It took a moment to understand what she was asking of me. And when I did, I wanted to curse her out, but I couldn’t, not in front of Cassandra. I’d always known that Emmy and the others she worked with dispensed a special brand of justice based on their own moral code, and that code didn’t always align with the law as it was written.
