When I got up in the evening, Evie was already home. When she saw me coming out of the room, she widened her eyes in shock.
"Why did you come back so early today? Don't you need to work overtime today?"
"I took leave today, so I didn't go to work."
I stretched lazily, yawned, and answered Evie.
"You asked for leave? Really?"
Looking at me in shock, she felt a little incredulous.
I responded faintly. Seeing my unhappy expression, Evie looked at me with a puzzled expression.
"Where did you go last night? You didn't come home."
"Working overtime."
Hearing Evie's words, the expression on my face froze, and I explained guiltily.
"Working overtime? Why are you lying to me? What company would ask their employees to work the entire night? Tell me the truth, did you..."
Evie trailed off
