Chapter 6

Ameris POV

After we got to the mall I decided that i would do a little shopping just some retail therapy. After getting into it with my stepmom and then Ethan playing me because he knew my brother was on the way had me really more upset than the funeral itself. That was a doozy all those fake people acting like the cared about Austin. I mean uncle Mitch hadn't been around since our mother died and yet there he was acting like all those other people. I was so lost in thought I didn't realize people were talking to me until Kesha got my attention to tell me to answer the lady. After telling her thank you for her condolences we continued to shop. I thought about my brother and was ready to bring him home so I decided I would loose Kesha in one of the busiest stores so I can find my brother. I hated to leave her stranded but I needed a quick get away and I'm sure she could get Mason to come pick her up when she realize I was not there.

I had no real leads on where to look for Austin so I decided to call the number that Austin contacted me from.

"Where are you?" I ask with no hesitation.

"Damn Ameris where are you? Do you know how much danger you can be in just by calling me? He snaps.

"Austin I miss you and I can't take this heartache anymore. Skye needs you now more than ever. I need to bring you back please Austin. Please."

"What do you mean Skye needs me now more than ever? What's wrong with Skye? Is she hurt? I miss you to Mer but it's safer right now that I'm gone."

"Can I at least see you and know that you are ok. Jazz will find you I know he is looking." I say

"No Ameris. Once Jazz finds me it will be over. I have to go. I will text you when I can. 143 twin."

And with that he hangs up.

After he hung up on me I went to Starbucks and Krispy Kreme I knew I needed to be able to have a quick cover for where I was being that I had literally left by best friend stranded at the mall. When I pull up I see Kesha and she looks pissed. "b***h you left me." "No I went and got some donuts and coffee. After about 4 people telling me they were sorry for my loss I couldn't continue to walk around and listen to that. I should have texted you. I'm sorry." I say. "It's ok I understand but you should know I called Mason to come get me and Jazz heard and is mad." She says. "I can handle Jazz. Don't worry about it." I say as we head to her house.

Getting back to the house the boys are there and of course Jazz and Ethan for that matter light into me. "Are you crazy? Do you the danger we thought you was in? Do you know the danger you could have put Kesha in by leaving her alone like that? " Jazz says going off like I had committed crime. "You try listening to people telling you over and over again that they are sorry for your loss and then bring up the fact that they know he is with our mother and that should make me happy to know?? I don't think so. I know you can track my phone so I know you know that I went to Starbucks and Krispy Kreme. I was tired of hearing it Jazz. I get it the people who hurt Austin are still out there and could possibly come after me or any of you and I understand that but Jazz I have a life to live too." I reply and start to walk away but Ethan grabbed my arm and stopped me. "He is right we thought something happened to you and none of us will be able to live with ourselves if something was to happen to you. Can't you see that.?" I just nod and turn to Jazz.  "Jazz we need to talk and now. Just us. Let's go" I say. "What do we need to talk about? You don't care about your safety so what else is there to discuss?" He hisses. "Please Jazz I need to talk to you. Just us no one else just the two of us." Jazz is looking confused but he takes my hand and we head to his car. "Well what is it?" he asked as I stand there gathering my thoughts "Jazz you have to find him. That is the only way it can end. He is waiting on you. Jazz. Call this number and you will see." I give Jazz the number and get out the car.

I see Jazz dial the number and I go in the house I didn't want to hear that part of the conversation because then Jazz will know I know as much maybe more than they did. They want to always leave me in the dark but they shouldn't I know stuff about what is going on just like they do. 

When he comes in the house he motions for me to come in the kitchen along with Ethan, Mason and Dez.

"Ameris knows more than we think he says. From this point on you two will protect her with your life. If anything and I mean anything happens to my sister I will kill you both. Mer you have got to start listening to me when I say stay put. If you are not with Ethan then you have to be with one of us. Do you understand me?" I nod in agreement. "How much does she know?" Dez ask "She knew more than we did. That twin telepathy has got to be real. Which is why she refused to believe us and well he called her. She took him the money and a few guns. But she don't know more than that." Jazz says.

At this point we need to get Skye with us as well I think. But before I can say it she burst through the doors. "How y'all go to the mall and didn't take me?!?" She yells at Me and Kesha. "Sorry we just thought you would want to rest with the stress of burying Austin and you being pregnant we was looking out for you and the baby." Kesha says. "Y'all will we raise the baby together? I mean all of us actively about it his/her life? Telling him/her how great it's father was and how loved his father was?" She asks in tears. "We will." I hug her and reassure.

Jazz decided we should all move into one house. This way protection detail was easier on the guys and we could keep Skye reassured that she wasn't alone. We spent the rest of spring break moving.

The last night of spring break and honestly I just want to spend some quality time with Ethan before school starts back and his heavy work schedule.

"Babe can we just Netflix and chill tonight. Just us with some snacks and the tv. I don't want to go to the party." (That was nothing new. I never went to parties with them. I just trusted that Ethan would behave because Kesha and Skye was with them). "Yes I wouldn't have it any other way. Come one I will pop the popcorn and you pick the movie." He says.

I decided to change clothes as well. I slip into a pair of short shorts and a tank top. Something a little more comfortable. I browse through the titles and make a list. Ethan grabs us a bunch of snacks and joins me in my room. My phone rings it's my dad he has been calling check on us all since the service. Being out the house still didn't mean that they stopped loving me. I hadn't talked to my step mother since our disagreement at the church.

"Hey princess how are you? I miss you around the house. I hope you will visit soon." He says

"Hey dad. I miss you more. Me and the gang plan to stop by Sunday for dinner. Jazz talked to Janet and she approved. So we will be there in two days. Dad you know you can come over and see us too." I say.

"I know princess. I miss having two extra pair of eyes to read my sermons before Sunday. Your mom. I mean Janet helps me out as much as possible but with her full time schedule I don't want to bother her too much."

"Well daddy email it to me and I will proof it and send it back. I know your sermons are not cookie cutter so I will make sure they stay that way. I love you dad. I will see you Sunday." I say

"Ok baby girl I will send them to you. I love you too princess and I will see you Sunday."

"Bye baby girl."

"Bye dad."

Ethan walks in and can see the happy on my face. "Your dad?" He asks "Yes. I miss him but I can't stay in the house with all the memories of Austin. I mean you know and I know but they don't and I just can't watch them suffer. Even Janet. But I did tell Jazz every Sunday we should have dinner with them. It was what we did and I didn't want to take that from them. Oh and Chris and Jamie moved back in with them as a precaution." I say. "What about your step mom? Have you two talked" "No I haven't reached out to her and she hasn't reached out to me. I guess we both just need time." "Well what did you pick for us the watch? I hope its not all chick flicks." I click on the my list tabs and the first five of ten movies pop up. Starting with Love and Basketball followed by Brown Sugar
