CHAPTER 1
Kate Floyd was the name given to him by his parents,when he was born.
He was an intersex,with ambiguous genitalia.he was neither male nor female.
He had both gender part.In an African community, a child like Kate would have been
considered a cursed child,a taboo.From the fear of discrimination, his parents
choose to keep his condition a secret.
Mr and Mrs Robert always wanted a baby girl. From their desperation,
they decided to bring him up as a girl,and named him Kate."let's name the
baby Kate and bring her up as a girl. "His dad said looking at him with admiration.
" But we don't know exactly who he is,he is complicated hun." His mum voiced out.
"We can't let people know his condition, what will they say about our baby!?"
His dad was defensive."that's true,people can't know about our child's conditions. "
His mum shook his head in agreement.
"It's going to be our secret hun,no one must know about this." His dad said to her
holding her hand.Mrs Robert shook her head restlessly."yes hun,our little secret
And besides ,we have always wanted a baby girl right?".She said to her husband.
he just smiled and held her hand.
After a few years,Kate was all grown up and admitted in a girl's highschool.
All students dressed in trousers ,as the school uniform which was lucky for him.
In his teenage hood,Kate realise his male hormones were stronger than his
female hormones. He was mature enough to differentiate whom he really was.
In a girl's highschool, it was much easier and clear to know whom he really was.
Kate chose to go through surgery with the help of his specialist. He always had one

With his parents busy serving in the army, Kate always did everything on his
Own.His dad was a senior Sargent, and his mum a general in the Kenyan army.
this took much of their time.They hardly spent time with him.They would
compensate with money and gifts .
As time went by,Kate became a complete young man,according to his hormones.
He could now dress,cut his hair, and behave like any teenage boy would.
But since people were used to him as a girl, they misunderstood stood him,
And took him as lesbian.
Kate didn't try to explain to anyone,he just played along.in girls highschool,
Life became complicated than he expected. With his parents busy for him,
he had to face life on his own.After all, he was a man,an African man,only he
Could understand.
According to African community, men are tough and aren't supposed to show
Any sign of weakness.Kate had no choice but to act tough. He took interest in
a girl by the name of Nixie.she like him back ,but this got everyone into thinking
they were lesbians.
Rumors started spreading around the school.one morning, students
were gathered in groups, chatting. The teacher walked in,and everyone pretended
to be busy reading.
"Good morning class!" The teacher greeted them.
"Good morning miss!" The students replied in unison.
The teacher went straight to Kate and stood in front of him.he always had the front
Seat ,by the order of his parents to the school administration.
"Kate Floyd, I heard your practising lesbianism in this school!
I'll like to warn you,its against the school rules!.you may look like a boy,
But your not. We all know you since birth!I don't want trouble with you parents!".
The teacher warned him lowering her glasses.
" But miss, I am a boy,the problem is,no one understand,and maybe non one

"I am a boy ,not a girl!".some could be heard making funny voices." that's enough!
Let's get into today's business!".The teacher proceeded.
Kate had a tough time before he could finish highschool. He got bullied and people
made fun of him,especially when he didn't want to shower with the rest.
Some would as him why he is always shy,why his chest is flat, some would
ask him if he receives his monthly period. They would call him a slow maturer,and
Throw sanitary towels at him.
Kate got used to it .to being bullied, to being called a lesbian ,until he got used to it.
His only consolation was Nixie. she was the only one who knew whom he really was.
Kate finished highschool as a boy in a girl's highschool. People thought that his affair
With Nixie would came to an end.instead, it became more stronger, especially with
Nixie's parents trying to split them up.
They tried to warn her against Kate ,but it was harder than they thought. they just couldn't
Understand, how a woman like Kate ,could make their daughter so crazy to a
Point she didn't listen to them anymore.
