Chapter 54: 2000 Rotations Per Minute

1035 Words
Richard punched Jacky in the chest, and much to his surprise, he stumbled backward and fell into the wall. Stepping forward, Richard maintained his upper hand by punching Jacky again and again until he collapsed on the ground at his feet. Jacky did not know what had happened, and the only explanation he could think of was that Richard was also a mutant. He looked at his opponent, and for the first time, he was afraid. He thought – If I do not think of some way to turn this fight around, I may have to flee…      "You son of a b***h,” Richard roared. “I am not a person you should want to mess around with. Damn fool! Bring it on, boy. Come on. Let me see what you’ve got!" When Billy saw Jacky and Richard fighting, he was inspired to start a fight, so he approached Leon. Leon seemed like a typical middle-classman, weak and defenseless. Billy thought – Even if Leon is carrying a gun, I will knock him down and quickly run away from him. Once I defeat him, other people will be afraid of me! Leon had gone back to holding Nicole, and he was crying. When Billy saw him, he sneered. “Don’t be such a baby,” he said. “I’m just as upset as you are. After all, I was going to f**k her next, but you don’t see me going on about it!” Leon ground his teeth together, and as he stood up, he said “I will kill you for what you just said.” Billy: “Temper, temper!” Leon still had the knife that Nicole had used to kill herself. He swung it across Billy’s chest, but Billy dodged the knife and kicked him in the stomach. Leon staggered and fell on his ass, and his knife slipped out of his hand.   Billy spit in Leon’s face and said, “A young man like you… with so much life to live… beg for my mercy and I will let you live.” While Billy waited to see what Leon’s answer would be, one of his mates passed him the door to a washing machine. It was about three or four centimeters thick. It could easily be used to crack Leon’s skull. He tested its weight and thought – perfect! Billy: “Boy, I will give you one last chance. Beg me to you live, or I will smash you to death with this.” Leon sighed and he began to crawl on all fours, and when he reached Billy, he sunk his teeth into the man’s leg and tore a fleshy chunk out of his thigh.   Almost immediately, Billy began to howl. “You are a f*****g son of a b***h!” he shrieked. “You bit me. I am gonna kill you!” He had not expected Leon to be so fierce. “You are going to pay for this!” He promised as he lifted the machine’s lid to smash into the back of Leon’s head. He lifted it above his head, and he brought it down hard, but Leon paid it no mind.   Leon had lost his mind. He kept pulling Billy apart with his teeth. Billy tried to pull his leg away, but it was of no use. Then, as a last-ditch effort, he grabbed his leg with both hands and gave it a hard tug. It was at that moment that Leon let go, and the momentum sent him reeling into the washing machine. Billy was impaled by the machine’s pointy end. He fell forward, and his head ended up in the washing machine. Leon laughed and turned the machine on. “No!” Billy shrieked. “Stop! Not my face!”     Billy continued to scream, and he grabbed at Leon, but to no avail. The severe friction inside the machine began to do its work. Billy couldn’t see anything, but he could feel his skin being pulled away from his face, and the blood oozing off his forehead.         The high-tech washing machine had once had a “human-protective device,” but Billy had destroyed the circuit protection device when he’d kicked it. So, despite his struggle, the machine began to rotate faster and faster. The speed could be seen on the LED screen, and Richard chuckled when it reached 2000 rotations per minute.   Leon held Billy’s head down and let the friction torture Billy, and before long, the water began to froth. Hair, skin, blood, bone, and flesh rose to the surface like some foul soup. It smelled like a butcher’s shop crossed with a laundromat. The place was hot and humid, and it reeked of death.   All around the room, people were vomiting. Death by Washing Machine – it was a terrible way to go. Billy had not made a sound for over a minute and his body had stopped moving. There was nobody there that thought he would come out of this alive.     Finally, someone pushed Leon aside and pulled Billy out of the froth – and much to their surprise, he had some life left in him after all. He turned to Jacky and said, “Avenge me, uncle.” Everyone gasped. The flesh had been torn from Billy’s face. His eyes had been plucked from its socket. His nose, chin, and ears; all gone. He resembled a Hollywood monster. Jacky shrieked and turned away. Looking at his nephew this way, he couldn’t help but think about the boy’s mother, how she looked naked, and the things they had said and done to each other. He remembered how they had made love and that she had promised to carry his child. This must be that child! – he realized. Jacky wanted to cry over the boy, but he knew that the timing was not right. Instead, he lifted his hand to strike Leon. He wanted to avenge his son. Unfortunately, like the time before, Richard stopped him.  “Do not waste you time grieving,” Richard said. “You will be with the boy momentarily.” He pulled out his gun and pressed it to Jacky’s forehead. “The only reason I haven’t killed you yet is that you are different. By that, I mean… We are the same. You see, when the meteor came, we were both changed. Something inside our body was activated. It is not a bad thing, though. It made us stronger. This is why you are not afraid of the mutant creatures, and why you can do whatever you want to the people around you. You can even rape whoever you like. But this is life, and Karma is real. When you take something that doesn’t belong to you, you will lose someone you love…
