Ashina felt a pang in her chest as she wondered why he was asking again. “Ashina, did you lie to me about your monthly flow?” George asked again and this time, she shook her head vigorously. It seemed like his voice had a force that was pulling her to nod but she defied it. “Hmm… again, you dare me. You forget you have other ladies who bathe with you and stay with you and should know when your period comes. Well, one gave you away. Since when do women see their periods every week?” Ashina began to shake with trepidation. She knew who must have given her away, it was Coral. She felt a pain clutch her heart as all she could think about was what he could do to her since they were alone. Ashina parted her lips to speak but no words could come out of them. “You played the fast one on me, didn't you?” George asked, stepping closer to her and Ashina tried to run backwards but he gripped her arm before she could make it away. “You lied to an Alpha who gave you a place to stay because you don't know the favour I granted you.” His voice was becoming increasingly husky and his breathing was heavy. He was furious. “I could not stand being embarrassed further,” she mumbled, trying to make defences for herself. “Hmm, I see. Was that you just admitting that you truly played a fast one with me. Just like I am hoping that you would admit that you went out of the palace last night and sneaked back in. Who did you go to see? A secret lover?” Ashina's mind wandered to her activities of the night before as George ran his hands over her body, touching her provocatively with an irritating fierceness. Ashina could not stop drowning her thoughts in the memories of her time with the stranger. It helped her to ignore the pains of being under George as he gave in to his forceful advances. Today was not that day to win and she knew it. Finally, George had his way with her after her fights and resistance of the past weeks. She was numbered amongst his s*x slaves. Ashina felt tears rushing down her cheeks as he did to her body the things he had threatened her that he would do. *** Ashina was subjected to even more humiliation in the weeks that followed as George treated her with absolute disdain. She got her free weeks and dreaded returning to the Palace when it was over. Anytime she failed to return, she would be bundled by his guards, led by Kent and taken back to him and he would use her as he pleased. A part of her wanted to fight him so badly but another part was prompted to accept her fate as it could eventually lead to him seeing her and accepting her as his mate. She began to loosen up and set herself free from the burden of always rejecting him and making it difficult for him to have access to her. The council of elders of the Wind Winder pack had sent a note to George, informing him of his proposed coronation and how he was expected to choose his Luna before the day. “I have not found one!” George grunted at Council Secretary who had delivered the letter. “I cannot be cajoled into marrying the wrong Bride.” “Why not pick any of your s*x slaves then? The news the council has is that you have a ton of them. Why aren't any of them good for you?” George cast a furious gaze at him and looked away with disgust. Ashina was standing by the door of the throne room, eavesdropping on their conversation. She wanted to know where she stood in the pack, in his life. “We hear a rumour about the one called Ashina. You had the mate bond with herz why could you not make her your Luna?” “Ashina? Ashina is simply a play thing for me. I find her attractive, yes, but I could never make her my Luna. By the way, I rejected her already. Even if I had to consider any of those filthy ladies,Coral would be closer than Ashina.” The detestful way he spoke about her, caused Ashina to feel a pain crawl up in her chest. She felt heavily agitated and the agitation prompted a rumbling in her stomach and suddenly, she felt sweaty and felt all that she had eaten threatening to come out of her mouth. Before Ashina could run down the corridors, she began throwing up and it was noisy and splashed all over the place. George heard the sound of it and ran out to meet her in the corridor. Without being told,he knew that she had probably heard all that he said to the Council Secretary and he did not care but his concern was that she was making a mess of his corridors. “Couldn't you have taken yourself away from that corridor?” George asked with anger evident in his voice. “Who is going to clean up this mess now?” “I will,” Ashina replied, wiping her lips and walking out to get a rag and a bucket of water. Her heart was heavy and she could not help but think about how much of her body she had given to that man in expectation of a place in his life and he said all that trash about her. She felt like she belonged to the lowest class of the pack and she felt a crawling feeling of shame on her skin. She wanted to go off on him and ask him questions about all that he had said about her. She tried to keep her thoughts to herself however, the words flew right out of her mouth before she could stop them. “Since you cannot have me and I am not befitting for your throne as your Luna, despite being the one chosen for you by the moon goddess, why not let me go?” She asked, her voice shaking and tears gathering in her eyes. George was silent for a while and the next thing, he began to laugh hysterically, so loudly that she felt he was mocking her. “Wait a minute, you thought I would change my mind about you? Oh, poor thing. I can never be with you, I already rejected you, Ashina.” Ashina's eyes glistened with tears as his daunting words pierced her heart. “So, why can't you let me go? I cannot be here forever. Can I go back home to my house and live like all these weeks never happened? I cannot be your slave! I hate to be like that.” “What home did you just mention?” George asked with a sarcastic tone, “the same home that we permitted you to stay in? You don't have a home here, Ashina. You never did and you never will. It is either you remain here or you find your way out of my pack. If you choose the latter, good riddance. Also, do well to wipe that mess properly, it stinks.” With that, he walked out on her without looking back. Ashina felt a gust of shame and rejection washed through her. She wanted to break down and sob so loudly. She had barely finished wiping the vomit when she felt her stomach rumbling again. This time, realisation dawned on Ashina. She knew that she was not throwing up because she was agitated, she was pregnant! A feeling of panic gripped her heart as she walked out of the corridors with the bucket and the piece of cloth, into her bedroom. She shut her door with a loud bang and threw the stinking water away before collapsing into her mattress. She had test strips and she took them and tested herself to confirm the authenticity of her thoughts. The strips showed that she was truly pregnant. “Damn! I knew it!” Ashina cursed, letting her tears flow down her cheeks. “Where am I gonna start from now,?” She whispered to herself.”If I had to escape from George, how would I do so with this state? How will I survive?” The scary thoughts that rushed through her mind were not as chaotic as the sudden loud howls coming from the top of the Palace and the thudding sound like two people were fighting. Ashina wondered what was going on as she stood up and rushed out of her room, unwilling to be caught unawares Incase there was trouble.
