Chapter 13

Ameris POV

I'm so freaking nervous after school I have driving lessons with mom. I hope she don't freak out and we crash. I hope she thinks I'm as good of a drive as I think. My thoughts interrupted by a knock. "Come in." Kesha walks in "you ready?" We are heading to school this morning all leaving front the same address and I must say I'm just as excited as she is. Mason and Ethan are waiting for us out side. Once again I failed the outfit test. He don't say it but the look on his face is enough. So I head to his car.

"You are driving this morning. Come on get behind the wheel." He says and opens the door for me. I get uber excited and look up and Kesha is driving for Mason. We pull off and the first thing he says "your dad really think you need lessons?" "No it's about me and my stepmom building a relationship. I'm still shocked he let you guys practically move in. Do he know about your apartment?" "No babe I normally just leave and everyone thinks I'm at my mom house. Really babe it's my little hid out. My own get away." "Cool" I say as we ride down the road.

"Please play nice today. I mean it. I know you have something up your sleeve for Aly and I don't want you getting in trouble before graduation. You are a straight A student and I don't want being with me to change that." He says to me as we park. I look out the window and sigh "Ameris I'm not joking babe I'm serious. Promise me nothing will keep you for walking or cause your GPA to drop." "I promise. I will not get into any trouble." The one things Ethan didn't know is my stepmom was more than that. She was the principal at the school we attended. We never let it be known because people would think she would favor me.

Getting out the car I catch up to Kesha and Skye. The guys walk behind us. "So I had to make a freaking promise not to do anything to get in trouble before graduation. That freaking sucks." I tell them. "He just wants to see you graduate. Don't do it for him but do it for you. Come on you are too smart for them." Skye says. She is right. We head in school and to our lockers. Well the boys lockers. It was easier to go to our lockers once on the hall. So first theirs then ours.

Walking to our lockers I hear the mumbling and stuff. I try to ignore it but the fact was according to Aly her and Ethan were going steady again and him kissing me was to make her jealous. He walks behind me and whispers "just ignore it. Graduation is right around the corner." He was right this is the last leg oh but senior prank day was going to be one to remember. Aly and Jessica was going to get it. Not sure how far to push it but it's the week before graduation so I'm going to tread lightly when I do it.

Walking me to class and kissing me like he did the day before telling me to play nice and he would see me at lunch. I kissed him back and told him I loved him and went into class. Jessica is staring at me like she has seen a ghost. I guess her and her sister thought I would stay out of school because of what they did jokes on them and he is still mine.

"Take a picture it will last longer Bitch." Kesha says while looking at Jessica stare at me. "Whatever." She says with an attitude. 

We had a pop quiz that I felt like I failed which is how I felt after every test. Continuing on through the day and before I know it it's lunch time. Kesha and I walk out of class right into Mason and Ethan. I'm all smiles and so is she. Jessica is talking to Austin when we head down the hall. "Back off b***h he is spoken for and I will beat your ass over him." Kesha says to Jessica. "Why don't you mind your business you nosy bitch." Jessica says. "Walk away Kesha. 30." Mason says to her as I look at Austin and says "I'm sure your fiancé is waiting for you in the café." Ethan grab my hand and pulls me away. Didn't want to risk me hitting her again. "She is right I need to go Jessica." Austin says walking away with us. I see the anger in her eyes. I know she must think I'm lying but I could careless.

Sitting next to the window I see Aly, Jessica and Amber. Amber used the be friends with us. Well associates with us because she had a crush on one of my brothers. Once he got into a relationship with someone else she didn't want to associate with us anymore. Which was cool.

"Thanks sis. She was telling me about how Ethan and Aly still together and you are just a side piece. That he is just using you. We know that is not true. She asked me where was I when you tried to killer  and said she know I would have saved her. Then she asked me out. Good thing y'all came when y'all did. Would've been awkward to tell her about me and Skye being engaged." Austin say breaking my thoughts.

"What are you thinking about?" Ethan said. "Nothing babe. Just ready for the school year to be over."

The next thing I hear is my name being called over the PA System. So I head to the office along with Kesha, Skye, Mason, Ethan, and Austin. 

"Why are y'all coming? I am sure it's nothing." I say. "You have ever been called over the PA so yeah it's something." Kesha says. Getting to the office my father is here and now my heart is racing. What the hell is going on.

"You want to explain why all of you are here and they only called Ameris?" Dad says. "Sir there is strength in numbers and you always told us to look out for each other." Kesha says. "Well answer me this Kesha did y'all have a pop quiz today? If so do you remember when Ameris finished?" My dad say. "We did and she finished next to last like always. She second guesses herself on every question so she almost always either finishes last or next to last." Kesha says. "Dad What is this about?" I ask "Well you have two pop quizzes turned in. One second and one next to last. Neither has been graded however the teach seems to remember you finishing next to last as well so we are trying to eliminate who could be trying to hurt you." He says. "Jessica. She finished the test first. That would explain it being turned in second." Skye says "dad the year is almost up and I don't want to mess it up. Is there anyway I can get my schedule switched around to avoid trouble with Jessica, Aly and Amber?" To further prove my innocence I had to retake my pop quiz and give a handwriting sample to the vice principal. Jessica admitted she turned in the fake test along with the help of Amber and Aly. Who had did the same in two of my other classes. Having to retake 3 quizzes really pissed me off. The three of them got ISS and of course my dad was not happy with that. But I didn't care what happened to them as long as they left me alone. 

After all the drama I really didn't feel like driving. I just wanted to go home. But before my father left he made sure to remind me of my driving lessons and so I waited after school so me and mom can have at least one driving lesson before I got my Full Provisional License.

Getting in the car I can tell it was going to be tough with her but I'm just ready to get it over with. Mom treated it like I was taking a road test. I had to do it all and when I finished all that she took me downtown and made me show her I could parallel park. "Ameris I don't think you ever needed driving lessons. You are an amazing driver. Does your dad know how well you can drive?" She say as we are sitting at the light to turn to go home. "No. Dad has never allowed me to drive him anywhere. And when I would bring the boys home drunk he was sleep so he didn't know I was leaving going to get them." I told her.

I would sneak out and take a bus to the party my brothers would be at and drive them home after they were too drunk to drive home and their friends would call. I would often have to go get them out the bar as well after the bartender would take their keys. I hated it but I knew if my dad went he would kill them especially for letting Austin get drunk.

"Mom I'm sorry for all the trouble at school. I didn't know the situation with Jessica would cause all this. I even apologized to her about the situation and she made it seem like she was over it but obviously she isn't. I didn't know her and Aly were sisters and I didn't know Amber was now friends with them and I'm sorry mom." I say sitting in the driveway. "Princess it's not your fault they brought something that happened outside of school to school and I'm sure if you could have handled things differently you would have. I am proud of you for not getting into another fight over the situation." She says. She reached in and hugs me and exit the car. I get out and head in the house with her.
