The Predating World

"Uh-uh…" the young servant stammered, he felt like he was accused for having a connection with the demons.

"My mother slept on me and she was killed, the demons didn't notice me, they thought everyone was dead" he said and sighed

With the corner of his eyes, Liam looked at the servant suspiciously as he moved away from him.

Without a pause in his steps, he quickly walked up to his father; His Majesty Guan, King of Kinland, the father of Liam's present self.

Of course his real father on real earth should be home weeping for the loss of his son

"Is there a way I can get home or am I stuck to the predating world?" Liam thought to himself, when he thought about how happy it would be if he ever got back home, hus heart took a leap.

His Majesty Guan was one of the most famous in the Empire, news that the Royal Family and the prime minister's family are going to be joined by marriage already spread across the empire. In fact, people from other kingdoms have started to bring gifts and presents to the palace

To think that that topic, ad hot as it was, such an event will come to an end quickly just as it rose.

Not many people were happy because of that news, some weak kingdoms in the empire who are looking forward to form an alliance through marriage with the famous Kinland Kingdom have their wish shattered when that news got to them, there are also some arrogant kingdoms who are one of the Top kingdoms in the empire, wanting to get stronger through marriage alliance, they are uoset too.

Who knew, any one if the angry birds might have cause this calamity upon the prime minister's family.

Presently, his majesty's face was extremely ugly, heavy fatigue and worriy were visible in his face.

"Tell lord Zach everything that happened yesterday in details " he says, moving away to make soace for an approaching bearded man.

In his mind, Liam kept replaying what he heard from the prime minister's sons yesterday. He believed that the demons case must be related to the prime minister's family's death so he started to recall everything that happened back in the day, he didn't hide anything as he poured everything to Lord Zach's hearing

Lord Zach furrowed his bries as he listened to the information, though he listened carefully, he didn't see any major clue between the events, he saw no connection.

Or to be more precise, he didn't want to believe that the demons exist in the fist place.

Seeing that there were no more questions for him, Liam walked away.

Before leaving, he saw the palace servant clearing the corpses cleaning the manor.

He looked at the process with his eyes sidelines while walking, when he saw the eldest brother lifted up, he walked up to a palace minister whom he guessed should be closer to the prime minister. The minister's eyes were swollen, red and tearful, the minisiis trying not to weap sinci they are still in public; it will be wrong for a palace minister to weep in the presence of commoners.

Liam thought that if there were any survivor from the prime minister's family, he would take care of him and maybe get more information from him.

But now, they were all gone.

Maybe…

"Is there any family of the prime minister somewhere else?" Luam asked

"Nope, they are all gone. Even the extended relatives weren't spared, they were all implicated. Perhaps, they still have some distant relations in Starland kingdom" The minister shook his head and covered his eyes with his ckiak and he ckeaned his tests with them.

He put a smile on his face to cover up the fact that he just dropped tears

"It's alright, it's alright" the minister calmed himself.

Luam was somehow touched, somehiw, water were tearing up in his eyes, Liam quickly blink his eyes and walked away.

The last thing he needed here was someone to make him cry.

Taking Sara with him, he entered into a horse carriage which took him home.

However, the prime minister's family situaywas still a dortiw in everyone's mind.

As the head of his family and the King of Kinland, His Majesty Guan assembled everyone, all paka e ministers, prominent people in the royal family, the princes and some people he felt should be present.

He announced that tge engagement with the prime minister's family is void from now on, he ordered some women to console Irene, the lady who was engaged to the prime minister's eldest son.

His Majesty went to his rest room, he had had to much happenings today and what he needed now is rest.

One by one, every one in the court room dispersed.

Be it to the winery or a brothel or similar establishment in the kingdom, that is their normal way of taking sadness and pains if such traumatic event off theur mind.

As for the women, they went to the temple to pray for peace and protection.

Ideally, they would come back with a protection talisman which they believed will protect their family from external eviks throughout the night. They made sure they pray in the temple everyday.

Every lady prayed seriously with heavy expression and fear on their face.

Reason: ontheur way to the temple, during their conversation, one of them said that none of the prime minister's wives prayed in the temple yesterday. When they all thought about it, they all knew that it was true. The truth put more fear in their mind as they focused on praying more than ever thinking the prime minister's family died because his wives didn't pray for the family's protection and took talismans home.

The entire royal family and those living in the palace, and all the palace ministers, they were in fear.

But Liam did not go out, he had enough of osmanthus brew the previous day. Instead, he went to the palace library, were all the books about the Kingdom are kept.

The library were in absolute silent, he opened the library doors to see a plump woman cleaning the shelves

The mahogany shelves and furniture as well as the faint light streaming in from the window gave the place an eerie atmosphere.

Liam went past the wooden partition blocking the entrance which featured a circular painting of flower and bird, sniffing the faint fragrance of the wood in the library.

"Yiu can take your leave, I prefer to read alone. I'll call you if I need anything" Liam ordered Sara.

"Yes, your Highness " Sara replied obediently aykeft quietly with the plump cleaning woman.

