Chapter 2

“Okay, class, pay attention. There’s a new student who’ll be joining us from today onwards. Tell the class your name dear”, The teacher spoke to the class as he then ushered Lexus forward. “I’m Lexus. I’ll be in your care”, Lexus spoke as he bowed down, exactly like how Alice taught him. “Oh, he’s kinda handsome…Does he play football...Where’s he from?”, all sorts of whispers could be heard as the students looked at Lexus with newfound excitement. “Okay settle down kids. Let’s see, you can have a seat at the far back next to the window”, The teacher pointed as Lexus quietly made his way there. The lesson was very easy to understand, which made Lexus feel less tension from being in that new environment. When the lesson was over and the teacher took his leave as it was recess, Lexus was immediately swarmed by his classmates, who kept barraging the poor kid with questions. “Okay, that’s enough. Lexus has just arrived, so let’s give him some space to take in all that’s happening. Sorry about that, they’re all so excited to see a fresh face for a change, so don’t let it get to you”, a very cute girl spoke to Lexus in a charming voice as he couldn’t help but to blush a bit. “My name is Linda and welcome to our humble class. How about I give you a tour of the school grounds?”, Linda offered. “That’ll be great, thanks”, Lexus accepted her offer as they both left the classroom together. The building was very big as Linda showed Lexus all the available facilities, which were all top class. After having lunch, the two made their way back to the classroom. “Thanks for showing me around, is there anything I can do to repay you?”, Lexus asked. “Oh, how about you become mine—I mean don’t sweat it okay. Just call me if you need anything”, Linda spoke with an awkward tone. “Okay sure”, Lexus said with a smile as he entered the classroom. Before Linda entered the classroom, she blushed heavily and held her cheeks as she thought. “Ahh fresh meat! I can’t wait to make him mine and devour him, tee-hee”. Linda reverted back to her normal self and entered the classroom like usual. When Lexus took his seat once more for the next lesson, before he could sit down, he finally noticed her. “God is she beautiful”, Lexus thought, as he saw a girl with blond hair and green eyes with lovely lips. She had a great style and body shape as she sat with so much grace and composure. She was reading a poetry book as everything about her was art worthy. “Hey who’s that?”, Lexus asked the boy seated next to him. “Oh, that’s Vanessa, the prettiest girl in our age group, however…”, the kid paused. “However?”, Lexus asked in curiosity. “She’s also known as the sub-zero queen as she refuses to talk to anyone or to let anyone get close to her. Even the teachers are afraid of her. Messing with her literally meant forfeiting your life. I’d better stay away from her if I were you”, the kid warned. “Oh, I see, thanks”, Lexus said, as he couldn’t help but to think, “I got to go talk to her”. Despite all that he had heard about her. The reason why Lexus noticed her in the first place, though her beauty was a factor, was rather because he could feel something off about her. Something that he had grown to fear greatly. The bells sounded signally the end of class for the day. The teacher ended her lesson as the students swarmed Lexus once more. Some offered him invitations to join their clubs, as most of the girls offered to walk him home. Linda was about to drive them off again when Lexus stood up on his own and slowly walked towards Vanessa. “Eh, don’t tell me…umm that’s a bad idea…well of course he’d try it anyways. He’s either crazy or stupid…”, the other students whispered as the scene looked like Lexus was marching towards his demise. “Hmmm? at least he has guts”, Linda thought as she licked her lips. Lexus reached Vanessa’s desk as he spoke to her. “Uhh hi, I am Lexus. I just transferred and I’d like to have a word with you”.

