Chapter 9

By the time they had arrived to the barracks, the ’special unit’ had assembled with hands behind their backs. But if Felicia didn’t know them any better, she would think they were disciplined soldiers who had learned the rules and regulations. “Alright, you idiots!! Starting from today, this person is going to be your new instructor. You better listen to her or else I’ll be the one after your asses. Be VERY careful. She’s special ‘cause she’s my sister. I’ll be keeping an eye on you!!!” She yelled, making sure they had heard clearly. Ezerette glared at the unit, eyeing each and every one carefully and shouted once more. “IS THAT CLEAR?!” “Yes, ma’am,” they responded dryly. “I asked IS THAT CLEAR?!!” She screamed out a second time. “YES MA’AM,” it was good that this time it was with more energy and vigour. Ezerette smiled briefly before returning to normal. “Good.” She looked around and noticed an empty spot in the unit. Her brows came together and she frowned. “Cadet Nathan, step forward,” she said harshly. Nathan gulped. He took a step forward and made eye-contact with her. He looked at Felicia, begging her to save him. “Well? Where is he?” She questioned, clearly noticing the pleading gaze going to her sister. But it was quickly blocked by Ezerette who shot a sharp glance at him. “Stop staring at her, you p*****t. Now, hurry up and tell me. Where is he?” She questioned again, this time with a slight impatience in her tone. Nathan’s face was drenched in fear and was slowly becoming pale. But, it suddenly lit up. Ezerette, confused at what was going on felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned around, looking and followed Felicia’s pointed finger that went straight to a pair of old but handsome man, and a much younger version of him. “Oh, looks like he’s here,” Ezerette sighed, relieved that he had arrived just in time. When the two people came nearer, the younger one joined up with the other guys and started chatting happily with them, while Ezerette saluted the old fellow respectfully. “Welcome, major,” She looked at the joyful old man warmly and in return Jonas greeted her. “So, this is your sister?” “Yes!! She is a much better trainer than I am, as our father taught her personally,” She declared proudly. “Hello, major,” Felicia performed the same salute, but in a much more disciplined and strict manner. Although her voice wasn’t loud, her salute was much better than many other military soldiers. Jonas smiled, inched her up and down slowly and said jokingly. “Hey girl, you sure you got the spirit to train them? Don’t go havin’ a mental breakdown on me!” He chuckled and patted her shoulder. She kept her smile on, then slowly looked into Jonas’s sea blue eyes. Her smile disappeared instantly and she exuded coldness. “Yes, sir. You do not have to worry about them. I assure you, you will be seeing results from your grandson as well. I WILL straighten them up,” she assertively claimed, making Jonas have an even brighter smile. “That’s good. I hope you live up to my expectations!!” He roared in laughter at her sudden change and patted her shoulder even more. “Well then, I’ll be leaving now. Do whatever you want to them. None of their parents will mind. They’ve pretty much given up on these idiots because of how spoiled they are,” He said, and his eyes glimmered. He had confidence that she could do the job, especially after noticing how similar she was to her father. ‘He sure was a great man.’ He turned around, carrying his old and nostalgic thoughts, slowly become a small figure in the sunlight. Felicia twirled around, and smiled. Unfortunately, it was one that didn’t even reach her eyes. “Now then, shall we begin boys?”
