Episode five: she belongs to me

Aria's pov Exhausted, I pushed my heavy eyelids open and stretched my body. I gradually became aware that I was resting in a luxurious, king-sized bed. My memories were fuzzy and my head was thumping. My eyes fell on my clothes spread out on the floor as I slowly got out of bed and looked around the room. As my gaze swept over my body, I became acutely aware of how nude I was. Hastily, I covered myself with the blanket. The memories of the previous evening suddenly returned. I slurped to the ground while clutching my head. I repeatedly mumbled, "Geez, I am such a fool," as I struck my head. When I noticed a small note on the table, I scoffed aloud and stepped closer to read it. "I am being mistaken for a slut now. I muttered to myself, "What a fool," as I gathered the cash on the table and changed into the clothes he had set next to the note. I muttered as I looked in the mirror, "At least he is smart enough to get me something to change into." "This appears to be pretty costly," I told myself, praising my stunning appearance in the attire. The door flew open. I turned to speak, but as I looked at the people in front of me, my words hung in my throat. The head guard commanded, "Take her away." I looked at the faces of the guards, hoping to see something, and then my gaze landed on Lydia's. I joyfully called out, "Lydia," as I fought to break free of the guards' grip. “What’s happening?” As she looked away from me, I quickly asked. The royal guards took me to the hall where my sentence was being decided after dragging me out of the motel. I was pulled into the grand hall, where I saw the council members seated around a long, elaborate table. Alpha Rowland occupied the middle seat, while his sulky fiancée Amelia sat beside him, staring at me with a mix of annoyance and disappointment. Despite my efforts to resist, the guards restrained me by securing me with handcuffs. "You are the one who killed the alpha regent and took the pack's important decision document, which you then sold to an invader?" Alpha Rowland sounded contemptuous as he asked. As the charges were presented to me, my eyes grew wide. “Stole the document from the pack?” I inquired once more to make sure I was not hearing anything. "What are you talking about?" I cried, my voice trembling with outrage as I found it difficult to understand the seriousness of the charges made against me. In a desperate attempt to clear my name, I continued, "I did not steal any documents, and I certainly did not sell them to any invaders." "What else would you anticipate from a murderer such as herself?" With a disgusted look on her face, Amelia asked Rowland. "And as I previously stated, I did not murder the Alpha Regent!" I protested by screaming as loudly as I could while looking around the room for any indication of understanding or support. They should not testify against me for something I did not do, even though I know that no one in the pack liked me. However, all I saw when I looked around were hostile faces and accusatory looks. I could feel the council members' resentment and anger toward me, as if they had already decided that I was guilty. "What did I do that was wrong?" I could not help asking. When I realized that I was up against an apparently insurmountable task, a wave of desperation swept over me. I thought to myself, "I know persuading the council members is kind of an impossible mission with all evidence pointing at me." My gaze fell on Alpha Rowland, who appeared unhappy. "What is your plan for pleading?" At last, Alpha Roeland asked coolly, his gaze meeting mine. Knowing that I needed to think strategically and clearly if I wanted to have any chance of clearing my name, I took a deep breath and tried to gather myself. With a firm and determined voice, I declared, "I demand to know who is behind these false accusations." "What???" With their gazes focused on me, the council members joined in a chorus. "I would like to see the evidence you have against me and know what it is." I maintained an unwavering gaze as I met Alpha Rowland's. I firmly stood up and declared, "I am innocent, and I will not go down without a fight." Alpha Rowland scowled as he said, "I hope you will be able to stand strong once the witness comes forward." Alpha Rowland commanded, "Let the witness come forward," as the hall went quiet. When I saw the person stumbling in the witness stand, my mouth dropped open and my heart began to race. I sobbed as I called out, "Lydia," but she averted her eyes. She displayed a number of documents and spoke incoherently, which I did not understand. "How could she be so dishonest with me?" With tears running down my cheeks, I asked no one. The day of my execution was a day of debate among the council members. When Alpha Rowland declared, "She shall be beheaded immediately," the court erupted in jubilation. "What did I do that was wrong?" I dropped to my knees without asking anyone. An authoritative male voice reverberated throughout the hall's four walls, saying, "Touch a strand of my woman's hair and I will have this whole pack burn down to ashes." Even though my life was slowly evaporating, I made an effort to look at the man who had come to save me. Prior to nature taking over, I heard the name that people were afraid to utter. “The Lycan King”.
