My eyes fluttered open to the lights above me. They were not bright but light enough to squint until I fully adjusted. I groaned as I tried to raise my hands, but they felt heavy as if I was lifting weights in my dream. ‘’Oh goodness,’’ I muttered and turned to my left side, but I screamed when I saw him staring at me.
My soul almost left my body when I realized the alpha king was right by my side, staring at me without saying a word. My eyes were focused on the chandeliers above me, and I had no idea he was in the room.
