Chapter 5

The Confrontation

Roseline could not shake off the feeling that Gabriel was hiding something of great importance. Being determined, she decided to confront him and seek the truth. Two things were involved, it's either Mr. Gabriel sacked her or he tells her what she needed to know, because that would make her stay in the company much more comfortable.

"Gabriel, I know you are keeping information from me," Roseline declared, her voice steady. "Please tell me about Eclipse, I'm curious.”

Gabriel's expression turned icy, his eyes flashing with anger. "You are mistaken, Roseline! What do you know? Who told you about that?”

"I have enough evidence Mr. Gabriel," Roseline retorted, her heart pounding. "I found the file on your computer. What is Eclipse?"

“Stay away from that! Mind your work, I don't pay you to do such research. “ He said in a trembling voice, while maintaining his composure.

“ Mr. Gabriel, I know a lot already, you have no idea. Tell me what I need to know. I promise to keep your secrets safe.” Roseline insisted.

Gabriel took a deep breath, his shoulders sagging. "Roseline! Eclipse is a project. A project designed to change the world."

"Change the world?" Roseline repeated, with great fear in her tone. "What do you mean Mr. Gabriel?"

Gabriel's voice lowered and his eyes glowed with intensity. "What I mean, Roseline, is that Eclipse has the capability to reshape the global economy. To create a new world order entirely." I won't talk much about this.

A wave of dread washed over Roseline . "And what role do you play in this, Gabriel?"

Gabriel's smile was disconcerting. "I am the mastermind, Roseline. You have no idea, I’m the one who will bring Eclipse to fruition."

“Tell me more sir, how do you plan doing that? What's the greater implication of this project?

I would like to know more about this, Mr. Gabriel.” Roseline inquired.

Mr. Gabriel maintained a great deal of silence. Rosline's questions received no response, he seemed far too busy with other things, Suddenly he cracked out laughter.

Roseline realized she needed to take action. "Gabriel, this cannot happen. It is utter madness." She said, while maintaining her composure.

Gabriel's laughter was cold and devoid of empathy. "You do not understand, Roseline. I hold the power, and I plan to use it." He said with utmost assurance, then he laughed again.

As Roseline left Gabriel's office, she recognized the urgency of her predicament. She could not permit Gabriel to unleash Eclipse upon the world. It was so scary to her. Momentarily, she felt like a Messiah who needed to do anything possible to save the world.

But what steps could she take now? And who could she trust? How and when best would this be?

Her pursuit of the truth led her into a very dangerous path, where reality was surrounded in a fog of lies and deception. Who could be of much assistance?

There was something that bothered her the most, she has not been able to understand Mr. Gabriel. He seemed to possess a questionable character. She observed he could have an emotional issue, if not, why would he sound distressed at times and appeared differently in other occasions.

She gets attracted to him now and the next minute, she gets so scared of him. “ I will not stop at anything till I uncover the truth.” She murmured.

As she stepped out of the company building, Roseline was deeply troubled, she found herself bothered about Mr. Gabriel. She observed that she was getting attracted to him; however, she must not allow such attraction, because what would happen to Julian her man if she does.

Caught in a whirlwind of guilt and urgency, Roseline reflected on the consequences of her choices. She was not only dealing with her increasing feelings for Mr. Gabriel and what that meant for her relationship with Julian, but she also recognized how her next steps could affect the bigger picture.

Realizing that time was running out, a sense of determination began to rise within her, pushing her to act quickly and decisively to uncover the hidden truths.

As she thought about this, her phone buzzed. “ Hope you're good Roseline? How is work today?” It was Julian checking up on her. Instantly, she felt guilty for finding Mr. Gabriel attractive. She wondered how Julian would react to that.

Not just about Julian now or her emotions, it's about the world she could save. She knew she needed to act fast. A lot of things bothered her mind, would she manage to bring the truth to light before it was too late?
