CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE When I entered my home, Hazel trotted up to greet me. I knelt and spent some time with her, stroking her soft fur. Sometimes Hazel takes the rough edges off. I keep a bag of rawhide on the back porch. I gave her a new bone. She gladly accepted it and started crunching on it. The kitchen smelled like hamburgers. A wall of beefy goodness hit me as I walked into the kitchen. Darvin was standing at the stove, flipping burgers with a spatula. He was dancing to some hip-hop music on the radio, nodding his head and singing lyrics. “Hey, guys,” he said, grinning wide.
