Olive's daughters wouldn't touch the pie. Eileen, the eldest, had recently decided that she was going to save every animal on the planet and wouldn't touch the meat inside. Barbara, however, would eat anything you put in front of her, except pastry. Godfrey had a delicate stomach and was prone to constipation if his mother fed him anything too heavy, and Olive herself was desperately trying to keep her svelte figure intact. No matter how tempting the pie looked, and smelled, she just couldn't risk it, family genetics dictated that one slice would result in an inch of excess fat around her waist. No, Olive had to resist.
