Chapter 38 - Patrol

"Kynel, wake up."

"Ehmm? What's wrong, Rudy?"

"It's our turn to patrol."

Kynel who still looked sleepy got up from his sleeping position and came out of the tent walking towards the place where Rudy's voice was heard. While yawning, she opened her eyes looking ahead.

When he opened his eyes, Kynel could see Rudy doing pull-ups on a tree branch in front of him. His eyes widened as he was surprised by what his party leader had done.

"Rudy, what are you doing?"

"As you can see, I'm doing pull-ups."

"Then I can tell just by looking at it. But, why do it in Axie Online? Isn't that pointless in the real world?"

"Ah, this is my habit after I wake up. Even if I sleep in Axie Online, exercise is still necessary."

Getting an incomprehensible answer, Kynel shook his head while sighing softly. She did not expect that Rudy would think like that even though exercise in the virtual world would not affect the body in the real world.

Even though the body in the real world doesn't move, the brain that is the basis of all human activity and center remains moving even in the virtual world like Axie Online. Rudy also knew this and contrary to what Kynel had said earlier, he took advantage of it.

Real-world bodies and virtual world bodies are very different, but mind and spirit are the same. If Rudy works out in a virtual world, his brain thinks his body is fit and ready to move. In other words, psychological mental development.

However, according to Kynel, still sports in the virtual world cannot affect the body in the real world. When Rudy logs out later, he will definitely return to exercising to maintain his body even though his mind or mind is tired.

After finishing his pull-up, Rudy came down from the tree and did some stretching on his upper body.

"Should we go on patrol? Isn't this a safe area?"

"Not necessarily. The monster side could send spies just like we sent a reconnaissance team to spy on us."

"Is that so? But I think those monsters are stupid because they lack intelligence, especially mob monsters like Goblins or other types of beasts. There's no way they would do that."

Rudy scratched his head hearing Kynel's statement which was indeed true. He had never met a monster with high intelligence until now, except for the Dwarf NPCs he met in the Lafos cave.

"Well, there's no harm in being on guard. Previously Joelyn's party had been on patrol, now it's our turn. Be ready in five minutes."

"Okay."

Taking orders from his party leader, Kynel put on all the equipment he used to wear before. A brown cloak with a dull hood, a wand with a bright blue stone at the end, and a small silver ring on his right ring finger.

Rudy also wore equipment that he had previously taken off because it was uncomfortable to sleep in. Please note, as long as you don't log out and die, the player will not be able to exit, unless there is an error in the network or game. So, sleeping inside is not a problem.

The sleep referred to here is similar to normal sleep in general in the real world, but in Axie Online it is more emphasized to rest the mind considering that everything that happens in this virtual world is the brain that moves.

Solid Gear will only perform Emergency Log Out when the user's body is in trouble. Examples include dehydration, high blood pressure, abnormal heart rate, and so on. That's the standard Solid Gear safety mechanism announced by Axies Corporation since Solid Gear was first released five years ago.

After getting ready, Rudy and Kynel split up in two different directions. Kynel headed east and Rudy headed west. They had already discussed it before leaving that Kynel would patrol the east and north, while Rudy would go the other way.

Rudy has added Kynel to his Friendlist so that if there is anything his friend can contact him. In addition, in the east, there is a river flowing there so some players often go there to take drinking water or defecate.

For your information, urine in Axie Online will be immediately neutralized and certainly won't be harmful or pollute river water, so players can rest easy. After all, the virtual world will not affect the player's body in the real world. However, some players still feel disgusted by taking drinking water in a river that used to be urine disposal.

Being alone, Rudy changed his Ironforge Sword to Blackstar on his back. He still wanted to test how great this sword actually was considering the Goblins didn't really put up much of a fight when he fought not too long ago.

"Hmm? That... Is it a Wolf Beast?"

While walking to enjoy the beautiful night sky from the forest, Rudy found a lone wolf beast not far from where he was standing. Wolf Beasts don't flock? That's impossible, it could be a trap from a monster with high intelligence.

Wolf Beasts are mob monsters that usually live in groups just like wolves in general in the real world. It would be rare to see a wolf alone. This is what underlies Rudy's suspicions.

With that thought, Rudy immediately hid behind a tree under which there were thick bushes. He isn't someone who jumps straight at an opponent without checking the area around him first to see if the Wolf is a trap or not.

Rudy closed his eyes concentrating all attention on the sense of hearing, considering that night vision like this can't be too reliable, except for having the Night Vision skill that can see clearly in the dark.

When he closes his eyes, Rudy can hear the song of the night insects in the forest, but he finds something odd. In several places opposite from where he was currently hiding there were some small but sure heavy footsteps. Hearing this, Rudy frowned.

'This voice... Sounds like something big is coming this way. Is that a Golem?'

Muttering that in his heart, Rudy opened his eyes ending his listening session. He wants to leave this place and report to Dalon the Raid leader, but that intention is just an intention.

When he opened his eyes, Rudy was surprised by a semi-transparent white creature, faceless but visible with two eye holes and one curved lip, legless but floating, having hands but not fingers.

"Damn it, it's a Ghost!"

Immediately, Rudy jumped to the side and spontaneously came out of hiding. It's not that Rudy is afraid of this kind of astral mob monster, he's just a reflex to keep his distance in battle.

Rudy immediately reached for the Blackstar Sword hanging on his back, but before he could pull out his weapon he heard a loud sound.

"Howl!!!"

It was the howling sound of the Wolf Beast earlier, one of its skills called Howling. This skill is just a loud howl but can summon other wolf beasts that are in different places.

Rudy was surprised when he realized he had been discovered by the Wolf Beast. He who came out of hiding reflexively didn't realize that the Wolf Beast's gaze had turned to him a few seconds ago. Worse yet, the Wolf Beast managed to activate the Howling skill to summon his flock.

While focusing on the Wolf Beast, Rudy didn't notice that the Ghost in front of him spat out something like a ball and landed right on his chest. This made Rudy very surprised and knocked back a few steps back.

“s**t… I really have no luck!”

Getting into an unexpected situation, Rudy's expression looked annoyed and surprised at the same time. Rudy immediately pulled Blackstar from his back and put him in a fighting position because he most likely wouldn't be able to escape from this situation.