Silence…

Not only did she not bat an eyelid, she also didn’t bother to look at the foolish insect attempting to approach her. Lexus felt like he was going to suffocate, but before that he finally mastered the courage to say it. “You smell like them. Why do you smell like them? those… creatures”, Lexus spoke as he stared dead at her. Vanessa’s eyes opened widely as she turned sharply to look at Lexus. “Come with me!”, Vanessa quickly said as she grabbed Lexus’ arm and dragged him off. There was dead silence in the class. “EHHHHHH!”, the whole class exclaimed as they literally watched the coldest creature on the planet not only talk to someone but also drag them off. It was like watching a miracle happen, God bless. Vanessa took Lexus out of the school building and all the way to a park in the area. Vanessa stopped and gave Lexus an overpowering look as she then asked, “How do you know about them? are you one of them?”. “Uhh no it’s just that I could somehow sense their lingering presence on you so I could ask you the same”, Lexus replied. “Like hell I’m one of those bastards. They could all rot in hell for all I care. I asked you a question, how do you know about them?”, Vanessa asked once more as she looked, she meant business. “Well, that’s because…umm…you see…”, Lexus kept stuttering. “Well, what?”, Vanessa asked, almost losing her cool. “That’s because they raised me, in their home world”, Lexus finally spoke up. Vanessa stared at him in disbelief. “There’s no way that’s true. You really must be one of them after all”, Vanessa said, as she seemed like she was ready to attack Lexus even though there was clearly no weapon in sight. “No wait, please listen. I can explain myself”, Lexus backed up a bit before realizing he had bumped into someone behind him. At that moment, he felt like he had sensed something and immediately froze. The hairs on his neck stood on end as Lexus started to sweat profusely. He slowly turned around only to see the same man from that night a year ago. “Surprised to see me? Daddy misses you too, you know. We all do”, the man said as the pupils in his eyes turned dark red. “It’s not good to leave home all by yourself, you know. Only bad kids do that…”, the man with red eyes spoke gently as he approached Lexus, who kept backing off with twice the amount of fear. “You, you’re one of them!”, Vanessa shouted as she looked at the weird man. “Indeed, I am my fair lady. But wait, what’s this? Oh, you’re a guardian, aren’t you?”, The man said with a look on his face as if he was smiling but he wasn’t. “And what if I am?”, Vanessa spoke with such intensity as she faced the man. “Well, you see I can smell the blood of my kind on you. And so, this is what we’re gonna do, I’m going to kill you and take my son here with me back to our world, sounds fair right?”, the man said with a slight tilt of his head. “No… wait, don’t harm her”, Lexus finally regained the ability to speak again as he stood in front of her. “Move”, the man simply said as he drew closer. “No, I won’t—”

Smack!! The man just hit Lexus with the back of his hand to the side of his head, which sent him flying till he hit the kiddie slide which dented it. “Lexus!”, Vanessa shouted as she turned to look in the direction Lexus was sent flying. “You monster!”, Vanessa said as she pulled out a katana out of thin air and attacked the man.

The man merely chuckled as he blocked the flurry of slashes unleashed by Vanessa with his bare hands. Vanessa leapt into the air and did a quick turn s***h which was effortlessly dodged as the man used only a single punch to her guts to send her flying. Vanessa coughed up blood as she crashed into the ground a few meters away. She got up once more and sought to attack the man again, but it was futile. Not only was her sword ineffective, it was more like the man was toying with her. “Oh, I’m terribly sorry. You should be dead by now, but I just can’t stop my bad habit of playing with my prey, you see. Please bear with me”, the man said as he repeatedly kicked Vanessa, who could only lay on the ground and kept screaming in pain. Lexus was still unconscious but he could still hear Vanessa’s screams. He couldn’t move a muscle but he could definitely feel anger rising within him. “I won’t let you...kill her…I have to stop him…”, Lexus thought as he tried to force himself to move.

“Do you want help?”, Lexus heard a strangely familiar voice within him. “Ah, I almost forgot that you were around. It’s been so long since you came out. If it means saving the girl, I’ll do anything…”, Lexus answered. “Good…”, the voice spoke again as it faded away. At that moment, a huge explosion sounded similar to that of something shattering. The man stopped beating up the girl and turned to look at Lexus with a weird look on his face. When the explosion died down, Lexus had grown a horn on the right side of his head as he also had claws now.
