“Ana. . . ??”
Kai’s green eyes looked at Ana with deep concern. She was tossing and turning in her sleep again. He always wondered what was going on in that beautiful mind of hers. And what she had to be so scared of.
“I’m sorry.” A groggy Ana said as her eyes fluttered open.
Kai placed a gentle kiss on her head reassuring her everything was okay. Even though it had only been a few short months together. He knew he loved her. And was falling deeper in love each day. He couldn’t help feeling like a magnetic pull towards her.
“What are we doing today?” Ana said.
Ana looked at Kai who was staring out the window. Seeming to be lost in thought. She knew that feeling all too well. That’s one of the things she missed about the forest. Was the ability to never be lost in thoughts. Since you had the freedom and ability to connect with everything around you. You never felt alone. And you always were in touch with not just nature but the emotions inside yourself.
Ana placed a kiss on Kai’s shoulder. Causing him to turn around towards her. And kissing her deeply on the mouth. He lifted her up and threw her back onto their bed.
“My plan today was to help you find a job.”
Ana looked at Kai puzzled. A job…? She thought what is a job? At home she never had a job. They were all required to be apart and help around the compound. No one had a job. They were just expected to. Or suffer the consequences.
“A job . . .” Ana repeated slowly.
“Yes, a job. Have you never had one?” Kai asked with a chuckle.
“No, back home we weren’t required. What is a job?” Ana replied
“A job is a place you go to make money. And help participate in society.” Kai said.
“Oh. Back home, you were just expected to help. You didn’t receive money. You just had to help or suffer.” Ana answered Kai matter-factly
Kai gave her a strange look. He had never met someone like Anastasia. She said some bazaar things at times. But he loved that about her. She was like a puzzle he couldn’t figure out.
