I raised my head to face Gamma Thane and clenched my fists tightly as our eyes met. All I could think of at that moment was staking his heart. He had been after me ever since my village was invaded, wanting to get rid of me. I wanted to snap back, to yell at him for trying to kill me, but I held it in and instead chuckled. “It seems the alpha king really favors me.” I shouldn’t have said that, but it slipped out because I wanted to spite him, to see his reaction and it worked, because his face quickly turned red, and I saw the veins in his neck bulge as if they were about to pop.
