Chapter 7 - The Battle Against Instructor

When Rudy arrived at the Job Class registration area, he immediately approached a burly male NPC who carried a sword on his waist. While walking to this place, Rudy has arranged the position of the sword that will be carried everywhere in the world of Axie Online.

“Excuse me, instructor, I want to take the Swordsman Class Job.”

"Swordsman? To think that there are still people who want to take that class."

"Eh? Why? Isn't it normal for us to take the Swordsman Class Job?"

“Most young people nowadays often take Mage, Enchanter, Archer, Hunter, or Job Class classes that can keep their distance with high attack damage. Even the Job Class Gunner is one of the most sought-after classes right now.”

The burly man with the sword that Rudy came over complained a little and told all his difficulties as a Bronze-Class fighter Job Class instructor who used a sword as his main weapon. Rudy couldn't do anything but listen to all his complaints.

Gunner is the only class that uses a firearm or a crossbow as its main weapon. In other words, Gunner is a very rare Special-Class. Many seek this class, but few get it.

There are many consequences of this class. Gunner is a class that prioritizes Dexterity and Luck status points. Its attack power is indeed quite weak, but its firing speed is much faster than any Job Class. With the increase in Luck (Critical) status points, each player's attack will produce critical damage. In addition, firearms and ammunition are very expensive and if they happen to fall from a monster as a drop item, it is very rare.

"Well, there's no point in thinking about that. On the contrary, I'm grateful that there are still those who want to take the very outdated Swordsman Class Job. Now, follow me!"

The man walked to the back door followed by Rudy.

In less than a minute, they arrived at a large arena-like room that was divided into five rooms bordered by a net wall—not a block of concrete or wooden wall. Rudy looked at another room that was behind the wall of the net. The four rooms contained four novice players who were facing the instructors of their respective Job Classes. Some used magic, some used arrows, some used daggers, and some used wooden clubs as weapons.

The burly man with the sword who was the Job Class instructor connected to the sword weapon started to stop in the middle of the room, causing Rudy to stop as well. The instructor drew his sword and smiled at Rudy.

“Look for the sword you want on that wall, boy. I will test you whether you are worthy of the Swordsman Class Job or not.”

Hearing this, Rudy started to look back. Behind him, there is a concrete wall. On the concrete wall were about seven swords of various shapes and sizes.

When he saw the various swords, Rudy frowned and focused his eyes on one of the available swords there.

When he saw the data of the sword, Rudy's expression looked a little surprised. Even though he was surprised, all of that was immediately covered with an expression of astonishment. A weapon with zero Damage status points, but that high Durability? Seriously.

Well, Rudy actually knew that the sword was deliberately given high Durability by the creators of the Axie Online game because the sword was used for training. Judging from the Durability alone, the sword may have an initial Durability status of 1000 points and has often been used by players who want to take the Swordsman Class Job or anything related to the sword.

He sighed as he took his sword from inside the Inventory. In an instant, a sword appeared on Rudy's back diagonally. He drew the sword and positioned himself to fight.

“Sorry, but I will use my sword.”

"Oh really? I'm quite surprised to see young people who just want to take a job class like you already have weapons. Whereas if you pass my assessment, I would like to give you a sword as your first weapon. But it doesn't seem necessary anymore."

After saying that, the Swordsman Job Class instructor could only sigh before positioning his body for battle.

On the other hand, Rudy could only freeze hearing those words. He never thought that there was a hidden gift behind taking the Job Class. Rudy looked regretful for showing off his new sword like this.

Rudy could only shake his head and try to focus on the opponent in front of him.

“You can attack me at any time, boy. if your attacks can hit me, then I will give you a necklace that can make you a swordsman."

In Axie Online, one can get a Job Class by wearing a necklace. It is referred to as the Job Class Token.

When the Job Class Token is used by a player, in a few seconds the necklace will disappear into transparent glass shards that will enter the player's body.

In Axie Online, one can change Job Class as many times as the player wants. But unfortunately changing the Job Class has a disadvantage.

The consequence of changing Job Class is that the player will lose half of the total level possessed and all basic skills that are bonuses from the Job Class will disappear.

If the level is in an odd number, then the lowered level is added one more level. For example, if Rudy is level 17 and wants to change Job Class, then his level will drop to level 9.

"Battle begin!"

When the Job Class Swordsman instructor had just finished saying those words, Rudy immediately jumped forward and swung his sword at the instructor.

With the difference in strength possessed by the two sides, unfortunately, Rudy's slashing attack was easily blocked by the instructor.

Even though Rudy knew that he didn't have equal strength, he continued to approach the instructor while swinging the blade in his hand non-stop.

The NPC Swordsman instructor could only cautiously step back while fending off the barrage of Rudy's slashes.

"But unfortunately you don't have enough attack power to defeat me!"

The NPC Swordsman instructor said confidently while assessing Rudy's moves.

“Indeed, I don't have enough strength to fight you, but the point of this judgment is that I can hit you!”

Rudy who had been attacking continuously suddenly started to slow down the tempo of his attacks, the NPC Swordsman instructor who had gotten used to Rudy's fast attacks suddenly started making mistakes. He never thought that Rudy's barrage of slashing attacks would suddenly start to slow down.

Taking advantage of the movement error, Rudy began to rotate his body rapidly then swung his hand blade at the instructor's NPC's blind spot.

Even though the instructor NPC made mistakes, his instincts had long been honed on the battlefield. So as soon as he felt a sense of crisis from his right, the instructor Swordsman started to bend his back and roll to the side to avoid Rudy's attack.
