"Happy birthday, Clara," I smiled to myself, blowing out the single candle on the chocolate cupcake I bought at the corner market.
With the candle out, the only light left illuminating the small room was my old alarm clock, glaring in an ugly red hue '12:01'.
And no change. No physical one at least. I was always told by Luna Aurora that on a wolves 18th birthday we would go through the final change and be able to transform.
Though, no one knew if that would happen to me.
I laid back on my ragged mattress, slowly licking off the frosting. Weird. The cupcake was two days old and tasted more like one day old. I shrugged my shoulders as I stuffed the rest into my face. I wasn't one to look a gift horse in the mouth.
I looked around my small bedroom. The main compound of the Full Moon pack had been my home for the past 8 years. They owed me nothing, but still gave me a place to call my own.
I reached under my pillow, finding my old, barely fluffy, teddy bear, giving him a tight squeeze.
The old tattered thing carried with it some of the last memories of my parents.
Things weren't always great with them, but I always felt loved by someone at least.
Oh, how things change.
