Chapter 26 - Powerful Enemy

976 Words
Under the luxurious crystal chandelier, two naked bodies were entwined in one another, despite the bloody smell. The whole house shook with the rhythm of their lovemaking.    “Don’t stop, baby, come on…”   Groaning, Mary’s white thighs gripped Richard’s torso, her arms wrapped around his neck. Her snow-white breasts were dazzling under the light. Richard breathed heavily, sweat trickling down his back. He wanted to bury his face in those beautiful breasts as he felt her body shake with his powerful thrusts.   “Oh, I’m not stopping…” He groaned.   Richard guessed that Mary was really scared by what happened today and was trying to overwhelm her fear through passionate s*x.   “Hold me tight, don’t let go.”    Mary’s passion continued for a while longer until she couldn’t bear it any longer. When they stopped, she found herself uttering what was really on her mind, “You killed someone. You killed him!”   Mary held Richard tight and sobbed. Seeing him kill the policeman, then take the three women hostage, she would need time to digest it all. It was all too much to think about.   “Sweetheart, there’s something that I cannot tell you right now. I don’t want you to worry about me. But I promise no one will hurt you or our baby.”   Richard took her into the bedroom, put her down softly on the bed, and covered her with a white blanket.    While sympathetic, he couldn’t help thinking that there was only one day left before the doomsday. This would bring crueler and far more bloody events than what had occurred that day. His wife would have to accept the new reality soon.   “You killed someone, you killed someone…”   Mary repeated this again and again, picturing the knife slitting the man’s throat open. He was a living human, not just some farm animal! Since when had her husband become so cruel?   “If I hadn’t killed him, I would be dead. Listen, you need to get a good rest; our boy needs you to feed him.”   Richard comforted Mary patiently. He knew very well that before long, this seemingly weak woman would be cutting the heads off mutant creatures with her own hands. She would become even crazier than him to protect Steven.     “Dear, how about the women in the basement? If somebody hears their cries for help…”   Mary looked downstairs but could hear no sound. She had no idea what Richard had done to them. All she knew was that after Richard went down there, she hadn’t heard another sound.   “Don’t worry dear, the sound insulation down there is perfect. Even if they shout as loud as they can, no one will hear them. And when our old university mates come tomorrow I will…”   Suddenly Richard heard something. He stood up, walked boldly to the door, and opened it.   “Who are you?!”   Seeing the man at the door, Richard’s body became taut.    A man roughly his age stood there, straight as an arrow. He was tall and slim, with lightly tanned skin. From the way, he carried himself it was clear he had plenty of fighting experience. It was the first time Richard had met someone like himself; he was somewhat nervous.      “I am the Monkey, John Smith is my boss.”   The Monkey looked Richard up and down. He kept a solid poker face but felt his body automatically readying itself for a potential situation.    “I was right. Only someone who has killed a lot could give me this feeling. A young man like yourself is similar to a wolf; it can bite at any moment, but there are more dangerous animals out there. In the army, I was the top-performing solider in our troop, number one for every exercise. The other soldiers used to call me the Lion. A wolf wouldn’t stand a chance against a lion.”   “It’s just been a few days, why did John ask you to follow me?”   Richard could feel the evil that existed inside the man before him. Compared to the Monkey, the cops were like a couple of harmless kids.    He was obviously trying to put pressure on Richard; to scare him. Like the cop earlier that day, Richard tapped the police gun at his waist to assure himself it was still there.    “It’s not about the money. You don’t have to be nervous.” The Monkey held his hands up in a calming gesture. “I’m here to get one thing clear. You borrowed 5 million from John and so far, you have spent that money in wasteful, extravagant ways. Plus, you killed those cops and took their guns… You need to tell me why.”    “What do you mean? Why do you care what I’m doing?”   Richard tried to sound as casual as possible.    As a loan shark, John was professional, Richard knew that. He thought that John had believed the initial lie he told, but then John had asked the Monkey to investigate him. So, had he not trusted Richard from the beginning? Also, as a secret investigator, the Monkey had no reason to show himself. So why was he here now? Was it just out of curiosity or was he worried he wouldn’t get back the 5 million since Richard killed the cops?   “If you have secrets, it’s best to tell me whatever you can. I suggest you do tell me everything though, because if there’s anything you are unwilling to reveal… well let’s just say I have my own special methods for making people talk.”   Noting Richard’s fighting stance, the Monkey nodded. Richard moved forward until the distance between them was around 5 meters. This was the best shooting range for the gun at his waist and gave him enough time to react if needed. However, the Monkey was not concerned. He had total confidence that he could end Richard in seconds.    “Alright, since you saw me kill the cops, I’m gonna tell you the truth. But before I do, I need you to help me get something. If you agree, I promise you the repayment will be more than just 5 million dollars…”
