Alberto Ferdinand

1122 Words
My room was in semi darkness with the moonlight reflecting through the window. I love darkness,That is one of the unknown facts about me but my thoughts were interrupted by one of the most annoying people I know. “Frida,Boss has another mission for you”. Alex walked into my room to inform me. “No, he doesn't. Rizzo was the last of my missions for him” I replied and proceeded to ignore him. For the last five years, I have been working as a personal and private assassin to one of the Mafia families in the country. I have lost count on how many people I have killed already, I no longer feel the guilt anytime I complete these missions almost as if they are easy, it's has gotten easier over the years. And It's for my freedom and they are “sinners” according to my boss. Ten years ago, my boss said he had picked me up off the coast of Mexico unconscious and on the brink of death and had nursed me back to health. Hence, I owe him my life. To pay for the prize of him saving my life, I have been extremely loyal to him and have been working my ass off without a single complaint. But then I know my freedom will be hard to earn. “I will relay your words to him” Alex replied after the silence became tense and left. I didn't bother to reply to him and merely continued to clean my gun before I went to wash off. I spent almost an hour in the shower, trying to get the stench of blood off me but like a second skin, it stuck on. It has always been like that for years. “Ómbra, what's the matter?” A voice cut through my thoughts and my boss stood just a foot inside the room while leaning on his cane. I had not heard him walk in. Ombra, is the name he gave me since my first successful mission. His hard face broke into a smile. Oh, How I hate him. His downward slanted eyes and brown teeth from too much tobacco and his balding hair. He was ugly beyond words. “Nothing is the matter, Papa” I replied and stood up to face him. His smile faltered a little bit before he walked towards me. “I know we had an agreement and I don't plan to go back on my words but it is only you that I can trust with this” He said in a soft tone. “Who is it this time?” I asked, hating that I can't stand my ground against him. It's almost impossible to refute him. He would kill and discard me if I try to, I know. He is ruthless and cold. He had done that countless times before. He is that big of an asshole. “Alberto”. He replied simply, with a smile. My heart skip a beat at the mention of his name. I looked up sharply at him, and I almost gasped at the mention of the name. There is only one Alberto worth mentioning in the country, he is Boss’s strongest and formidable opponent. “You want me to take out Alberto?” I asked, not understanding what I just heard. “Yes, and you are free afterwards. Isn't that great?” He asked, still smiling that it seemed like he was mocking me. And I slowly nodded even though his words sounded like a joke to my ears. Patting me gently on the shoulder, he walked out without another word. My last mission is Alberto Ferdinand, how can I go against a devil incarnate? He is infamous for his brutality, and he is a total nightmare for anyone that crosses his path. But I have been given a mission to kill the same man. Have I been asked to dig my own grave? *** I had spent the last week finding all I could about Alberto and all I got still haven't give me an assurance this mission would be a successful one. If I fail to kill him, I would lose my own life immediately without doubt. I asked the taxi to stop at some distance away from his Mansion, heavily guarded by armed men. This is not going to be easy. I had chosen to come in the night because it would be easy to blend in with his men later. I had dressed just like his men and had my hair in a short men's cut. Alberto owns different night clubs scattered all around the country but few ones are close to his Mansion and from the information I gathered about him. He is definitely at one of the clubs tonight. He would arrive around midnight or before that if he is in a crappy mood. I hid in a dark spot at a safe distance that is close enough for me to get to the house within ten seconds if the moment I have been waiting for arrived. And just like I expected, a convoy of cars arrived. Making a break for it I approached the house at full speed and mixed with the unsuspecting men while everyone had their attention on him. My heart beat wildly as I mixed with about fifteen of his men, my hand clasped around my gun. It's heavy and not the usual weapon I use for my missions but I need to look the part if I want to blend in properly. Alberto climbed out of his car and a drunk looking blondie came out after him while smiling skittishly. This is the first time I'm seeing him and I wasn't expecting him to be covered in tattoos or piercings and in a tuxedo. His eyes are too dark and cold. It's like they were carved out of obsidian. I was expecting someone as old as my boss or even older. For the first time in years, a feeling of apprehension filled me. “This is not good”... The rest of the men bowed immediately and he turned to our direction but I was too slow to follow their action as I was staring at him for too long. “s**t!, this is bad”. More to my surprise, he turned to walk into the mansion. He had just disappeared through the door, when his right hand man, Zeus, approached us. I have met him on two different occasions but I was always in the shadows. Hence, he cannot recognise me. “Come with me” he said to me and turned around. “Wait what?”
