The High Towers’ library was never popular among prospective high mages. When they became students, they quickly learned that knowledge and mastery of high magic wasn’t as necessary to climb the ranks as one would think. Of course, later down the path they would discover that to become an archmage, at least some skill in wielding magic was necessary, but most of the High Towers’ students never bothered with such lofty ambitions. They wanted basic schooling, a few parlor tricks to amuse their families or to weave whatever schemes they were going to use to gain wealth.