Standing aline before the library and staring at the tons of books before him, lian sighed.

He just got into this world, he never knows what everyone is keeping from him, he only had a little memory of thus world and onky through books can he get a little information.

Anyway, he began ti search the books in the library.

Very quickly, he found done sort of local prefectural record books, taking all this books out of the shelves, he started to flip through them.

Using the faint light streaming from the window, he was browsing the books from cover to cover.

"In the one hundredth and twenty fifth year of the United Kingdom of Westworld, a mysterious man appeared in Starland kingdom and kill eighty soldiers by himself. The knigdim sent five if his best warriors to take him down but he kikked then singlehandedly. The emperor have ti send an army led by one of his princes to send the mysterious Jan out of the empire"

"In the one hundredth and fifty year of the Empire, a family was massacred, tgeur head was seoerated from their body, cause of death was unknown till date".

"In the one hundredth and eighty-sixrh year of the Empire, the Nine lakes river suddenly turn into blood fir a month and also was poisonous for three months after the blood went away. Who ever drank from the water won't die from poison but rather from dislocation of body joints and breaking of body bones"

"In the one hundredth and eighty-sixrh year of the Empire, just after the blood and poisonous river, a wail was heard across Centraland, every night, this wail cried fir three months and keot people from sleeping, those who tried to get some sleep never woke up again"

"In the two hundredth year of the Empire, the crown princess of each kingdom in the Empire mysteriously disappeared and were never found again. Few years later, a mysterious man appeared and wanted to take over the position of the emperor. The man was undefeatable but through the helis of the gods, he was banished from the Empire "

Many more mysterious incidents followed the last one and there were many more before the first one which Liam didn't bother reading. It was at this point that he jbew what kind of world he his in.

Lian opened more leaves of the book and jeot reading, he found mire mysterious cases like the ones he'd read. He sighed and closed the book he is currently reading and took another.

Having reading to this stage, he is quite sure that this world he is in contains supernaturals; the existence of mysterious humans and evil monsters.

The other book that he took to read consist of common records and mortal crime acts of the empire, reading more books, he understood how the empire and the kingdoms under it works, the battle record of the empire and quarrels between the kingdoms.

The sun deemed down a bit and the light that steamed in from the window was greatly reduced, the light in the library was too deem for him to read so he lit a torch in the library.

The yellow light from the torch casted shadow on his face, making him look gruesome.

Luam read until he is tired, he closed the book and returned all the books to where they were.

"if this world is as dangerous as this, then what can I do to be safe?" Liam thought

Fear was written all over his face, he surely isn't a fan of supernatural things.

Most of the cases he read in the history of United Kingdom of Westworld, non of them is natural.

He turned off the light and went out of the library.

Sara on the other side of the door have been standing for hours, awaiting Liam's return. On hearing the library door open, she heaved a sigh of relief and said "Young Prince, you are done reading"

Luam uttered some words but due to keeping silent for a long time, his voice was inaudible. He cleared his throat and said "is Lord Zach available at the moment?"

"Lord Zach should be in the temple, he should be offering incense to the gods for the death of the prime minister's family, I don't know when he will be free" Sara was friend with many servants in the palace so she is well informed about few more things.

"Let's go to the temple then, I'll ask fir his attention" Liam said as she set out to the temple and Sara followed behind.

On their way, they met some royal members and few emissaries that cane from other kingdoms to give theur condolences to His Majesty, everyone that they met has a bitter face and fear lingers around them. Everyone is looking around suspiciously as if whatever is it that ended the prime minister"s family is after then. The palace women held on to the talisman they got from the temple.

Seeing the palace women coming back from the temple with talisman in their hands, Liam guessed that rhe priest should be free since he had the time to give talisman to the women who went to pray.

Liam looked at the emissaries, even them had fear in their face. Not only fear, they had this intent to get out of Kinland as fast as possible as if Kinland is being hunted by a ghost.

Liam saw some people who somehow were familiar to him, he guessed they must be the relative of the real owner of this body

"His Highness Sean is back, he went to a Winery earlier to calm his nerves" Sara whispered.

"Is he the crown prince?" Liam asked casually

Sara looked at Liam, looking puzzled. She does not understand why her master sudden seem to forget too many common things.

"The king is yet to choose a crown prince but most people think of him as the crown prince since he is Young Prince's first brother" Sara answered.

Liam have watched some Chinese movies in the real world where princes compete for the position of a crown prince, maybe that is what His Majesty wanted to do too

"Are we princes competing for the position?" Liam asked.

"That is what the king wanted but the palace ministers negated him, they said it will cause rivalry between the princes especially when they have different mothers" Sara replied

Liam gave her a puzzling look and said"you are well informed! His come you get your hands on so much information that even I don't know?"

"Actually, I have many servant friends and we talk together whenever we are free but most of the information are the ones that you told me, his come you don't remember?" Sara questioned in a caring way, she is Liam's handmaid afterall, if anything happens to him, she will asked for it.

"U..uh..uh"

Liam who knew the reason but could not tell the girl was stammering.

