I smiled as I stared at her beside me. It was still midnight and we were in the middle of the meadow with the sun up in the sky. I heaved a deep sigh when I thought about what was happening and the things we were about to face. It was in front of us and sooner or later, it would happen.
“What are you thinking about?” Nightfire asked.
I inhaled deeply and clenched my fists tightly. “I had a lot of things that I was thinking of and that includes the fact we are about to lose our mate,” I told him and ran a hand through my hair. “I never expected that life would turn out to be this way.
