Ep 4

“Shanna?” a deep voice said from the doorway. She pulled her knees tighter to her chest. “Go away,” she sobbed. “Don’t look at me!” she screamed, the scream turning into something inhuman. Logan fell to his knees beside her. “Oh, no, no, no, no, no,” he sounded heartbroken. “He’s broken every law of our kind, he’s a dead man walking.” There was a featherlight touch on her shoulder. She flinched. “Shanna baby, do you know what’s happened?” he touched her shoulder again, then she felt the softness of the fur throw from the bed envelope her. “He bit me.” She hiccupped a sob. She heard Logan sit beside her. His hand was light on her shoulder. “Let me look at the bite, sweetheart?” he brushed her hair away from her neck. It stuck in sticky tendrils to the wound, making her gasp in pain. “I’m sorry, I can tell by the bit what animal did this.” Then “Mother fucker!” he got up and paced the room for a few moments, muttering curse words and running his fingers through his hair. Then he strode into the bathroom and turned on the shower. Then he was there, kneeling next to her. “What do you mean, animal?” she pushed herself up into a sitting position and gathered the fur around her. It was a bearskin. She hated it, but at the moment it brought her comfort. “Let’s get you cleaned up, you’re going to have some pretty awesome scars, like a warrior.” Ok strange thing to say, but what could be any stranger than your husband breaking into your home and biting you? Just like it was a normal thing to do. “What did he mean by breeder?” Logans eyes went round. Then he scooped her up and cradled her gently in his arms. “Later when we are safe at my place, I’ll tell you everything, but now I really need you to jump in the shower and wash his stink off you because right now I am barely in control of myself” She was put into the shower and Logan left the room. OK then. She stood under the hot jets of water for the second time that evening and wondered what the hell was going on. Nothing made any sense. Ben Had been seeing Kate for a long time, that much she could believe. Maybe it’s what had kept ben from biting her before now. Now she wasn’t stupid, and she had read her fair share of supernatural romances. and the only thing she could think of was that it was a claiming mark. The kind shifters gave to the one they chose as mates. But shifters were fairy tales and did not exist in the real world. But then why was her bedroom trashed like it had trapped some wild animal in there. The water stung like a motherfucker when it hit her neck and the long s***h marks on her back. If it was the last thing she did, she was going to end Ben Franklin Blackstone.