"It's ok if yiu don't remember, yiu just healed from your sickness, everyone thought you will die but thanks to the gods" Sara replied

Liam caught a clue on what Sara said. The owner of this body almost died, he also fied and the next moment, he was reincarnated into this body.

Liam wondered if the owner of thus body was reincarnated into his own real body or was dead

Trekking few more distance, Liam got to the temple. On entering the temple, he saw the monks, they were all in white clothes, sitting on their legs begire a statue. Liam entered into the temple and stood by the doorpost, he scanned his surrounding and saw Lord Zach sitting before the statue, Lord Zach was reading some words out of a book in his hand and the monks behind him were replying him. All of them were speaking in an unknown language.

Liam who didn't understand any of the thing happening here stood by the door, waiting patiently for Lord Zach to finish whatever he is doing. Liam scanned the temple, there were images of different mythical beings on the wall; some had a dangerous aura on them while sine have a peaceful aura. Even though those mythical beings are just images, luan clearly felt the aura.

The most amazing part was when smoke suddenly blew out of the mouth of the statue that the monks are worshipping.

On seeing the smoke, all the monks and the priest bowed down to the statue.

Liam switched his gaze to the statue with a puzzled face, the eyes of the statue was glowing in a golden radiance, the golden radiance shed light across the temple and everyone in the temple, including Sara bowed down, not daring to look at the statue.

Only Liam, who happens to not know what the the golden radiance or the statue means was standing, the golden light from the eyes of the statue was casted upon him but luam felt nothing except for that the light was too bright for his eyes so he had to shut then. Before his eyelid truly met eachother, Liam saw something on the chest of the statue. Thus mark looked kije the same mark that was drawn on his own chest the previous by the necklace.

Liam opened his eyes instantly but by then, both the golden radiance and the mark were gone, the statue also returned to normal.

Liam was puzzled, he didn't know whether the mark he saw on the statue was the same as the one the statue drew on him the previous day. He couldn't draw a conclusion since he didn't see the mark very well.

He looked at the images of the mythical beings on the walls again and looked at the priest.

"If something like this can happen on the temple, how come most people in thus world don't believe that supernaturals exist in their world. Or maybe they knew but they do not want to accept the cold truth" Liam thought.

"Don't worry, Lord Zach is now done with all rituals for today, since the Holy Radiance have casted" the tiny feminine voice of Sara assured Liam.

"Holy Radiance?" Liam asked

"Of course you've never been to the temple before, there's no way you can kniw about the Holy Radiance. The Holy Radiance is the only way by which the gods can communicate with the priest and the monk, they believed that one the Holy Radiance radiated, it means the gods have answered their prayers for today and they should not pray again till the day ends. It is also the sigh that marked the priest's rest" Sara explained

Liam have heard about the gods when he was on the real earth but he never believed in their existence, most people in the real world never believed gods existed. Except for some people who believed there is someone that came to the world and died for their sins, that is the most popular god in the real world and even those people never performed wonders like this. In fact, they do not worship statues.

"Does gods truly exist?" Liam wondered. "if not, then what is this things?"

Lord Zach, the palace priest, messsnger of the gods and best martial arts master in the palace already saw Liam at the door post the moment he finished praying.

The fact that he is a priest doest not stop him from learning martial arts. In fact all the priests and the monks learn martial arts with their religious arts. It is in theur beliefs that demons are great martial arts masters so in order to fight them, they must be stringiin martial arts and in spirit. A monk's physical and spirit energy will be tested before they can be nominated to fight fir priesthood. It is the hope of all the monks learning under Lord Zach that they should be hired by a rich or royal family or my one of the ministers. All of them made sure they perform their responsibilities well, not so that they can be hired but so that they can get on the good side of Lord Zach. It is those nominated by Lord Zach that will be hired by any family.

Lord Zach whispered sone words into the ear of one of the monks and walked up to Liam at the door post.

"Young Prince I'm sorry for keeping you waiting, most people cannot see me thus days since I'm very busy praying for protection with the citizens. Thanks to the gods, the Holy Radiance came earlier today. What have brought you to the temple! Please be quick, I cannot really trust those apprentice monks to train on their own "

Lord Zach had the immunity against the orders of all the prince in the palace. In fact, he can decide whether he wanted to see them or not. Only His Majesty had the order over the priest.

But Lord Zach is very considerate, with the recent event in the kingdom, he knew even the unexpected people will come to visit him so seeing Liam didn't really suprise him as much. Anyway, he will not addresse Liam as his highness, rather he called him young prince which is what only people that are very close to him called him.

Liam did not care though. As long as he can get the attention of Lord Zach, that was okay for him.

He looked at Lord Zach's uncalm face, Lord Zach seem to be in a hurry to continue training his monks. Training the monks is really essential after the prime minister's tragedy. Many family who are rich enough tk afford a priest but does not want to get one because they do not have a reason to, after the recent event, many if them will start ti demand for priests from the temple.

"Lord Zach, I want to learn martial arts and priest arts" Liam said.
