken to her, to the point of calling her mummy, might as well make her his mother..” Austin almost spilled his coffee, as Kate gave him a mean look, before continuing her work. “Elaine is going to be so bitter when she hears this, most people would think she was your wife and Seth’s mother..” “…” Asher pinched his brows and that was the issue he was having with Elaine, this also the reason why Seth didn’t like her from the get-go
