Today was when the humans would leave. It felt like yesterday when Voridian made the announcement, the last time I saw him. I didn’t bother looking for him because I’d already said my goodbyes that day.
Do I still wish to see him? Of course, I do, but it’s the mate bond acting up. It was the reason why I couldn’t stop thinking about him. There’s no way I could want someone like him, not after what happened between us.
Today was also his mating ceremony with Illyana. Though I pretended not to notice, the estate was celebratory. Two days ago, Illyana approached me while I was alone, resting under a tree. I was shocked but hid it and tried to walk away. She stopped me.
“I know you’re hurting, but you can do nothing. The Alpha King is mine,” she said, her eyes gleaming with spite.
