CHAPTER THIRTY
Winter stood frozen, starting slightly when Satchel slid his arms around her, kissing her temple. “It’s going to be okay, baby.”
She nodded, leaning into him. “I thought she might react like this.” She gave him a weary half-smile. “But at least she didn’t throw her drink on you.”
“I’m more concerned about her connection to Ganz.”
Winter blinked. “What?”
“She’s meeting him tonight.”
Winter stepped away from him and turned to face him. “Satchel… are you having my sister followed?”
Satchel looked unrepentant. “Yes. Ever since she met with Ganz at the benefit. For her protection, for yours, for Sukie’s. I don’t trust his motives.”
Winter felt a little sick, and he touched her face. “Baby, I swear, I’m not trying to invade everyone’s privacy. It’s just… this time…”
