CHAPTER - 2

1082 Words
I look at the person standing in front of the mirror, she looks so much older, so much mature. I mean it feels like its just yesterday when I was walking down the halls of my collage and now here I stand in a beautiful navy blue dress, looking so elegant. Yeah, I got ready for that stupid party or something. I'm wearing a long navy blue dress with my silver heels and yeah that's pretty much. I look at the time to see its almost time and Alec would be here anytime. So to pass the time I turned on my phone and started scrolling the feeds. Soon I heard a faint knock on the door and I opened it, and there comes Carol with a cheeky grin plastered on her face. I huffed at that "Why so grinny?" I asked her narrowing my eyes at her, these woman is totally up to something.  "What? I'm just happy that you decided to go out with Alec!" she said squealing like a high schooler. I rolled my eyes at her excitement. "You do know that we are just going together to attend an event, right?" I told her in a bored tone. "But still you are going out with him" she said putting a point. "Then, its not the first time I'm going out with him." I said mockingly. She was going to argue but some ring the door bell, we both turned. "Well, I'll get that" Carol said and went to open the door. And there stood Alec in all his glory looking very handsome in his black tux.  "Hey, there" he said hugging the Carol. "Hello, young man. How are you?" she asked him. He chuckled at her "You know I'm not 'Young man' anymore. And answer to your second question is, I'm perfectly fine" he replied. I cleared throat so that they know that I'm also not there. "Oh, hi. I'm here to pick my little friend, can you call her?" he said to Carol, as if he didn't recognize me. Well on some other day I wouldn't have recognized myself also, but her I'm standing feeling like a barbie doll. Carol stood there without saying anything so took that as a cue to speak. "You also do realize that 'little' anymore. And the answer to your second question is, that I'm already here." I said masking his tone.  "Oh..my bad, I'm so sorry I didn't recognize you." he said faking a shock look. I rolled my eyes at his antics, these guy is literally known as cold-hearted, I mean how? Guess I'll never get that. I was so busy in my own thoughts that I didn't realize that he was standing right in front of me looking at me, well checking me if I tell you honestly. "You know taking a picture is always better option?"  I said mockingly. "Maybe I should take one" he mumble under his breath. "Let's go" I said as I brushed past him.  Reaching at the venue we both went inside, it was classy as expected, you know those balls they show on the movies grand hall, bar set on the one side, food section on the other and everyone talking to one another. I met few people and talk to them about business. But after talking with-you know what I lost the count, and don't even ask me about there names, god where is Alec when I need him!? After few minutes of looking around for him, I jumped on the conclusion that he just ditched me, because I can perfectly saw him talking to some older looking man and a girl-who I of course don't know, standing by Alec's side with both of their arms looped. Just as I was about to turn and make a leave, calling it a day someone's voice halted my feet.  "How are you, little princess?" a familiar voice said, looking up I saw it was Uncle Josh and his wife Samantha. A smiled automatically appeared on my face. Uncle Josh and my dad are really good friends and also his daughter Crystal is my good friend. "I'm perfect, Uncle. How are you?" I said him smiling. "Same old. So our little princess has become so big that she's now handling the whole empire single handily" he said with proud, he always sees me as his daughter. "Um.. actually I'm not, dad still helps me and he's just out for some meeting so I decided that it is better to go and do some work rather than getting bored out of my mind in the house, doing absolutely nothing." I said to them. "true, knowing Carol she wouldn't even let you enter inside the kitchen." Aunt Sam said jokingly, which is true though. "I agree." I said to her.  "Where is Crystal did she come?" I asked them. They shook there heads negatively. "Hey, why don't we arrange a dinner like old times when Ethan come back. Plus you can meet Crystal also" Aunt Sam said hopefully, oh how can I deny that. I smiled widely at her suggestion "Of course, I'll come along with dad, he really love that place" I said to her flashing a smile. After bidding my goodbye I went to home but not before texting Alec that I'm leaving, that traitor well definitely pay for his act. I called dad once I reached home "Hey! How are you"  I said as he pick my call on the third ring. "I'm perfectly fine, my princess, but how are you? Did you attended that gala?"  "Oh yeah, the Gala. Of course, I did but left a bit early." "Well, its okay. I can only imagine your face while you talk to people "  "It is not funny, okay? And yea about the people over there, I mean they were okay. I didn't put myself into any trouble." "Of course, so you meet a guy?"  "yes, Uncle Josh and Aunt Sam. They invited us for dinner at the farmhouse" "Wow, that sounds great, we'l go once I return" "yeah, I said that to them. But I guess something is off with Crystal? Don't really know what but she's not answering to my messages, I'm worried about her" "Don't worry she'll be fine. Maybe she just is busy with her work." "yeah guess you're right, maybe I'm just overreacting" We talked a bit before I hang up on he call and decided to go bed.
