Chapter 45: Richard Looks Back On The Future

1190 Words
Janet hoped that Richard and Marry would allow her to stay with them. She was living in Washington, alone, and her entire family lived far away from her. She had been fine with that, before, but now that there were mutant police dogs about, she no longer felt safe.        Anthony suddenly spoke up, saying, “I don’t want to leave either. I need to stay with Steven. If you don’t let me stay, I will kick your ass.”        Richard smiled and said, “Of course, you can stay!”        With that out of the way, Anthony began to eat. First, he had ten sandwiches, and he didn’t stop eating until he’d eaten enough hamburgers to feed a football team.        Marry looked at Richard and asked if he’d tell them about his plan. He nodded and said, “Steven is still too young to travel, and I don’t want to waste all the food we’ve got, so we will stay in the Villa Zone for at least another month or two. While we are here, our mutants should eat as much as they can. As the food is digested, it becomes bio-energy.” Marry: “What is bio-energy?” “It is a special thing inside the brains of mutant creatures,” Richard replied. “There is another reason that I want to stay, though. I wanted to build a Last Paradise for my son, where he can have a peaceful, happy childhood.” He knew that it was an impossible pipe dream, but he felt like he had to try.        In his past life, element controllers and pro-gods had been unable to win battles against mutant creatures when they were outnumbered, which had been almost always. In Washington D.C., there had been hundreds of thousands of soldiers, and the East side of New York City had been occupied by humans. Things got worse every day, though, thanks to the mysterious meteor that hung suspended over the earth. Each month, it emitted Radiation D. More and more mutant creatures appeared, and it got harder and harder for humans to get by.          Richard: “Everybody can stay here. If you choose to stay, though, you need to follow my orders. Otherwise, you may as well leave now.”        Wayne: “Follow your orders? What kind of orders?”        “To start with, I want you to go outside and collect resources.” After saying this, he gently took a red bio-energy core from his pocket and put it on the table. It was the size of a date pit.        After killing Dr. L, Richard had put the body in the basement, and while he was down there, he found the dead body of a mutant police dog. He cut its head open and removed its bio-energy core. “What is this?” Wayne asked. “Can I eat it?”        Janet stood up and picked up the bio-energy core. As she bent down, her cleavage appeared. The upper part of her huge boobs split apart, and the men could see straight down to her navel. Janet’s breasts were white and smooth, and they were twice the size that they’d been before she took the activation potions.        “You can eat it,” Richard told her, “but Mary, Lily, Wayne, and Captain Zoe cannot. They’ve only received one potion, and they are still normal. The bio-energy is from a mutant creature. There is some original gene data inside it. Only those who’ve mutated can digest a bio-energy core. Normal people can only use them for special-made units. For example, the bio-energy core gun was built to use bio-energy cores.”        “Makes sense so far,” Wayne said.        Lili squinted. “Where did you get this one?” she asked.          “This bio-energy core was cut out from the brain of a dead mutant police dog,” Richard explained. He stood up holding the core to the window, and when blood-red light reflected through it, Lily was afraid, and she tried to wipe her hands clean. After having held the core, she felt very dirty.        Lily: “Do all mutant police dogs have bio-energy cores?”        “Not just the dogs,” Richard replied. “All mutant creatures do; even plants.” And humans too – he thought but didn’t say. He did not think that they were ready to hear that, and he didn’t want them to panic.        Richard turned to Mary. She was playing with their baby. He thought – I’ll give it a few months, and then I’ll tell them. By then, everyone would know how precious these cores were, and they would not be afraid.        In the days to come, human bodies would be seen everywhere with their heads open, and nobody would think anything of it. Missing organs like brains, cores, and breasts like Janet’s, would no longer be a thing of concern, and cannibalism would be commonplace.   Because of his past life, Richard could see the future apocalypse as clearly as he could see the nose on his face. In it, there would be no zombies. Instead, there would be human settlements filled with death.        Wayne frowned and said, “No. It's too dangerous.” Then he turned to Lilly. “I guess we’re leaving…” He looked at Richard with eyes filled with anger and fear. He had seen the man commit murder, though, so he knew better than to defy him. “… I have been wanting to leave for a long time anyway,” he lied.          Janet glared at Wayne. “You are such a coward,” she said. “I don’t know what Lily see’s in you…  You were willing to eat at Richard’s table, but when it comes to helping your outie! That’s such bullshit!”          “I’m no coward,” Richard growled. “We came here to celebrate the birth of Marry’s son. We were invited. If the party’s over, then it’s time to go. Besides, look what Richard did to Dr. L. Aren't you worried that the police will come and arrest us all? Furthermore, you don't think he’s actually telling the truth, do you? You're all crazy if you think that the problem is nothing more than a few rabid police dogs. This is all going to end very badly – For all of us! “Anyway, I don’t know why you’re being such a b***h. Lily and I are going home!” The more Wayne spoke, the more upset he became.        Lily stepped up beside Wayne and said, “Janet, please don't get me wrong. Wayne knows how to get along with others. He is angry and frightened, but he is also right. Anyway, as you know, we have our own house in Washington, DC now. It is near Southern Village. We have a mortgage and everything, so it would not be proper for us to remain here indefinitely. Once the house is cleaned up, we’ll have a wedding ceremony. I hope that Janet will be my Maid of Honor…”        When Janet heard that, her face lit up. But Richard was left speechless. He knew that it was pointless to make such plans. The apocalypse was nearly upon them… He sighed and said, “Thank you for coming. I won’t stop anyone from leaving. There is food at the door for you. Take it and go with my blessing.”
